Chapter 588 - Chapter 588: The Demonic Fetus

Chapter 588: The Demonic Fetus

A Field of Ghosts

In a mountain forest somewhere in northern Mississippi.

Gazing at the castle spires faintly visible beneath the dark clouds in the distance, Luke couldn't help but ask,

"Why is she here?"

Eight sighed helplessly. "I had no choice. You'll see for yourself."

Luke glanced at him and walked forward. A few hundred meters later, a thin mist appeared. The fog lingered in the forest, dense and unmoving, and faint, intermittent cries could be heard, mixed with unsettling howls.

Luke frowned slightly. He looked ahead with a flash of green light in his eyes and was immediately startled. The small forest was swarming with ghosts of all types: some wore lab coats, some had extremely long tongues, some were dripping wet, and some had malevolent expressions...

These ghosts were all staring towards the castle, completely ignoring the two men.

"What's going on?"

Eight pointed forward. "All caused by that child." He paused, his expression deeply complicated. "These are just the minor ones. There are stronger ones ahead. Even I couldn't handle them."

Luke stopped talking and strode forward. Wherever he walked, the ghosts spontaneously ignited and instantly vanished into nothingness.

Passing through the woods and reaching a hillside, the fog suddenly thickened.

The cloud of white mist was so dense it transformed the surroundings into a dark area where one couldn't see their hand in front of their face. The sounds in the fog grew louder, faintly mixed with bestial roars.

Luke snorted coldly, raised his hand, and pointed at the sky.

Crack!

Thunderbolts descended from the sky. Lightning flashed in the dark clouds, snaking through the layer like electrical wires. The wind surged fiercely over the hill. Leaves and branches flew into the air, and the mist scattered accordingly.

A host of phantoms across the mountainside were exposed beneath the clouds. Luke flicked his finger, and a bolt of lightning shot out.

Boom!

Thunder descended from the sky in dense, crisscrossing strikes, turning the area into a sea of lightning.

Screams of agony erupted as the lightning struck, instantly vaporizing the feral ghosts. The remaining ones scattered like birds.

A deep reverence showed in Eight's eyes. The main body is growing stronger, stronger than I can comprehend.

The lightning sea subsided after half a minute. The ghosts were gone, and the surroundings were clear. However, the scene before them was puzzling.

A faint layer of black mist enveloped the castle. It looked weak but had withstood the lightning strikes.

"Did you do that?"

Eight quickly shook his head. "Not me. It wasn't like this when I left."

"Interesting."

Luke suddenly became intrigued. He walked up to the black mist, and green flame erupted from his palm, burning a large hole in it. The two stepped inside. Upon entering, they immediately felt a powerful, chaotic aura. The twisted soul energy was like an oil painting splashed with various colors, a terrifying aspect hidden within the heavy brushstrokes.

Death, Brutality, Fear, Consumption, Chaos, Greed!

That was what Luke sensed. It was hard to imagine this was the aura of a child.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"There were faint signs before, but they suddenly intensified these past few days, likely related to his imminent birth."

"What about Kate?"

"Not good."

"Not good" was a euphemism for "very bad." As the First Lady, one of the most powerful women in the world, giving birth to a child like this, her state of mind was easily imagined.

Luke shook his head. "This is why I told you all to use protection."

He walked briskly toward the main door, a fireball appearing in his hand.

Boom!

The door was shattered into pieces. The monsters lurking in the hall abruptly turned, staring intently at the intruders.

Four malicious spirits, three vengeful phantoms, and two hellish creatures reeking of sulfur.

Luke extended his index finger. Green light erupted from the tip, shooting out an electric bolt that branched out mid-air, piercing the bodies of every monster like an arrow.

The vengeful phantoms and malicious spirits instantly dissolved into puddles before they could even scream, leaving only the two struggling hellish creatures.

Luke stared at them coldly. He didn't move, using only his gaze to terrify them into submission, where they lay prostrate and motionless.

"Come out!"

Luke looked at the turn of the second-floor staircase. "Your subordinates are dead. How long can you hide?"

The air twisted, and a hunched figure in a black robe quietly materialized. A staff was held in its claw-like left hand, and its eyes glowed fiery red in the darkness. It slowly walked down the stairs, each step leaving a scorched mark of flame.

"Powerful Human, tell me your name."

"That question should be mine to ask you."

Luke raised his right hand, a flaming sword instantly materializing. "Logically speaking, high-level demons shouldn't appear in the human world unless someone performs a sacrifice. I'm very curious, who brought you here?"

"A shameless, despicable, vile liar!" the monster cackled. "Do you want to know his name?"

"Not interested!"

Luke raised his longsword, slashing a stream of fire that lingered in the hall, blowing away the tattered robe and revealing the ugly body beneath. It was a lizard-like creature from the depths of Hell, short, covered in fire-red scales, with a severed tail, one blind eye, and several unhealed wounds.

It was apparent that it had been through a massive battle.

"What a shame."

Luke shook his head. "I had a sliver of expectation for you, but I didn't expect this monstrous appearance. Compared to the demons I've collected before, you are truly pathetic."

Collected?

The lizard demon sensed something, its eyes flickering nervously.

"Arrogant Human! Demons are not for you to collect!"

"There's nothing in the world that cannot be collected. Generally speaking, the rarer an item, the more valuable it is for collection. Like you. You are rarely seen in decades. Of course, you should be placed in a collection room for display. It's quite an honorable thing to do."

The lizard demon bared its teeth, its eyes blazing with murderous intent. The next moment, it shivered violently. Fear took root in the depths of its soul, spreading throughout its body. It stood frozen in terror, unable to move.

"You... you... How is this possible?"

"I forgot to mention, I collected two Lords of Hell."

Luke walked over and drove the sword through its chest. Green flames surged, forcing out a spectral soul.

"Tell me, why are you interested in this child?"

The lizard demon looked bewildered.

"You have ten seconds."

Luke grabbed the soul and pulled it close to his face, his eyes like two whirlpools, staring intensely at it.

"Speak, and I'll send you back to Hell. Refuse, and your body will become part of my collection."

The lizard demon was terrified beyond measure and dared not refuse.

"The child's soul summoned me. He is a natural demonic fetus, a sought-after host body."

"A host for whom?"

"My Master, Beelzebub, the Lord of Hell."

As it spoke the name, a look of profound reverence appeared in the demon's eyes.

Luke's expression turned strange. "Isn't the Lord of Hell Lucifer? When did it become the Lord of the Flies?"

"Silence! Do not blaspheme my Master!"

Luke snorted, flexing his fingers and crushing the demon's soul.
