Chapter 669: The Grotesque Infant

Inside the Unborn God

The world never lacks problems, nor does it lack solutions. No matter how thorny an issue, as long as you command enough resources and think carefully, you can always find the key to crack it.

The tentacle monsters were seemingly invincible. Nearly two hundred Human Gods, possessing all sorts of bizarre abilities and an almost infinite life force, could not be killed by conventional means. To solve the trouble, the only path was to strike at the source.

The moment Hanyue mentioned they were waiting for someone's birth, Luke prepared for a desperate, do-or-die fight. The future had to be controlled by himself, not entrusted to the Old Woman.

The only way to defeat the tentacle monsters was through that still-unborn infant.

An infant!

While dishonorable, it was the only way.

Entering the fleshy egg, Luke seemed to step into another world—ephemeral and vibrant with shifting colors. The air echoed with laughter, crying, and roaring.

A person's soul world is a direct manifestation of their emotions: bright and filled with orange notes when happy; a volcanic eruption of surging magma when angry; a somber, weeping rain when in pain; and a gray, empty void when depressed.

Emotions are unique and do not generally coexist. Strangely, the world before him was a chaotic kaleidoscope: anger, joy, pain, depression, loss... all emotions appeared simultaneously, giving a bizarre, confusing illusion.

Wandering through it, Luke could hear all kinds of voices—men, women, young, and old—everything.

One voice sounded especially familiar. Luke couldn't help but look up. A figure of exquisite beauty appeared ahead.

She wore a wide-sleeved celestial dress, her hair pinned up with a crescent moon hairpin. Her face was delicate, her aura peerless, standing there like a clear moon—The Moon God, Princess Hanyue.

Luke paused, instinctively glancing around. Hanyue was surrounded by others, chatting and laughing, though he couldn't hear what they were saying.

Memory fragments?

Luke frowned slightly and reached forward. Seeing him, the crowds laughing and chatting instantly contorted their faces. They bared their teeth and lunged at him like demons.

"You're asking for death!"

Luke scoffed. The green flame transformed into a Fire Dragon, smashing them into pieces.

At that moment, the world suddenly paused. The phantoms of laughter, anger, and weeping swirling in the air all turned their heads, staring menacingly at Luke.

The color vanished from the world, leaving only pure black. A colossal face appeared in the sky. Its forehead was full, and its cheeks were plump, looking like a baby's face, yet its empty eyes exuded a ferocious, brutal aura.

"Finally, you show yourself."

Luke soared up, his body rapidly swelling into a six-armed giant. In his palms appeared a sword, spear, sabre, mace, bow, and arrow. Eighteen Fire Dragons encircled him, and below was a furiously burning sea of jade-green fire.

"Come on! Let me see how strong you really are!"

The infant opened its mouth and let out a high-pitched wail.

The darkness transformed into a giant palm that covered the sky. Before it even neared, the pervasive wind pressure shattered the ground below.

Luke raised both hands, and a giant sword of green flame materialized in his palms.

"Hah! Strike!"

The blade sliced the air. A several-hundred-meter-wide green light-blade flashed across the void, colliding with the massive palm.

Boom!

A violent shockwave erupted in the sky. The entire world trembled. The surrounding phantoms screamed and ran, scattering away from the area.

The infant let out a piercing shriek, clearly in pain. Luke, too, clutched his chest, his soul-form shaking violently.

The moment he entered the fleshy egg, Luke's soul world had merged with the infant's. Any damage inflicted on this world would be felt by both. This meant he had no retreat: it was kill or be killed.

Luke gritted his teeth. Wings sprouted from his back. With a flap, he turned into a streak of light and shot toward the sky. Mid-air, he drew his bow and fired over a dozen green light arrows, which were batted away by a fleshy, pudgy hand. The giant face rolled in the clouds, kicking up bursts of fierce wind.

Suddenly, the clouds parted, and a colossal, grotesque infant appeared before him.

Its body was twenty stories tall, its skin purplish-black. On its back was a giant suction cup from which over a hundred dense tentacles sprouted.

"What the hell is this thing?"

A God?

Bullshit! Even demons look better than this.

Over a hundred tentacles lashed out at Luke from all directions. Simultaneously, the infant opened its huge mouth and spat out a column of multi-colored energy.

Luke quickly formed hand seals. The sea of fire beneath his feet transformed into a thundercloud sparking with green lightning arcs.

Boom!

An incredibly thick streak of green lightning sliced through the sky, shattering the energy column and striking the infant's head hard. The powerful blow left a deep crater on its face, making its body tremble.

Luke was also hit by the dense tentacles, which knocked him through the sea of fire and slammed him into the ground.

"Damn tentacles! I hate tentacles the most! Die!"

Luke raged. All six of his hands formed seals simultaneously. Energy poured relentlessly into the thundercloud. The cloud began to swirl, turning into a vortex. The electrical arcs circulated, compressing and condensing into a lightning sphere.

The energy within was enough to destroy this entire world!

"Open!"

Luke roared. The lightning sphere burst open, and the world was bathed in green light.

That light became a lightning spear that pierced the heavens. From bottom to top, it drove through the center of the giant infant's forehead, broke through the clouds, and carved a circular hole in the dark sky.

Pfft!

Luke coughed up blood and fell straight onto the ground.

The giant infant sat stunned in the air. Cracks appeared on the round hole in its brow, spreading and running across its entire massive body.

Crack!

The colossal body shattered like glass. Hundreds of light clusters surged out, swallowing each other: big fish eating small fish, small fish eating shrimp. In the blink of an eye, only five remained.

Then, a shocking scene unfolded. The five light clusters grew hands, feet, and heads. A suction cup appeared on their backs, and dozens of tentacles shot out from the cups, thrashing wildly in the air.

One infant had turned into five.

"How is that possible?"

Luke's eyes widened. He was utterly dumbfounded.

The Old Woman's Calculation

The battle inside the fleshy egg had consequences for the outside world. At some point, the fleshy egg stopped emitting energy waves, and the altar lost its original luster.

The tentacles' rapid recovery was mainly due to the constant supply of life force from below. The fleshy egg, the altar, and the white threads formed a complete supply chain. With the source disrupted, the downstream supply naturally failed.

The Old Woman sensed the abnormality immediately and couldn't help but look up. Without the life force supply, the fighting Human Gods were bound to suffer heavy casualties.

However, this was perfectly in line with her plans. As long as the Death Gods' flesh and souls were devoured, the fleshy egg would evolve rapidly, reaching its complete form soon. At that point, the Human Gods would lose their value, and their deaths would be a convenient outcome that saved her the trouble.
