Chapter 67 - Not Real

Lara's POV

"What?" I asked the moment we stepped back into our room.

The space felt wrong without Cassian. It was too quiet and empty. His mother had insisted on taking care of our son, smiling as if she were doing me a favor, and Cassian had gone to her willingly. He laughed in his grandfather's arms, reaching for them as if they were his safe place now. The thought hurt more than I wanted to admit.

Marco turned toward me, his expression firm and unreadable.

"You heard me, Lara," he said evenly. "We need to go to the cabin in the woods. You need to train there."

I stared at him in disbelief. "Your estate is large enough," I replied, my voice tight. "You even have woods on the far side of the property. We can train here. I do not want to be away from Cassian."

His jaw tightened slightly. "It will only be for the weekend. And we cannot bring him there. Not yet."
