This was the opportunity Abomination had been waiting for.
He possessed the ability to leap—soaring from ground level up to a helicopter's height was nothing more than a basic maneuver for him.
And he did it now on a single leg.
His left leg had been shattered to the bone.
Even with his extraordinary regeneration, he still needed time to recover.
Ross's sudden drop in altitude—born of whatever scheming was going through that old dog's mind—gave Blonsky the perfect opening. He seized the moment and jumped.
It also gave him a brief chance to put some distance between himself and Xu Dan.
General Ross stared in horror at the massive green hand clamped onto the helicopter doorway. At this point, it was far too late for regrets.
They were ordinary humans. How could they possibly resist Abomination?
Shoot him? Attack his hand until he felt pain and let go?
Impossible.
Even the heavy guns of an assault chopper barely fazed him. Their pistols and rifles were nothing but mosquito bites.
"General—parachute!"
A loyal soldier, in this moment of crisis, blurted out what he believed was a clever solution.
He hurriedly fastened the emergency harness onto Ross, and then—
Abomination noticed something falling out of the opposite side of the helicopter. Instinctively, he reached out and caught it.
What an amusing sight.
Xu Dan almost burst out laughing.
He remembered how Hulk caught the parachuting soldier with his bare hands in Avengers 2. And now Abomination, by sheer coincidence, had caught Ross in the same way.
In fact, the very first person Blonsky killed after becoming Abomination was Ross.
And now fate had dropped Ross right back into his hands.
"Fak!!"
Ross's mind was filled with ten thousand galloping profanity horses. How could he have believed his soldier's nonsense?
Why parachute?! He'd been perfectly safe a second ago!
He wanted to shoot that idiot.
"Bronsky—let's talk! There's something we can discuss!"
But Blonsky was no longer the Blonsky he'd known.
With a sneer twisting his grotesque face, Abomination glared at him. "Discuss? With you, General Ross?"
"You…" Ross's voice trembled. He was shaken not by Abomination's strength, but by his clarity. He had seen Banner transform into the Hulk—mind lost, reason gone. But Blonsky was fully awake.
For a mere human, Ross had decent instincts. There was a reason he had become a general. Not everyone could make such observations under pressure.
"Aren't you surprised, General? That I can be like this? You should be. And you should thank me, General."
Abomination grinned wickedly, releasing his grip on the helicopter and leaping downward with Ross in hand.
BOOM!!
The massive impact sent dust billowing everywhere, leaving a crater beneath his feet.
"General, look at me—I'm overflowing with power. I'm not afraid of your suicide missions anymore. Want to give me another one? I promise I'll finish it this time."
Abomination taunted him.
But everyone knew: Ross's situation was already hopeless.
Unless—
Yes. Xu Dan.
Ross, in his desperation, immediately thought of him.
After what Xu Dan had just displayed, surely he could save him.
"Xu Dan!! Xu Dan! Save me!!"
"Xu Dan!! Help me! I'll give you benefits—anything you want!!"
His pleas sounded like a dog yelping, which made Xu Dan laugh.
So much for status. Before death, everyone looked the same: pathetic.
Begging heaven and earth.
Xu Dan lifted the Sword of Destruction glowing faintly with hellfire and strode toward Abomination.
"General Ross, hold on."
Hearing that, Ross looked toward Xu Dan with desperate hope.
It was the last thing he ever saw.
Because as Xu Dan charged forward, Abomination panicked—and accidentally crushed Ross in his grip.
The result was horrific beyond words.
A man pinched to death by brute force could be described in only one way: miserable.
Unlike other deaths, the face swelled grotesquely, and the bulging eyes looked ready to burst from their sockets.
In his alarm, Abomination threw Ross's corpse toward Xu Dan, hoping it would distract him.
But Xu Dan remained cold as winter ice, stepping lightly aside.
Ross's body tumbled across the pavement, leaving a smear of blood before landing in a heap of destroyed cars.
Up in the helicopter—
The soldier from earlier sat frozen.
He had acted out of genuine loyalty.
He had truly, sincerely believed he was helping the general escape.
But fate had twisted his good intentions into the worst possible outcome.
And in the military… such consequences…
A foot soldier's fate was never meant to be this tragic.
When he snapped out of his daze and looked down, he saw Ross's body bounce twice like a broken rag doll before disappearing into scrap metal.
"General!!"
"General!!"
So much had happened today.
First a monster was born.
Then a streetwide catastrophe.
And now Ross was dead.
The changes came so fast his young mind could barely process them.
"What do we do now…?"
The soldier slumped into Ross's former seat, pale and shaking.
On the ground—
Xu Dan and Abomination had already engaged in close combat.
Abomination had once been a Croatian operative—a veteran in his forties with considerable combat experience.
After suffering several losses against Xu Dan, he gradually adapted. He started to understand the rhythm and began defending properly.
Xu Dan could no longer strike him freely; they were exchanging blows in earnest now.
But Abomination's stamina was nearly infinite, and with his terrifying regeneration, no amount of attrition would wear him down.
Xu Dan knew this as well.
He understood Abomination better than Blonsky did himself.
After a long, fruitless battle, Xu Dan began considering other options.
He recalled how Hulk fought Abomination: unable to kill him, Hulk had only managed to knock him unconscious with brute force.
Which meant he, too, needed to knock this damn creature out.
Stun him.
Daze him.
His mind flashed sharp and clear—he suddenly realized the method he needed.
Over time, he had accumulated points and frequently browsed the system mall, buying new skills to strengthen himself.
Sword Saint abilities, passive talents—
And, of course, other spells.
Control abilities…
