Abomination understood all too well what it meant to be hacked to death.
In the end, under the relentless storm of blades empowered by Xu Dan's new weapon, he was cut into eight pieces.
Even after defeating Abomination, Xu Dan felt no joy.
His original intention in dealing with the monster had never been about glory or praise.
He simply wanted to protect Banner — to let him work in peace, without being harassed by General Ross.
But now… Ross was dead, and Abomination was finished.
From another perspective, wasn't all his effort for nothing?
Nothing gained, just sweat and exhaustion.
Quietly returning to his car, he said, "Queen Hong, process all the footage of me from just now. I don't want any trouble."
"Yes, master," the Red Queen replied obediently.
"Let's head back, then."
...
The next day.
Media outlets big and small exploded with news.
Yesterday's destructive rampage had drawn massive attention.
If General Ross were still alive, he would have immediately ordered the entire incident suppressed.
But he had been snapped to death by Abomination, and now there was no one left to clean up the mess.
And the casualties that day had been heavy. In the original story, Banner had been the one on-site, rushing in to save everyone.
But this time, Ross saw that the firepower couldn't contain Abomination — so he called Xu Dan.
The delay alone was enough for Abomination to demolish an entire street with his bare hands.
Trying to suppress the public outcry was impossible. First and foremost, the victims' families would never allow it.
Because the Red Queen had processed all the footage on the spot — street cameras, private recordings, military feeds — the only thing people could see was a black shadow battling the greenish monster.
And in a country that worships individual heroes, that black shadow was soon celebrated as some sort of legend.
Once the official reports came out, every other media outlet immediately began discussing this mysterious superhero.
Poor Ross — already forgotten by most.
At that moment, Xu Dan was in his office, playing with his little pet.
The Frostwolf Ghost Pup had grown a bit over the past few days — but only a little.
If it had been an ordinary pet, with the amount of food and care he provided, it would have grown into a pig already.
But the ghost wolf had only gained an extra inch in length.
After dismembering Abomination yesterday, he had secretly taken a chunk of the creature's flesh.
Feeding Abomination meat to his little wolf was basically the literal definition of "feeding scraps to the dog."
But after eating it, the wolf pup's body suddenly grew at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Its muscles swelled, and in a matter of seconds, it went from cub-sized to the size of an adult wolf.
"Wooo~!"
The little wolf lifted its head and howled — then its body compressed again, shrinking back into a cub.
Xu Dan blinked.
He immediately opened the system and pulled up the wolf's status panel.
There, in the skill list, was a new ability: a berserk transformation that increased all attributes by 50% for thirty minutes.
Staring at the panel, Xu Dan couldn't help but be stunned.
He had randomly fed the ghost wolf a bite of Abomination meat, and somehow triggered a hidden skill. An unexpected surprise.
"Little guy, I've fed you for a thousand days — next time trouble comes, it'll be your time to shine."
"Whoosh~!" the wolf replied.
Setting the wolf down, Xu Dan reached for the stack of documents on his desk.
As the boss, he was actually very busy — nothing like the carefree CEOs seen in TV dramas.
In addition to running back and forth between departments every day, he had countless reports to review.
Today's stack was especially thick, bundled together in a blue folder.
Xu Dan opened it, and his brows tightened at the title alone.
It bore the name of the well-known Wind and Snow Company.
Before Antarctica's rise, they had been the dominant force in the gaming market.
Behind them were several powerful companies from the island nations.
But now, all of those companies had been pushed aside.
Antarctica stood alone at the top.
Flipping the title page, Xu Dan looked over the statistics.
The document didn't explicitly state anything, but even a fool could tell from the numbers that Wind and Snow — together with several major island-country companies — was targeting Antarctica.
Xu Dan had long expected this. For Antarctica to grow and expand, it would inevitably anger competitors. Business competition was no less brutal than war. Losers went bankrupt.
But Antarctica had to grow. Becoming the world's number one was only a matter of time.
And so what if they offended others?
As long as you were capable, you could fight back with your work.
Unfortunately, Wind and Snow and the island companies chose not to do that. After failing to copy Antarctica's games, they assembled teams to infiltrate Antarctica's game worlds and deliberately sabotage the gaming environment.
A truly pathetic tactic.
You can't outperform the competition, so you ruin the game for everyone else?
As he read through the pages, Xu Dan's expression darkened. The data laid everything bare — the fake player IDs and the companies behind each one.
He opened the game forum, scrolled back a few pages, and sure enough, found countless angry posts from players.
Suddenly, an idea sparked.
If they wanted to make trouble, then he would drag everything into the light and handle it openly.
He excerpted the relevant documents and uploaded them anonymously.
For the players' identities, he took care to censor the details — he didn't want to be accused of maliciously leaking private information.
But since even fools could tell the data pointed to Wind and Snow, how could the community of dedicated gamers miss it?
With the right editing, a bit of music, and a simple video, those documents would become a rallying cry — a call to arms igniting players' sense of justice.
A massive player base was like a tide — once one person called for a "holy war," everyone else would follow.
And the purpose of this war was simple:
To protect their beloved game world.
To purge the mercenary parasites from the pure land of the game.
Smiling, Xu Dan casually created a new alt account and set its forum permissions a bit higher.
His fingers danced over the keyboard as he posted something carefully designed to stir momentum.
Sure enough, replies appeared almost instantly — passionate, furious.
Some were already shouting about charging in to "cut down the boss of Wind and Snow Company."
