"If he really wanted me to find Banner, he wouldn't have said Brooklyn! Damn it—what a jerk!"
Nick Fury cursed under his breath and left.
The next day.
In his place, another beautiful woman appeared.
Her name was Natasha—an elite female agent. Within the industry, she was known by a nickname: Black Widow.
Although no one really knew what the name "Black Widow" meant… perhaps it was meant to describe her spider-like agility.
Natasha looked around and felt equally helpless.
With her looks, she still couldn't get the attention of a single person in a white coat.
It seemed the men here were completely indifferent to women.
Were they all perverts?
Yes—perverted researchers.
Otherwise, how could there be two organizations daring to use their "second brother" for experiments?
"Well, if no one's paying attention to me, I'll find him myself."
Nick Fury had assigned her the task of persuading Bruce Banner to join the organization—or at least to stay dormant.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had extensive information on both of them.
Bruce Banner: Capable of transforming into the Hulk at any time, able to crush tanks with one hand, danger rating: –999.
Xu Dan: Genius game developer, handsome, tall, wealthy.
If any woman had to choose, she would definitely choose the second one.
Natasha was no exception.
However, when she saw Huowu—whose figure was better than hers and whose looks surpassed her own—she immediately abandoned the idea of "seducing Xu Dan in pajamas."
To persuade Bruce Banner, she first had to find him.
In such a massive company, she didn't dare to barge in recklessly.
There was a strange atmosphere everywhere—clearly daytime, yet it felt like a terrifying cemetery.
Natasha subconsciously rubbed her arm. She was wearing a short dress today, styled more casually.
It made people let down their guard more easily.
She searched as she walked, witnessing one horrifying experiment after another. Even as an elite agent, she felt the urge to draw her gun defensively.
"Is Bruce Banner working in an environment like this? Or… is he actually one of the test subjects?"
Black Widow Natasha's thoughts began to wander.
With no one paying her any attention, she continued her slow search and finally reached a floor that looked exceptionally luxurious.
Judging by the level of technological equipment here, if her guess was correct, Dr. Bruce Banner had to be on this floor.
"Wow—finally found it!"
Natasha stepped proudly out of the elevator and was about to walk toward the laboratory—
When suddenly, a red figure appeared before her like a ghost.
The abrupt appearance startled her. Acting on instinct, she drew the pistol hidden beneath her clothes in a split second and aimed it at the red figure.
"Huh?"
Natasha froze.
The figure before her was actually illusory—and it looked like a little girl.
It was the Red Queen.
"You should not be here. Please leave immediately," the Red Queen warned calmly.
Natasha didn't take it seriously. With her experience, she instantly understood what kind of existence this red figure was.
She took the initiative and asked, "Hello. May I ask where Bruce Banner is?"
"Do you have an invitation?"
"No."
"Do you have an authorization code?"
"No."
"Then please leave."
"I—"
Natasha felt disappointed. She had thought this was a highly advanced artificial intelligence, but in the end it was still an artificial idiot that insisted on identity verification.
She decided to ignore the Red Queen entirely and search the floor herself.
Taking a step forward, she walked straight through the Red Queen's projection and headed toward the laboratory ahead.
But in the very next second, the Red Queen's figure shifted again, blocking her path once more.
"Warning: I am the Red Queen of the Antarctic General Defense System. If you continue forward, defensive measures will be activated."
Natasha looked down at the little red girl. Her expression didn't change, but her heart was filled with disdain.
An artificial idiot—what could it possibly do? Was it really going to pull out a gun and shoot her like a human?
She ignored the Red Queen and continued walking.
Clang!
A series of sounds rang out, startling Natasha. She instinctively crouched.
Walls had suddenly risen at both ends of the corridor, sealing it shut.
At the same time, the originally light-blue lighting instantly turned warning red.
"Looks like trouble."
Even now, Natasha didn't feel true fear.
After all, she was an elite agent—she had dealt with situations far more complicated than this.
However, she soon realized that this situation was far more than simple confinement.
Zzzzz—
Natasha frowned as a dazzling white light appeared at the far end of the corridor.
"Lasers!"
At last, she felt fear.
In such a confined space, with death slowly sweeping toward her like a razor—
If her guess was correct, this wasn't just a single beam.
Sure enough, after dodging the first laser, two more appeared from the same direction.
One above, one below—Natasha jumped through the middle.
Then came four.
Four lasers crisscrossed vertically and horizontally, leaving only a tiny gap.
Natasha licked her lips, muscles tightening.
Less than a minute in, and she was already being forced to reveal her full strength—this was really something.
She no longer dared to think of the Red Queen as an artificial idiot.
This was a full-fledged electronic killer.
As the four lasers drew closer, Natasha suddenly dropped flat onto the ground.
The lasers divided the space into nine grids. She lay flat, arms and legs pulled tight—just small enough to fit perfectly within one grid.
The laser skimmed dangerously close to her chest.
If her cup size had been even slightly larger, she would have been shaved clean on the spot.
"Phew…"
Once the lasers passed, she sprang up and let out a long breath.
But what awaited her next were eight diagonally staggered laser beams.
Four lasers already pushed her to the limit.
Now there were eight.
They formed an almost complete net—something only a cat could slip through.
And definitely not an orange cat.
"Oh God… it's over."
Natasha cursed Nick Fury endlessly in her heart.
Of all things, why had he assigned this mission to her?
How was she supposed to evade this?
There was no way to dodge.
The only option left was to rush to the other end and slam into the wall.
As the laser net drew closer, despair filled her eyes.
