Chapter 14 - A name in my mind

It was slightly dark outside. A man sat by the desk, reading some papers, completely absorbed. The quiet of the room made his focus even more intense. Suddenly, the door opened, and a man dressed in black walked in. From his stance and appearance, he looked more like a soldier than anything else.

He bowed respectfully to Jin Wei and said, "Master."

Jin Wei gave a slight nod.

The soldier straightened and spoke carefully.

"Master, she is the young lady of the Yang family. A few days ago, she had an accident and lost her memory. The doctors tried to treat her, but there has been no improvement.

That's why she's behaving differently. Even the maids at her house are impressed that she hasn't hit anyone yet."

Jin Wei nodded again, his expression unreadable, and told the soldier to leave.

Once alone, Jin Wei leaned back in his chair, lost in thought. The last time he remembered the young lady of the Yang family, she was outspoken, fearless, and full of confidence because of her family. But the girl he had just seen... she was crying. Could it really be the same person? He wasn't convinced.

Something about her softness, her hesitation, didn't match the strong, proud girl he remember.

Meanwhile, when Junhao and I arrived at yang residence, chaos had already taken over.

Mother Yang was crying because her only daughter was in prison. Father Yang was anxious too, though he kept his calm, trying to appear strong. But when they saw me, relief washed over their faces. Mother Yang ran toward me and hugged me tightly. The night wind was cold, hitting at our faces like slaps, but her hug felt warm and comforting. I wanted to stay like that a little longer, just holding onto the familiar warmth.

Of course, she soon started checking me for injuries. My three brothers were also there, standing quietly. After living here for some time, I had started treating them like family, though I wasn't particularly close to the three of them. Two of them were twins, studying at the Imperial School-a prestigious place where children from famous families like the Yangs go. I was technically a student there too... well, the original owner was. I had never even seen the front gate of that school myself, so it all felt a little strange.

After my injuries were examined, I was allowed to go back to my room to rest. Xiaomei helped me bathe and comb my hair. I've learned to dress myself now, so I don't need her help anymore. My hair is long, black, and healthy-I love it. Having hair like this was always my dream, and now that it's mine (well, the original owner's body, but still), I can enjoy it. Yeah, yeah, I know-it belonged to her, but I'm in her body now, so it's fair game. End of discussion.

When I lay down on my bed, Xiaomei left quietly. I could sense her worry, though she didn't say a word. She probably thought I needed rest.

As for me... there was one person that has occupied my mind completely.I didn't know I was thinking about him so much that I didn't notice when xiaomei left. Slowly, I whispered his name: "Jin Wei."

Oh, don't get me wrong-I'm not some flirt. Just because a handsome guy is in my thoughts doesn't mean that. Okay... maybe he is ridiculously good-looking, but the reason his name keeps coming to mind is different. It felt familiar. Not in the original owner's memories, but in mine. How could I possibly know a Chinese name like that when I've never met anyone like him before?

Right now I really deserve a flying sandal from a certain someone....

After thinking about it some time I slowly closed my eyes and gradually falling sleep.
