"We'll have to go back to the packhouse. There's no other place we can spend the night now," Nana said quietly to Yushan and Jun after the meeting.
The others had already left, leaving only Feng, Yushan, Jun, and her in the boardroom. Her tone carried the kind of calm resignation that always followed long, heavy discussions.
Yushan nodded in agreement.
Jun, however, didn't move or respond. He didn't see the point. Whatever he would have said would not have held much weight anyway.
The silence between them stretched, thin and uneasy, until the scraping of chairs filled the empty room. They both stood and walked out, their footsteps echoing in the long hallway.
The lights were bright, reflecting off the polished floor and giving the corridor a sterile, deserted feeling that made every sound more hollow.
