Jasper stood looking out the window. He recalled the night before. He recalled the smile on Sophia's face, her sparkling eyes. It had been 15 hours since she had been kidnapped.
"Sir," Mike called out walking towards him.
"Speak," Jasper replied.
"Sir. Although the video wasn't clear, we were able to get the plate number". Mike said, handing a phone to Jasper.
"We've traced the location to the outskirt of the city."Mike said.
Jasper nodded. "Let's go," He said and walked away.
#####
Sophia walked down the stairs. She was wearing a white shirt and red flared skirt.
On getting to the end of the stairs, she looked for Atticus.
"Lord said you should meet him in the dining." A maid said and quickly scurried away.
Sophia tried to stop her, she didn't know the dinning room. She sighed as she began to move down the hall. Her eyes scanning for a way out, then she saw it. Her door, making sure no one was following, she ran to the door, just then a hand wrapped around her waist and pulled her back.
"Wow, you smell nice," Atticus whispered in her ear. Sophia frowned. He turned her to face him. He smiled and pulled her to the other end of the hall.
It was then she noticed its beauty. It was well lit with different sculptures on each pillar. The tiles were made in Azulejo design, a blue-and-white Portuguese ceramic style design.
She was then led into a room. A large table stood in the center, with chairs neatly arranged around it.
The dining room was vast, its marble floor reflecting the flickering light of countless candles. The table in the center was long enough to seat twenty, its dark surface glinting like obsidian. Heavy drapes covered the windows, and portraits of strangers with haunting eyes watched from the walls. Sophia was bewildered — it was magnificent. It was magnificent.
"Do you love it?" Atticus asked her.
Sophia cleared her throat awkwardly. She smiled.
"It's nice," She replied. Atticus smiled as he drew out a chair for her. Sophia smiled as she took it.
Atticus smiled as he sat at the small edge side close to Sophia.
Maids came and placed food on the table. They blushed on seeing Atticus but he didn't pay attention to them. His eyes were on Sophia who was scanning the room.
The maids smiled and walked away.
"Sophia," Atticus tapped her shoulder, Sophia turned in shock. "Let's eat," Atticus said. Sophia nodded. She took a bite and then turned to him.
"What do you want from me?" Sophia asked. Atticus frowned.
"You have to eat". Atticus answered
"No, answer me," Sophia snapped.
"My immunity-"
"Your immunity". Sophia repeated.
"My immunity is with you". Atticus replied.
"I don't have it, please let me go. You have the wrong person". Sophia begged
"It's with you, you have it". Atticus replied.
"No, okay where is it, I will give it to you. Just let me go." Sophia pleaded.
"It's here." Atticus said smiling.
"Where is it". Sophia asked.
"It's inside you". Atticus replied.
"What?"
Atticus stood up and pulled her out of her chair into his arms. "It's in you, within you, flowing in your veins." Atticus traced her body. Sophia's body tensed.
"What do you mean, I have nothing of yours I swear. I think you have made a mistake". Sophia replied in hushed breath.
Atticus brought his face closer to her, piercing into her eyes.
"No I'm not". He traced her lips with his thumbs. " Cutie cat."
"Atticus please, let me go. You must be mistaken. Please let go of me".
"Without my immunity, I will lose existence, I will be lost in the abyss of creation. I need it, it's like my soul. Vampires are different, we don't die but suffer a fate worse than death. The same way you humans can't exist without your soul, we vampires can't exist long without our immunity. It was transferred to you on that day". Atticus explained.
"No nothing is with me, you're crazy. You can't force me to stay here without any proof". Sophia replied. Atticus smiled. His eyes never leaving hers.
His eyes suddenly turned red, his fangs came out and his body became pale.
She said as she stepped back from him. She closed her mouth as she screamed.
'what the hell,' she thought. Then she noticed her body was glowing red. Looking at her arms.
"What the hell is going on, why am I glowing red?" She asked.
"That's my immunity, only I could see it since and now I gave you the ability to see it". Atticus answered. It was then it dawned on Sophia what her situation was. This was more than what she imagined. She recalled the fall from the cliff. She had seen it flow out of him.
"Oh my God, oh my God. Please take it, let me go". Sophia begged.
Atticus returned to normal. "I can't, it's like your blood now, I can't just remove it." Atticus replied.
"No, no, no, you have to get it out of me". Sophia said in panic.
"I'm sorry, you've to stay here. I have to protect you now and be with you every single moment".
Sophia's eyes darted behind him. She had to escape. She quickly ran but once again Atticus caught her.
"Let go of me," she shouted as she slapped him.
Atticus frowned. "Calm down".
"Let go of me, help me". Sophia shouted. Atticus covered her mouth but Sophia bit his hand. Atticus hissed, he put her over his shoulders.
"That's enough food for one day". He said and walked out of the dinning room. Sophia kept hitting him.
"Let go of me, you demon." She screamed.
18 hour after Sophia's disappearance
Jasper sat on the chair. His eyes scanned the man kneeling on the ground, the man's body was body covered with blood.
"I will ask one last time: where is she?" Jasper said, frowning.
The man spat out blood. "I've told you, I have no girl with me".
The men behind the man, hit him with a club.
The man coughed out blood.
"Did you shot this lady or not?" Jasper said raising the phone to the man's face.
The man stiffened. "I was...was just told to kill the woman. I don't have any idea why". The man stammered.
"By whom, who sent you?" Jasper asked raising his brow.
"I don't... I don't know. A man just called me, gave me 20 thousand dollars, told me to kill the girl," the man begged.
"Where is the girl now?" Jasper shouted.
"Don't know, I shot the gun and moved-"
"So where the hell is she?" Jasper said punching the man. The man coughed out blood.
"Boss, I swear I don't know, I just shot and left. Look I don't know-"
"Sir". Mike came to him. "A package is here for you".
"From who". Jasper asked.
"No name". Mike replied handing the package to jasper.
Jasper frowned and opened the box.
Inside were pictures of Sophia and...
Jasper widened his eyes, it was the guy from the ball.
"What the hell". Jasper shouted.
Attached to it was an address. He squeezed the picture, clenched his fist and tightened his jaw.
"Let's go," he said and walked to the door, he turned.
"Kill him," he said and walked away.
"Boss! boss! boss!" The man shouted as the men behind him shot him
Jasper entered the car. He looked at the window.
"If you touch even a hair on her body. I will burn you to pieces."
