Reyna and Jason were moving as fast as they can toward camp Jupiter using the chariots they borrowed from a legacy demigod.
They were visiting a demigod as a part of a routine to keep track of the happenings of the monster world as well as the demigods who had retired. Plus, it was also a way for Reyna to improve Jason's standings with the old demigods who gave importance to traditional roman values.
This way Jason will have good chance at being selected as Praetor in the future. Even though Jason is the member of the Fifth cohort, a cohort famous for its bad luck and poor reputation, the roman legacies only care about the deeds. So, Jason still has a chance to be chosen as Praetor.
But as the discussions were going on, one of Reyna's members at camp managed to send a message to Reyna about what Octavious was trying to do.
Reyna immediately had to stop the meeting and when the Legacy realised what was happening, he allowed them to borrow his chariot so that they can return as fast as possible.
But before leaving, they made sure to inform Reyna that from now on, until he earns it, Octavian will not receive the support of the legacies connected to him. His statement was.
"Two prophesies or more like orders telling the camp that the demigod must be protected. And the idiot's first step was to do things that makes the demigod hate the camp the moment he comes in.
That demigod is special and an idiot who does not see that is not fit to have authority over the camp. Not even if he is gifted in viewing the future" these words made Reyna's day many times brighter, but she still was worried about what was happening in the camp.
And she never expected to see Camp Jupiter in such a way at all.
The first thing she and Jason saw was the lack of soldiers manning any part of the stronghold. This gave them a bad feeling, but they still moved forward until they met with a spirit that was shivering in fear.
"Tell me, what happened" She asked to which the spirit muttered.
"Silver arrow….hunter…..power surpasses Hercules…..god" after saying those words the spirit dispersed as if it had difficulty in existing after watching that battle.
Jason immoderately used his storm powers to go to the Colosseum and Reyna began running after him. The powers from her godly side allowed her to gain strength with her army, but right now, she was feeling as if she was running on empty.
This only gave rise to more of her bad feeling.
"YOU BASTARD" Reyna heard Jason scream within the colosseum and saw the rise of clouds and thunder in the sky. She realised things had taken a bad turn.
She immediately began running towards the colosseum to get immediately hit with a smell she was familiar with.
Blood.
And just as she entered inside, she saw Jason with one of his arms twisted to the wrong direction and a demigod with a silver bow standing on top of him with one foot on Jasons's chest.
Reyna froze; her instincts told her that any sort of attack will only end with her loss. Plus, she was also able to realise what had angered Jason so much. As she looked around, she found every single soldier of the camp had been struck down by arrows. The entire ground was wet with blood. Ocativian was praying to the Zeus statue while shivering in fear..
"Why?" she asked as she felt the strength leave her limbs as she took in what was happening in front of her.
Jason, the strongest demigod at camp had been grievously wounded and defeated within a few seconds. Every other Soldier at camp had fallen to his skills before she arrived. Seeing the death of her comrades had taken away any strength she had to fight back.
'What's the use of fighting back when there's nothing left at the end'
"What do you mean?" Silva asked while his expression remained the same. Reyna was looking straight at his silver eyes. They seemed to give an ethereal glow that seemed to shine even while the sun's rays illuminated everything around him.
"I understand you are angry at how my comrades treated you. But did you have to kill so many of us. There were many that were just following orders" She said not expecting an answer.
Silva chuckled.
"They were just soldiers following orders. That's the most pathetic excuse I have ever heard. People always say that when they see their side of the army lose. It's a way for them to have the moral high ground when those same soldiers had slaughtered hundreds of innocents with their own hands." He stood right in front of Reyna.
"Tell me something. I have never done anything against your camp. I was invited here by one of the gods you worship. And in the end what happened.
They jeered at me, marked me as someone who should be punished even though I had not committed a single crime. Then they tied me up and presented me as a sinner in front of all your soldiers. And even those soldiers knew about it, but they never stood up to speak against it.
If I was weak and killed, would you have done anything to seek justice for my death" Silva asked.
Reyna went silent, she wanted to answer that she would fight for it. But at the end of the day, she knew. If Silva was not called upon by two Greek gods, she would have only protested a little bit.
The romans have fights inside as well as outside. While they fight monsters outside, inside they fight against themselves for power. A death of an innocent will not deter them in any way at all unless that person was profitable to them in one way or the other.
Silva moved past Reyna and began walking.
"None of them are dead, I made sure of that." Reyna sighed in relief, but Silva was not finished.
"Many demigod who appear in your camp are feeling lost or helpless due to them having no knowledge about this side of the world. They never had any recommendation and most of them only has sadness and loss when they appear here.
I will forgive the disrespect you showed me this time, but the next time I hear about you treating a new demigod like a criminal when they have done no crime" Silva immediately released his bloodlust making Reyna kneel to the ground.
"I'll finish the job I didn't complete this time" Silva warned as he began walking out of the camp, leaving the inhabitants of Camp Jupiter with nightmares that will last for a long time.
A/N- hope you like it.
