Chapter 267 - Chapter 267: Obscurus

The blotting-out black mist swept toward Snape with absolute fury, like a flood bursting through an opened dam.

Kyle's mind was currently a chaotic mess; the only remaining thought he had was to tear this enemy into shreds.

Amidst a mass of black mist that seemed to be boiling, the light of spells could be faintly seen.

Snape was using almost every ounce of his strength to maintain the barrier. However, under Kyle's utterly violent magic, even a fully maintained, ultra-strong Shield Charm—Protego Maxima—could not support itself for more than ten seconds.

Feeling the impact of Kyle's magic against the barrier, Snape's face, hidden behind his mask, became somewhat distorted.

If this continued, he would die here.

Fortunately, before he had made his move, he had already instructed Lucius to start lifting the Anti-Apparition Charm.

The timing was just right now.

When the black mist wrapping around him expanded once more, preparing to launch another assault against the barrier formed by the Protego Maxima, a soft crack sounded, and Snape's figure instantly vanished from within the barrier.

The barrier, cut off from its supply of magic, was ripped into nothingness in the blink of an eye.

A low, beast-like roar echoed from the sky-blotting black mist, the anger contained within the sound causing one's heart to tremble with fear.

Having lost his target, Kyle's consciousness cleared up slightly.

Occlumency began to operate at high speed, and the frantic black mist also slowly restored its calm, subsequently shrinking and condensing gradually.

As the last bit of the black mist was gathered back into his body, Kyle also reverted to his human form.

Panting heavily for breath and completely disregarding his own strange state just now, Kyle lunged fiercely to Hermione's side.

Kneeling down beside Hermione, Kyle clumsily and frantically checked her condition. It wasn't until he saw where Hermione's wound was located that he finally put his heart at ease.

"Thank goodness, you're still alive."

He discovered that although the other party's sword had pierced through between her lungs, it had accurately avoided Hermione's vital organs.

What Kyle did not know was that the other party's original intention was never to kill them, but rather only to capture him, using him to coerce Dumbledore into exchanging the Elder Wand for him.

Therefore, with this sword strike, mercy had been shown.

Even if Dumbledore and Grindelwald could not break through the obstruction of the other two Peverells for the time being, Hermione would not die from this minor injury.

Fengqiuhuang had pierced through Hermione's body, pinning the girl to the ground.

Kyle pulled it out, tossed it aside with disgust, and a glowing green light lit up in the palm of his hand.

As he pressed his palm against the wound on Hermione's back, that horrific puncture wound began to heal rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.

It was just that Hermione's face remained somewhat pale, but Kyle truly had no strength left to help treat her further.

Only after finishing all of this did an unprecedentedly intense exhaustion hit Kyle's brain like a tidal wave.

He had already exhausted all of his physical strength in the battle just now.

His hands drooped weakly, and Kyle fell headfirst onto the ground.

Before his eyes closed completely, Kyle seemed to hear two sounds of Apparition, and two gray-haired figures were rapidly rushing toward his direction.

If nothing unexpected had happened, Dumbledore and Grindelwald must have arrived.

It looked like Hermione was safe.

Only then did Kyle close his eyes with peace of mind.

Not knowing how much time had passed, Kyle slowly opened his eyes.

The darkness in his vision gradually faded, replaced by a somewhat familiar ceiling.

Basically, after every Quidditch match, he had to come here to visit his opponents. How could he not be familiar with it?

Kyle's thoughts were still stuck at the last moment before he lost consciousness.

How was Hermione?

Propping up his body with his elbows, Kyle wanted to climb up to look for Hermione's figure.

Before he could even sit up, Dumbledore's voice came from beside his ear.

"Miss Granger is perfectly fine."

Hearing Dumbledore's words, Kyle breathed a sigh of relief, but his gaze still searched the hospital wing for traces of Hermione.

Turning his head to the other side, he saw that on the neighboring hospital bed, the girl's figure was lying there peacefully, sleeping very soundly.

Grindelwald's voice also arrived at the appropriate time: "Most of the injuries on her body are minor, but the quantity is truly too many."

Dumbledore explained softly, "Even though you treated her most serious wound in time, for Miss Granger to wake up, it will take at least another day."

"It's good that she's fine." The expression on Kyle's face softened a bit more.

Right now in the hospital wing, there were only he and Hermione as the two patients.

There was no sign of the Six Paths of Pain; it was estimated that Black Zetsu had released the Summoning Jutsu and sent them back into the suitcase.

After all, the Six Paths of Pain were all clones. When requesting reinforcements, just talking face-to-face was fine; his two old dads probably just thought of them as subordinates he had recruited.

But if either of the two old men stepped in to help treat Pain, then it would be exposed instantly.

Grindelwald was fine; the Dark Lord didn't think such experiments were a big deal, but the White Lord of his family would absolutely skin him alive.

After checking on Hermione's situation, only then did Kyle turn his head to look at his two old dads. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were both sitting right beside his hospital bed.

It was just that Dumbledore's nose looked as though it was a bit more crooked than last time.

Previously, his nose looked to be deviating from a normal nose by only twenty or thirty degrees.

But this time, it looked to be deviating by at least forty-odd degrees.

It was probably Grindelwald who had landed another punch on his face.

Kyle had already gotten used to it; every time he encountered danger at Hogwarts, Grindelwald would find trouble with Dumbledore.

After all, on the territory of Old Dumbledore, the greatest White Wizard, Kyle should have been very safe, but the result was that he suffered attacks one after another.

Dumbledore's title as the greatest White Wizard...

Grindelwald: Do you even make keys? What kind of key do you make?

Therefore, it was also understandable that Grindelwald gave Dumbledore a severe thrashing.

Although Kyle had not read the seven original novels and did not understand the original plot of this world, he knew that during the seven years Harry was at school, Hogwarts would absolutely never be peaceful.

In the future, dangerous things would definitely not be lacking.

If things went on like this, it probably wouldn't be too difficult for Dumbledore's nose and his face to become completely parallel in the future.

Lifting the blanket covering his body, Kyle sat cross-legged on the hospital bed.

"Back then... did I turn into an Obscurus?"

Grindelwald nodded slightly, counting as an answer to Kyle's question.

Regarding the fact that Kyle had suddenly become an Obscurial, actually, neither of the two old men was very surprised.

Because Kyle's magic, whether in quality or quantity, far surpassed young wizards of the same age.

Such an extraordinarily gifted talent was extremely easy to give rise to an Obscurus.

Generally speaking, an Obscurus is generated because a young wizard lacks guidance, fails to learn to harness and control their own power, and suppresses their magical power under external oppression.

But that was only for ordinary wizards.

Kyle's magic was too vast; even if he did not suppress his own power, under the circumstance of lacking guidance, it would also give rise to an Obscurus.

Back when Dumbledore found Kyle, he had actually already made the psychological preparation that Kyle was an Obscurial.

But what he didn't expect was that after Kyle experienced his first magic obscuration, he actually realized his own extraordinariness, and then found a place to lay low by himself, silently training his own magical power.

It was precisely because of his cultivation that he could utilize his own power freely, which was why he had not become an Obscurial.

And now, with Kyle suddenly erupting and becoming an Obscurial, Dumbledore and Grindelwald did not feel much surprise either.

The consensus of the wizarding world was that Obscurials could not live past the age of ten.

However, with Aurelius as a prior example, those Obscurials who failed to live past ten could only be said to be not strong enough, insufficient to withstand the backlash of the Obscurus.

Furthermore, regarding Kyle's real age, if one truly had to count from the day he was born, then he would be forty-eight years old.

What do you mean by not living past ten? Heh...
