For decades, Harajuku had firmly established itself as one of Tokyo's most iconic fashion hubs, a true bastion of street culture.
Packed with trendy boutiques and cafes, it was the perfect spot for anyone chasing cuteness, edginess, or just a way to stand out from the crowd.
Since Satoru Gojo was away on a mission last night and didn't stay at Jujutsu High, he'd put Megumi Fushiguro in charge, tasking him with bringing Amber and Yuji here.
"Another Special Grade curse... feels like we've been talking about Special Grades a lot lately," Yuji mused.
With Gojo not yet arrived, the trio fell into conversation near the station entrance.
After learning about Amber's situation, Megumi couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
He'd initially thought she didn't belong in this world and hoped she could stay away from the jujutsu scene.
Turns out, that was impossible. Hosting a Special Grade curse meant the higher-ups would never let someone like her roam free.
"But it's not so bad, right? At least Seele-chan won't be executed or anything," Yuji said with a grin.
"I wish I was that strong. Sukuna sounds impressive and all, but he seems way weaker than Seele-chan's curse."
Gojo hadn't given Yuji the full picture, not because it was forbidden, but simply because he felt it was better for the students to learn about each other naturally.
Amber, for her part, saw no reason to hide things and shared the story of her first day in the jujutsu world with the other two.
Hearing about Amber's experiences and condition, Yuji Itadori was practically green with envy. They were both vessels, so how come she could so naturally say, 'I'm counting on you, other me'?
A split personality, with the other one saving the day in a crisis—it was just like something out of a manga protagonist's playbook.
Not to mention she'd instantly obliterated a terrifying Special Grade curse spirit right after appearing.
The thought made Yuji glance down with disdain. 'And he calls himself the King of Curses? He's nowhere near as good as the other Seele-chan.'
"Brat, if you want to see this one's true power, gather my fingers faster," Sukuna's voice grated, irked at being looked down upon by his own vessel.
He snarled, "Once you've collected them all, I'll let you live just long enough to watch me torture and slaughter your classmates, and that so-called Special Grade curse of hers."
"Not happening. I'll suppress you. And stop popping out! We're in the middle of the street!" Yuji smacked the mouth that had formed on his cheek.
"The other me has something to say," Amber interjected, relaying Dark Amber's original message after Sukuna fell silent: "'King of Curses? Merely a mortal fortunate enough to be born in an era without me.'"
Sukuna: ???
The line, meant to be domineering and dripping with contempt, lost some of its edge delivered in the girl's gentle tone, but the sheer disregard for him still came through loud and clear.
"You little brat! You'll regret those words! I'll devour you and that girl you're sharing a body with—bones and all!"
"Stop coming out! Why can't you be more like the other Seele-chan?" Yuji frowned, covering the new mouth on the back of his hand with his other palm.
Sukuna couldn't be bothered wasting more breath on his foolish vessel.
"Well, looks like you're all getting along famously?" A voice called from the direction of the station. They turned to see Satoru Gojo, dressed in his black-and-purple high-collared uniform, sporting his black eyepatch, his hair tied up resembling a badminton shuttlecock.
"Sensei? What's with the getup?" Yuji almost didn't recognize him.
"Hmm~ I'd say this is more like my classic skin, really," Gojo chuckled, his gaze sweeping over the three, lingering on Yuji. "Looks like it worked out fine. How does it feel? That hastily made uniform of yours."
"It's pretty good," Yuji said, moving his arms. "Easy to move in, and even scissors can't cut it. But why does it look different from Fushiguro's?"
"You can customize how the uniform looks if you request it," Gojo explained. "This was personally designed by your dear Gojo-sensei, you know~"
"Eh? Really?" Yuji looked down at his clothes. They weren't bad at all.
"Be careful," Megumi said flatly. "It's a bad habit of Gojo-sensei's. He often does unnecessary things."
Yuji didn't mind much, instead looking at Amber with a hint of pity. "But Seele-chan is the only one of us four in casual clothes. Won't it look weird, all standing together?"
Amber was indeed still in her 'classic skin'—the default outfit that came with her character card. With no time to shop for clothes these past couple of days, she had to make do.
Come to think of it, Nobara loved shopping. Amber, having been cooped up in the hospital, hadn't been out much and was actually looking forward to it. Maybe the two of them would get along.
"Well, little Seele isn't a Jujutsu High student, after all. But you're right, it's better for students to wear their proper uniforms, isn't it? Walking around in casual clothes on a weekday might get you mistaken for a delinquent..." Gojo actually seemed to ponder this seriously.
"No one would ever mistake Seele for a delinquent," Megumi cut in. "And isn't there a new student enrolling? Why are we meeting here?"
"Ah, because she specifically requested it," Gojo explained.
"She's shopping around here right now. It's still early, so let's walk around and look for her. The Jujutsu High uniform is pretty conspicuous; just go say hello when you spot her."
"Okay!" Yuji, who had been looking forward to seeing Harajuku himself, was fully on board.
In contrast, Megumi seemed less enthusiastic; he wasn't a fan of crowded, noisy places.
Amber, much like Yuji, found this different. While she could have gone shopping in her previous world... even if Uruk's markets were bustling, Amber never really felt the desire to browse there. Here was different—a vibrant, modern shopping street held a genuine appeal for her.
With the plan set, the group didn't dawdle.
Leaving the station, they headed towards Harajuku's main street. It wasn't particularly wide, but was crammed with all sorts of shops, from vendors selling giant cotton candy to stores filled with dazzling accessories—a real feast for the eyes.
Unfortunately, Amber didn't have strong opinions on where to shop, and Yuji, who was better at energizing the group, was a guy mostly focused on finding things that interested him.
Even so, Amber was in high spirits. Though the crowd made her social anxiety flare up, everyone was so absorbed in their own business, hardly anyone paid attention to others, so it was still manageable.
Until a figure hurried over to her side and spoke up with a smile that was both ingratiating and eager. "Um... miss? Would you be interested in debuting as an idol?"
