"Holy crap, still going!?"
Knowing that her other self probably wouldn't adjust easily, Amber—who had switched to using that Kiana Kaslana character card—looked down at the document in her hand with surprise.
It wasn't some business plan or research report, but an ordinary school admission letter.
Still, the school name printed on it was quite famous—at least, Amber had seen it mentioned plenty of times before.
Tsukinomori Girls' Academy.
"I made sure to keep this a secret, since… well, it could be a nice surprise."
Black Amber raised an eyebrow.
Even though she was currently using Raiden Mei's character card—with her soft, gentle features and unassuming beauty fitting the classic Yamato Nadeshiko ideal—the aura of her soul made her seem less like Mei and more like the Herrscher of Thunder herself.
"Thank you!"
Amber looked up and grinned, "I really like this surprise!"
MyGO had been a series she followed closely before—not just the original work, but the fan creations too.
In Amber's eyes, there weren't many stories that could portray every member of a girl band so vividly.
Over time, character archetypes in these genres inevitably start to overlap; "labels" have become an inescapable part of girl band or idol narratives.
Plus, since works like these usually leaned heavily into fantasy and idealism, the raw, genuine feeling MyGO carried was truly rare.
Because of that, Amber adored both the series and its characters.
"But… why is this world so unusual? MyGO and magical girls appearing together…"
Remembering this didn't seem to be the most peaceful of worlds, Amber couldn't help but worry about the fates of those beloved characters.
"Don't worry, nothing you're concerned about has happened. I kept a close eye on them as soon as I noticed their presence here."
Black Amber said, "But I didn't interfere with their paths either. Maybe it's just something special about this place—they've developed pretty much exactly like they did in the 'story,' at least without any major deviations."
"I see…"
Amber understood that well enough—after all, she was special too.
"Speaking of which, where is this…?"
Setting her worries aside, Amber began to observe her surroundings. This was clearly a multi-story residential building—no, judging by the view outside the window, it looked more like a villa district.
"Consider it the Japanese equivalent of Tomson Riviera. After all, I am the leader of World Serpent and the overseer of Schicksal."
Black Amber wasn't one to compromise on her living standards.
World Serpent operated mostly underground, staying out of the public eye, so on paper, this villa was registered as Theresa Apocalypse's residence.
Seeing Amber still looking a bit lost, the black-haired girl smiled.
"You just got here today. Why don't you head out first to buy some daily necessities? 'Raiden Mei' doesn't have a registered identity in this world yet, so you'll need to cover the expenses for now."
"Huh? Isn't Kiana in the same boat?"
"I set up identities and savings for all the other character cards so we can use them anytime. Raiden Mei's the only one you just drew recently."
"Of course you'd have everything prepared!"
At that, Amber suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
It seemed like, whether in the last world or this one, it was always Black Amber working hard to create a worry-free environment for her.
She wasn't the type to shy away from expressing herself anymore, especially not with Black Amber, who was essentially another part of herself.
"Thanks for all the hard work again. How about today, I take care of you instead? If you're always looking after me, I'll end up feeling like a useless freeloader."
"No need for 'taking care'... But if you really want to thank me…"
Black Amber's eyes shifted thoughtfully before she offered another idea.
"How about… you promise me that in this world, you'll follow the character card's behavior more closely and seriously?"
"Huh?"
What kind of thank-you request was that? To avoid breaking her "2D wife's" character image, she always followed the card's behavior anyway.
Was the emphasis on more closely and seriously?
Though she didn't fully understand Black Amber's meaning, since she was the one who offered compensation, she couldn't exactly back out now.
"Alright, I promise."
Amber nodded.
Seeing this, Black Amber's smile deepened. Paired with the impression Mei's appearance gave Amber, it made her look especially gentle for a moment.
Fortunately, Amber knew both of them were masters at staying in character, and she shouldn't confuse the "person inside" with the role itself.
Even so, Mei really was beautiful—that mature, almost wifely vibe had quite an effect on Amber.
The villa had no servants or butlers, so there was no need to worry about how others might view "two strangers suddenly appearing in the room."
Fully prepared, Black Amber produced two unlocked phones and a credit card registered under "Kiana."
As for outfits to go out in, neither of them really had a choice.
After all, Theresa's clothes definitely wouldn't fit them, so they had to stick with the character cards' default skins—the classic white and purple school uniforms, from the same school but in two different color schemes.
[Character Card: Kiana Kaslana (Third Eruption), Character Card: Raiden Mei (Third Eruption)]
Since Amber's current power no longer needed any boosting from character cards, Black Amber had suggested there was no need to waste too much approval points on drawing new ones.
Even after spending a century in the Date A Live world and gaining worldwide recognition—along with an endless stream of approval points—Black Amber still held the view that "just unlocking the gallery is enough."
After all, there was no telling if some ridiculously strong character might get a rate-up later.
Approval points wouldn't depreciate if saved, but spending them on draws that offered no real improvement would be a waste.
Pushing open the front door at the entrance, sunlight naturally spilled over them. Without the constant feeling of being revered and watched like in the previous world, Amber felt completely at ease.
"Where should we go first? Is the geography here the same as in Date A Live?"
"Though it's the same country, there are quite a few differences."
Unlike Amber, who immediately broke into a bright smile, Black Amber had long lost any sense of novelty about this world.
Her smile remained gentle as she continued, "But, Kiana, don't you think you've forgotten something?"
Kiana?
Amber didn't react at first. There was no one else around, so why jump into "roleplay" mode now?
"Did you forget what you promised me earlier? To follow the character's persona more seriously."
Black Amber's smile stayed in place, yet somehow it made Amber feel a little weak.
Thinking about what Kiana would probably do in this situation, Amber turned and linked arms with Black Amber. "L-Let's go! Mei!"
Recalling some of Kiana's more… memorable lines from the early days, Amber felt her scalp tingle.
Was Black Amber bored and holding a grudge, wanting to see her embarrass herself for fun?
Even though her scalp was tingling, a promise was a promise. Amber could only steel herself and keep going.
