Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Time Eaters

Recap: As the Candy Cosmos begins to distort, Chrona and Kail immediately sense that something is wrong. Their auras activate—Chrona's calm and stabilizing, Kail's heavy with destruction—as they search for an unseen presence that feels like it's everywhere at once.

Eve suddenly becomes overwhelmed with fear—not because of what she sees, but because of what she feels. A presence with hostile intent begins to surround her, causing her joy to fade and her once-bright world to darken. Clinging tightly to Adam for safety, Eve reveals that something spoke to her… something that wanted to eat her.

As the Candy Cosmos begins to decay alongside Eve's fear, a strange sound echoes through space—

"munch… munch…"

Drawn by curiosity, Genesis approaches the source without hesitation, while the others watch cautiously. What they discover is an unnatural creature—a distorted black mass with only a mouth and eyes, devouring pieces of the Candy Cosmos as if they never existed.

While Kail and Chrona struggle to understand what they're seeing, Adam quickly realizes the truth—Eve isn't afraid of its appearance…

She's afraid of its intention.

He immediately warns Genesis to stay back

But it's already too late.

In an instant, the creature reacts.

At a speed beyond perception—

It bites.

Genesis's hand is not cut… not torn…

…but completely erased.

The first encounter with the unknown ends in shock—

and the realization that whatever this thing is…

it does not follow the rules of their world.

Setting: Candy Cosmos

Kail (in distress, shouting):

"GENESISSSSSSSSSS!!!"

Chrona (shocked, eyes wide):

"It took a bite of his hand without any hesitation… that's insane!!!"

Adam (serious expression, standing firm as Eve clings to his side):

"Not only did it bite him without hesitation… Father's hand wasn't just bitten off."

"…It was erased from existence."

(He narrows his eyes slightly.)

"I can't sense it at all."

Eve (terrified, gripping Adam tighter):

"A-Adam… is Papa going to be… okay…?"

Adam (calm, warm expression):

"Father is going to be fine, Eve."

(He glances down at her, steady and reassuring.)

"But Eve… what else do you remember about those things?"

"Did they say what they were?"

Eve (terrified, voice shaking):

"Y-yes…"

(She grips his clothes tighter.)

"After they said they were going to eat…"

"…it told me its name."

(Her body trembles.)

"When I heard it… I couldn't stop shaking…"

"I'm so scared, Adam…"

Adam (calm, protective):

"Don't worry, Eve."

"I'll make sure you're safe."

(His eyes sharpen slightly.)

"What do they call themselves?"

Eve (barely able to say it):

"…Time Eaters."

(She swallows, voice trembling.)

"They said… they devour anything… and everything in their path…"

Adam (thinking, analytical):

"Time Eaters… huh."

(He looks around at the decaying Candy Cosmos.)

"That explains Father's hand… and the way they're consuming everything."

(A pause.)

"But that raises a bigger question…"

(His gaze sharpens.)

"Where are they coming from… and why?"

Chrona (floating in the sky, panicking, yelling):

"NOT ONLY DO THEY HAVE A SCARY NAME—THEY LOOK DISGUSTING TOO!!!"

"AND THEY'RE EATING EVERYTHING THEY SEE!!!!"

Adam (sighing, calm but slightly annoyed):

"…And Mother and Father aren't even paying attention… at a time like this."

A few moments earlier…

Before Eve reveals the name Time Eaters—

Kail is already focused on something else.

Genesis

Kail (stepping closer than usual, grabbing his arm—tighter than she realizes):

"…Genesis."

(Her eyes lock onto him.)

"Are you actually hurt or not?"

(A short pause—her voice drops just a little.)

"…Answer me."

Genesis (pauses… then suddenly realizes, guilty smile forming):

"Ohhh—waittttt…"

"I just remembered…"

(He rubs the back of his head.)

"I can't feel pain."

…Silence.

Kail's expression slowly darkens.

Her aura flickers.

Kail (exploding with rage):

"WHY DO YOU KEEP MESSING WITH MEEEEEEEE?!"

Black Yin energy erupts around her leg—

She Pivots—

BAM!!!

Her kick slams straight into Genesis's side.

Genesis (folding slightly, eyes wide):

"OWWWWWWWWWW—THAT REALLY HURT!!!"

(He looks at her, half-offended, half-panicking.)

"Did you forget I can feel pain when it's YOU hitting me?!"

Kail turns away, hiding her face from Genesis.

Her Yin Energy of Destruction flickers around her body—unstable… like it's reacting to her emotions, like she's barely holding it together.

Genesis slowly touches the spot where she kicked him.

A faint trace of her destruction energy lingers there.

He pauses.

His expression softens.

Guilt settles in.

Genesis (softly, stepping closer):

"Kail, I'm—"

Before he can finish—

Kail (cutting him off, voice sharp but shaking):

"Why are you messing around right now?!"

She clenches her fists.

Her aura flickers harder.

Kail (voice breaking through anger):

"WHAT IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY HURT—?!"

Her voice cracks.

The anger… fades.

Kail (quieter now, trembling):

"…I didn't even know what those things could do…"

Her shoulders shake slightly.

Kail (tearful, struggling to hold herself together):

"Seeing Eve that scared… it felt like I was failing her… as her mother…"

She grips her arm tightly.

Kail (voice unsteady):

"I was trying so hard to stay calm… for her… for all of you…"

"…to make it seem like everything was going to be okay…"

A pause.

Her voice drops even lower.

Kail (barely holding it together):

"But when you got hurt… and for a second it felt like you were actually in danger…"

(She exhales shakily.)

"…I couldn't…"

Her aura suddenly spikes—like it's about to explode—then collapses.

She falls silent.

Before she can say anything else—

Genesis gently steps behind her…

…and wraps his arms around her in a warm hug.

Genesis (gently, softly):

"I'm so sorry, Kail…"

"I didn't mean to make you cry… I was just being careless…"

Kail stays in his arms for a moment… like the hug alone is enough to steady her.

Then—

Kail (muttering, trying to hide it):

"I wasn't crying, you idiot."

Genesis smiles faintly.

He gently turns her around to face him.

Without hesitation, he wipes the tears from her cheeks… absorbing them into his fingertips.

Genesis (teasing, soft grin):

"Then what's all this water on your face?"

Kail's face instantly turns red.

Kail (flustered, snapping):

"AGHHH—DON'T ABSORB MY TEARS, YOU WEIRDO!!!"

Suddenly—

A distortion rips through the air.

One of the Time Eaters appears right behind them and lunges forward at full speed.

CHOMP—

Genesis doesn't even turn around.

He flicks his finger.

The tear he absorbed condenses into a microscopic point of energy and fires.

A silent shot.

Too small to see.

Too fast to react.

BOOOOM—

The Time Eater explodes instantly.

Erased.

Genesis (softly, thinking out loud):

"…I see."

"They eat whatever they perceive…"

(He glances slightly.)

"So what if I hit them with something they can't perceive?"

Kail tries to hold it in—but a small laugh slips out.

Kail (smirking, wiping her face):

"That's… surprisingly creative… coming from someone who can't even remember half his own thoughts."

Genesis (laughing):

"Hey, you're not wrong."

They lean closer again—naturally, without hesitation.

They kiss.

Suddenly—

The space around them fractures.

20 Time Eaters appear, surrounding them mid-kiss.

Their mouths stretch wide—biting at the air, trying to reach them as reality distorts around their hunger.

Kail doesn't pull away.

Still kissing Genesis—

She lifts her leg.

Yin Energy erupts around it—dense, absolute destruction.

Without even looking—

She kicks upward.

SHHHHHHHK—

In a single motion—

All 20 Time Eaters are erased.

No explosion.

No resistance.

Just… gone.

She slowly lowers her leg.

Still calm.

Still composed.

Still close to him.

Genesis (pulling back slightly, surprised):

"Wow… Kail, I forgot how flexible you are."

Kail (smirking, brushing her hair back):

"Then you better burn that into your skull."

"Next time, you might not get off so lightly."

Genesis (nervous smile, rubbing his side):

"Ahhhh yeah… I'd really prefer not to feel your kicks again…"

Kail (laughing softly):

"Haaa… then stop giving me reasons to kick you."

(She glances back toward the others, her expression shifting slightly.)

Kail (calmer):

"Come on… let's get back to the kids."

Back in the present…

Genesis and Kail walk through the air like it's solid ground, heading back toward their children.

Around them, the Candy Cosmos is no longer bright and playful.

It's being devoured.

Time Eaters drift everywhere—biting, chewing, consuming anything they see. Candy stars flicker out of existence. Sweet clouds collapse. Even the space itself feels like it's being eaten away.

"munch… munch… munch…"

Eve watches them.

Her fear is still there…

…but so is her curiosity.

Her eyes light up.

Eve (running toward them, scared but excited):

"MAMAAAAA!! PAPAAAAAA!!"

Genesis turns instantly, smiling.

Genesis (warm, relieved):

"Eveeeeeee!"

Kail looks over too—her expression softening, even if she tries to hide it.

Kail (calm, but faintly smiling):

"Try not to run with your eyes closed, Eve."

Eve keeps running—

Eyes half shut.

Arms open.

Trusting them completely.

Then—

Everything shifts.

The Time Eaters stop.

All at once.

Their mouths freeze mid-bite.

Their eyes snap toward Eve.

Silence.

Then—

They move.

A swarm of Time Eaters bursts forward at once—flying straight toward her, drawn to her presence like predators locking onto prey.

The air distorts around them.

The speed is unreal.

In that same instant—

Adam and Chrona vanish.

FWIP—

They reappear on both sides of Eve—

Adam on her left.

Chrona on her right.

Both facing forward.

Both ready.

Chrona Starts to chant her Spell and Chrona raises her hand slowly…

Her expression shifts.

No more playfulness.

Just focus.

Chrona (focused, quietly):

"Time Magic Spell Technique… Absolute Time Stop."

In an instant—

A translucent sphere forms, expanding outward and wrapping around every Time Eater charging from Eve's right side.

Then—

Silence.

Everything inside the sphere freezes.

Mid-motion.

Mid-bite.

Mid-existence.

Time… stops.

Chrona exhales, already looking slightly drained.

Chrona (tired, dragging her words):

"Ahhhhh… now I have to rush this…"

(She glances at the frozen swarm.)

"…because you're all just going to eat through the spell anyway…"

"So much work…"

Her hand lifts again—

But this time, the energy changes.

Heavier.

Darker.

More violent.

Chrona (bored expression):

"Spiritual Space Technique… Black Hole."

A small point of darkness forms in front of her palm—

Then collapses inward—

WHOOOOM—

A black hole erupts into existence.

The frozen Time Eaters are instantly dragged toward it.

Their bodies stretch, twist, and tear apart as space itself crushes them from every direction.

Even in frozen time—

They're destroyed.

Compressed.

Erased.

Then—

…poof.

Nothing remains.

The time sphere shatters.

Time resumes.

Like nothing ever happened.

Chrona lowers her hand, completely unfazed.

She turns her head slightly toward Adam—

still bored.

Still unimpressed.

Chrona:

"Are you done yet, Adam…?"

(She tilts her head slightly.)

"…or do you need help?"

Adam (focused, eyes locked on the Time Eaters):

"…Sadly, I don't."

The swarm continues closing in.

Closer.

Hungrier.

"munch… munch… munch…"

The sound echoes around them—unsettling, constant, getting louder with every second.

Adam doesn't move.

He simply opens his Book of Genesis.

Golden light spills out.

His expression sharpens.

Adam (focused, writing as he chants):

"Writing Magic Spell Technique…"

(His pen glows brighter with each word.)

"…A sword that burns hotter and brighter than the sun."

Adam's Writing Magic summons a blazing sword in front of him.

Flames coil around the blade like a living inferno, roaring with the heat of a newborn star.

Without hesitation—

Adam grips the sword.

His expression sharp.

Focused.

Unshaken.

Adam (concentrated, ready to attack):

"Absolute Blazing Inferno!!!"

He swings.

A single slash—

And the world erupts.

Flames explode outward, swallowing the swarm of Time Eaters whole. The Candy Cosmos is lit up in a violent burst of fire, the heat bending space and turning everything into a sea of blazing destruction.

For a moment—

Nothing can be seen.

Only fire.

Only heat.

Only destruction.

Then—

"…munch…"

"…munch… munch…"

The flames… shift.

Something moves inside them.

Biting.

Chewing.

Eating.

Adam's eyes narrow.

Out of the inferno—

The Time Eaters emerge.

Burned.

Distorted.

But alive.

Their mouths stretch wider than before—

Blackened energy flickering around them—

As pieces of Adam's flames twist into their bodies.

They didn't just survive—

They adapted.

Time Eaters (distorted, uneven voices):

"Munch… munch… munch…"

"That… tasted… goooood…"

Adam's expression hardens, a hint of disgust crossing his face.

Adam (disgusted, analytical):

"…Great."

"Now they can absorb my magic… and they can talk."

He tightens his grip on the sword, flames intensifying again.

Adam (calm, but more serious now):

"…Let's see if you can survive this next spell."

Adam tightens his grip on the blazing sword in his left hand.

The flames roar higher… but his eyes don't change.

Still calm.

Still focused.

Then—

With his right hand, he reaches out.

His feather pen appears instantly between his fingers.

The Book of Genesis rises beside him, floating, glowing with infinite golden light.

Pages flip rapidly—

SHFF—SHFF—SHFF—

Stopping exactly where he needs it.

Adam slowly raises his left arm, the flaming sword pointing toward the sky.

At the same time—

He begins to write.

Adam (focused, steady chant):

"Writing Magic Spell Technique…"

His pen glows brighter with every word, magic pouring into reality itself.

"My flaming sword… will transform…"

The flames around the blade begin to distort—

Crackling—

Changing—

"…into a thunder and lightning staff of pure chaos and destruction…"

The fire collapses inward—

Lightning sparks violently from within it.

BOOM—CRRRRACK—

Thunder echoes across the Candy Cosmos.

"…a lightning so powerful… that a single strike…"

The sky darkens.

Clouds form out of nothing.

Energy builds.

"…will erase my target… into absolute nothingness."

The final word is written.

For a split second—

Everything goes silent.

Then—

CRAAAAAACK—

The flaming sword shatters—

Reforming instantly into a massive staff made of pure lightning and roaring thunder.

Electricity coils around it like a living storm, striking the air over and over again.

The ground beneath Adam fractures from the pressure alone.

Adam grips the staff firmly.

Completely composed.

Completely in control.

Adam (calm, powerful):

"…Thunder and Lightning Staff of Zeus."

(He tilts his head slightly.)

"…God of Thunder and Lightning."

Lightning explodes outward from the staff, illuminating his face—

And for the first time—

Adam looks like a true creation of Genesis.

Adam's grip tightens around the staff.

Lightning coils violently around his body, thunder roaring across the Candy Cosmos.

His expression sharpens—

No hesitation.

No doubt.

Adam (serious, cold):

"You're not the only ones who can adapt…"

(He lowers the staff slightly, pointing it toward them.)

"Now be gone."

(His voice drops—more personal now.)

"You disgusting vermin…"

A brief pause.

Then—

Adam (shouting):

"FOR SCARING MY LOVE—"

"EVE!!!"

The Time Eaters freeze.

For the first time—

They hesitate.

Their bodies twitch.

Their mouths tremble.

Then—

They turn.

And run.

Time Eaters (distorted, panicked voices):

"Too strong…"

"Run awayyyyyyy—"

"Run… run… RUN—"

But it's already too late.

Adam lifts the staff—

Then slams it down.

BOOOOOOOOM—

The moment the base of the staff touches—

The sky splits open.

A massive thundercloud forms instantly above the swarm—

Dark.

Endless.

Violent.

Then—

CRAAAAAAAAAACK—

A bolt of lightning descends.

No—

Not a bolt.

A pillar of divine thunder crashes down from the heavens.

It engulfs everything.

The light consumes the entire Candy Cosmos—

Blinding.

Overwhelming.

Unavoidable.

The blast expands—

Growing—

Spreading—

Until it reaches the scale of a universe itself.

Everything inside it—

Is erased.

No remains.

No sound.

No resistance.

Just… gone.

Then—

Silence.

The light slowly fades.

The Candy Cosmos stabilizes again—

Though still damaged…

Still shaken.

Adam stands there, staff in hand.

Unharmed.

Unmoved.

Behind him—

Eve.

Chrona.

Genesis.

Kail.

All untouched by the destruction.

Chrona (tired, floating lazily):

"Well… I guess he didn't need any help after all."

Genesis (eyes sparkling, hyped):

"WOWWWWWWW—ADAM AND CHRONA ARE SOOOOO COOLLLLLL!!!"

Kail (arms crossed, proud but composed):

"They handled that perfectly… even after the Time Eaters evolved."

"…They still overwhelmed them."

Before anyone can say anything else—

Eve suddenly vanishes—

FWIP—

She reappears, crashing right into Adam's chest, wrapping her arms tightly around him.

Kail notices immediately.

That feeling.

That overwhelming warmth.

Love.

Eve (voice softer now, but full of emotion):

"Thank you sooo much for helping me, Adammmmm…"

Adam looks down at her, calm as always… but gentler now.

Adam (softly):

"Don't worry about it."

"I'll always keep you safe."

Eve's face turns red.

Without thinking—

She leans in—

and kisses his cheek.

Both of them freeze.

Then—

they both start blushing.

Chrona (floating upside down, completely unimpressed):

"…Don't I get a thank you, Eve?"

Eve turns instantly, smiling bright again.

Eve (happy):

"Yeahhh!! Thank you, Chrona!!!"

Chrona (shrugs, half-smiling):

"…You're welcome."

Genesis (watching, smiling warmly):

"Looks like Eve's happy again…"

Kail glances at Eve, her expression softening just a little.

Kail (curious, raising an eyebrow):

"…You must really love Adam, huh?"

The Candy Cosmos begins to respond.

Slowly—

the darkness fades.

Color returns.

Candy stars reignite.

Clouds reform.

Unicorns come back to life.

Everything grows brighter… warmer… stronger than before.

Eve (smiling, blushing as she holds Adam's arm):

"Mhm… I love him very much."

"…Just like you love Papa, Mama."

Kail freezes.

Her face turns red instantly.

Kail (flustered):

"W-What—WHEN DID I SAY THAT?!"

Eve tilts her head, confused.

Eve:

"…Wait… so you don't love him?"

Kail panics.

Kail (blushing harder):

"I DIDN'T SAY I DIDN'T—!!"

Genesis bursts out laughing.

Adam smiles quietly.

For a moment—

everything feels normal again.

Warm.

Peaceful.

Safe.

Then

Space bends.

A low, unnatural sound spreads across the Candy Cosmos.

Not loud.

Not sharp.

Just… wrong.

The sky begins to distort—

but this time—

it's bigger.

Much bigger.

The light twists.

The stars flicker.

Reality itself starts to fold.
