Chapter 15 – The Girl Beside My Seat
The classroom was already filled with a soft buzz of voices, mixed with the faint scent of perfume and freshly cleaned desks. Girls sat in small groups, giggling and whispering while occasionally glancing toward me — some trying to be subtle, others clearly not even pretending.
Saeko had just walked in and taken her seat beside me. Her face was red, her eyes flickering between her textbook and my direction like she was struggling to stay calm. Every few seconds, she'd tuck a strand of hair behind her ear and glance my way again — only to look away immediately whenever our eyes met.
I couldn't help but smile a little. So she's still nervous, huh?
As I leaned back in my chair, the sunlight from the window fell across my desk, and I could feel every gaze lock onto me again. It was a strange feeling — like I was both a student and an idol at the same time.
From the corner of the room, two girls whispered behind their notebooks.
"Did you see that? He smiled again!"
"Ahhh, his smile could literally melt a diamond!"
"Stop exaggerating!"
"I'm not! If he smiled at me like that, I'd faint!"
Another girl, sitting near the door, sighed dreamily.
"I can't believe Saeko gets to sit beside him. She's living the dream. I'd trade my all money for that seat any day."
Meanwhile, Saeko's hand trembled slightly as she opened her notebook. She was trying so hard to act normal, but her ears were completely red. I noticed she kept stealing small glances at me like she was debating whether to start a conversation or not.
Poor girl, I thought, she probably overthought everything after yesterday.
I looked over at her and decided to break the silence.
"Hey, Saeko," I said softly.
Her shoulders instantly stiffened. "Y-Yes!?" she stammered, almost jumping out of her seat.
"Relax," I chuckled. "You look like you're about to take a test. Did you sleep okay?"
Her eyes widened, then softened. "Ah, um, y-yeah… I did. I was just… thinking about yesterday," she said, voice barely above a whisper.
"Oh?" I tilted my head, pretending to think. "You mean when I gave you my number?"
Her face turned completely red. "Y-You didn't have to say it out loud!"
The girls around us all looked over instantly — like sharks smelling blood in the water. Some of them were whispering, others glaring daggers at Saeko.
"Wait… she has his number?"
"Seriously? When did that happen?"
"No way, no way! She must have begged him!"
"Ugh, lucky girl. I swear if she makes a move—"
I could almost hear the jealousy simmering in the air. It was honestly funny, but at the same time, I didn't want things to get too awkward for her.
I sighed lightly and opened my textbook, pretending to focus.
Guess I'll have to protect her from the jealous crowd too.
The teacher walked in soon after — a young woman in her late twenties, elegant but clearly tired from managing a class full of girls who were more focused on me than the lesson.
She tried to start the lecture, but every time she called on someone, their attention would drift right back toward my desk.
Even the teacher's gaze flickered to me once in a while, though she quickly looked away whenever I noticed.
Great, I thought. Now even the teacher's acting weird.
I wrote down notes slowly, pretending to listen while quietly watching Saeko's expression. She looked focused, her pen moving carefully across the page, though her lips were slightly curved — like she was happy just sitting there beside me.
It was kind of cute.
She wasn't trying to impress me with makeup or fake charm like most of the girls did. She was just… being herself. Quiet, shy, and a little awkward — but genuine.
During lunch break, I stood up and stretched.
"Hey, want to eat together?" I asked casually.
Saeko froze mid-motion, eyes wide. "E-Eh? With me?"
"Yeah, with you. You have a problem with that?"
She quickly shook her head. "N-No! I mean, yes! I mean— I'd love to!"
Her reaction was so pure that I almost laughed.
We both walked to the cafeteria together, and once again, the entire hallway felt like a stage. Girls stared, whispered, even took pictures. Some sighed dramatically; others clenched their fists like they were watching their rival walk away with their crush.
When we sat down, Saeko kept her bentobox close to her chest like it was a secret.
"You made your own?" I asked.
She nodded shyly. "Y-Yeah… it's not much, but… I like cooking."
"That's cool. I can't cook at all," I said, smiling.
Her eyes lit up a little. "Then… I could maybe… teach you sometime?"
"Hmm, maybe," I teased. "If your cooking is good enough."
She puffed her cheeks a little. "It is! You'll see!"
I laughed quietly. It was nice — peaceful, even. Despite all the attention and the crazy gender ratio in this world, these small moments felt real.
And maybe, just maybe, Saeko was someone who could handle being in my world — not because she wanted attention, but because she genuinely cared.
As lunch ended, we walked back to class, side by side. The other girls' jealous stares followed us like shadows, but I didn't mind.
This world was strange, sure — but it was mine now.
And Saeko? She was just the beginning of something bigger.
When the final bell rang, I grabbed my bag and stood up. Saeko waved gently.
"See you tomorrow, Haru-kun…"
I smiled back. "Yeah. See you tomorrow, Saeko."
Outside, my car was already waiting — the same sleek black luxury car, with my two female bodyguards standing beside it. As I got in, I leaned back and looked out the window.
The city outside shimmered in the afternoon sun — a world where men were rare, admired, protected… and sometimes envied.
And me? I was going to make the most of it.
Because in this Reverse Chastity World, I wasn't just another boy.
I was the boy.
To be continued...
