Hagakure Toru was a very observant girl. Very few details escaped her easily, and today was no exception.
From the moment the group approached the right street, she noticed all those small details that narrated her classmates' battle. Grooves in the asphalt, blackened rooftops, ripped and burned grass.
She could tell that, despite the scale at which Tetsumaru operates, the damage he causes is minimal. The control he has over his strange sand is ridiculous. So, all this was the fault of Mei and the villains.
—Pff! Haha, I guess we don't have to worry about finding the right house— Mina said with a smile that dispelled the group's awkwardness, pointing to a completely dark door.
The door and a large part of the frame around it were the same shade, which made it look more like a small gate than an actual door.
—Hmmm, if he can make doors, could he make a flying car for us to ride in?— Kaminari asked with a flash of excitement in his eyes. Everyone fell silent after his comment, pondering.
Immediately, she turned to Shoji and looked at him intensely. The big boy took a step back.
—Shōji-San... You are the closest to them. Could you propose it to Tetsumaru-San?— Mina asked with a smile and her hands clasped, in prayer form.
—Uh, sure. I'll ask him— he replied awkwardly.
The group cheered and encouraged Shoji, but there were two people who weren't paying much attention. One of them had a confused expression, and the other was observing the first.
—Is something wrong, Jiro-San?— Toru asked softly.
—N-no, nothing is wrong— she shook her head, smiling awkwardly.
Toru narrowed her eyes but let the matter go for now.
Mina was the first to knock on the sand door, which was surprisingly solid. After a moment, the always serious and somewhat intimidating Tetsumaru came out to meet them, his brow slightly furrowed.
—Hi, Tetsumaru!— Mina greeted him with a smile despite the oppressive aura of the boy whose eyes resembled her own.
After two seconds of silence, the aura receded and Tetsumaru seemed to slump his shoulders slightly.
—Hello, guys. Come in— he spoke in a somewhat dejected tone for some reason.
Inside, Kaminari's eyes nearly popped out of his sockets when he saw Mei with messy hair, a tight, sleeveless shirt with no bra underneath, which slightly emphasized her assets, and extremely short shorts, her beautiful legs, for once, without tights or shin guards.
She didn't seem to mind, and greeted the group with a smile that was half-polite, half-amused.
—Hey, you didn't answer a single message yesterday! We were worried, you know?— Mina complained to the kunoichi.
—Fufu, I'm sorry about that, but the police confiscated our phones all afternoon, and when we got back, we had a looong talk with Mom and Dad— she explained, while giving Tetsumaru a meaningful look.
Toru curiously watched the black-haired boy take sand out of his hands, and it formed a U-shaped sofa large enough for half the group to sit on.
—Woah, you make sofas too!— exclaimed Midoriya, who had been red-faced and engrossed in Mei's body.
—Is it practical? I don't want sand getting in my clothes— Kaminari questioned while feeling the Satetsu construction.
—It's solid, and as long as I'm here, the sand isn't a problem— Tetsumaru explained while pulling out a pile of pillows and cushions that, for some reason, they kept in a nearby room.
—Do you drink coffee? I'll go make some— Mei excused herself, a sway in her hips as she walked away kept Kaminari's and Midoriya's eyes glued to her backside, which earned them a smack on the head from Mina and Jiro.
Already seated on the surprisingly comfortable solidified sand sofa, the group demanded that Tetsumaru narrate yesterday's events.
—But why did Mei say the police confiscated your phones?— Midoriya asked curiously after Tetsumaru spoke.
—Hm, I was detained and taken to the police station for questioning. She also got involved because, well, she was involved in the fight.
—Tsk, all that drama was because Tetsumaru cut off the muscle-head's airways with the sand and left him half dead. Suddenly, we were the villains in the story— Mei commented with a grimace as she brought in a tray with steaming coffee cups.
—...
Everyone fell silent at those words, processing them in their minds. Mei handed Tetsumaru his coffee and placed the tray in the center, on an appropriate sand table that her brother had formed.
Complicated looks were directed at the shinobi, who casually drank from his cup. Not even the strange moan that escaped Midoriya when Mei sat down beside him, putting her arm over his shoulders, managed to shake them out of their stupor.
—That guy had overwhelming strength. He wasn't like the Nomu from USJ, but I don't doubt he would have reached that level if the battle had continued. If we had delayed the fight any longer, our neighbors would have been caught in the crossfire— the black-haired boy said calmly.
—Indeed. I think that muscle guy would be an opponent you'd face better, Izuku— Mei commented with a smile at the embarrassed Midoriya.
—So close!— thought the One For All user, completely lost from the conversation.
—You didn't kill him... Right?— Jiro questioned.
—No. I just sent him to the hospital with some internal damage. Besides, don't exaggerate. If my memory serves me right, Snipe-Sensei was blowing off the limbs of the guys at USJ with his weapons. Many bones wouldn't withstand reconstruction after that.
That made the group reflect, and they had to agree. People like Snipe, or Endeavor himself, had somewhat rough ways of subduing villains.
—I hope this incident doesn't result in a suspension. It would be unfair if you missed the training camp— Shōji commented.
—Aizawa-Sensei didn't mention anything like that, so it will be fine— Mei said.
The kids had a lively chat after that. The day went on as usual and Tetsumaru and Mei prepared a Western-style lunch for everyone.
At some point, Shōji approached the black-haired boy in the kitchen and engaged in some trivial small talk, as a preamble to Kaminari's strange request.
To his surprise, Tetsumaru agreed, but said he wouldn't do it here, nor on the outskirts of UA because he had been given endless warnings about using his Quirk without permission.
—Are you sure everything is fine, Jiro?— Toru interrogated her classmate again, who was sending furtive glances at the siblings while they cooked.
—Yes... I was just wondering, don't you think those two don't seem like siblings?— she returned the question to the invisible girl.
Toru tilted her head and thought about it carefully. After a few seconds, she said.
—Well, it's true they don't look alike at all. But they were adopted, right? Maybe they aren't blood related.
—Jeez, not that. I mean the way they behave with each other. Look at them, Toru. They look more like a recently married couple than siblings— Jiro sighed, the doubt visible in her eyes.
Everyone in class 1-A was aware of Tetsumaru and Mei's closeness. They were like the perfect siblings, as they always agreed on everything, despite almost never speaking to each other.
But today, when they were approaching their house, Jiro heard strange sounds coming from inside. She wasn't sure what it was, but she also didn't want to imagine the wrong things.
She convinced herself that it was a misunderstanding. After all, regardless of blood relation, siblings are still siblings, right?
