Julia's POV
Gavin discovered me collapsed on the hallway floor, my knees drawn tight against my chest, face buried in trembling hands. Uncontrollable sobs wracked my entire body, and though I heard his approaching footsteps, though every fiber of my being screamed to push him away, I remained frozen when he knelt beside me. His palms felt impossibly warm against my bare arms, steadying my shaking form, and the fact that I didn't immediately recoil from his touch hurt more than the tears streaming down my cheeks. I simply sat there weeping, allowing his hands on my skin, despising myself for lacking the strength to despise him completely.
