"So we did all that only to know that they were all just names?!" Aefia said while facing away from the others and her nails scraping the roots of her hair. What's wrong with my sense?! I swear it would work perfectly fine the other times. I remember that every time I felt like something was suspicious, it would turn out to be suspicious. So I may have falsely threatened the demon king!
"Is anything the matter? She isn't happy with the outcome." Helio's lizard asked. "If that red wolf really knows what's going on in her mind, ask it what she is thinking. She looks like she is about to tear out chunks of her hair and bleed her scalp." It spoke to Helio, which Aefia's red wolf had already heard.
"Don't worry, she is alright. Accept the fact that she is currently worried about something. That something, seems to be her fear, that she might have falsely scolded the demon king. I may know why her sense suddenly betrayed her, but how do I explain it to you all? It is a bit complicated to understand it because it is something only she has experienced." Her wolf replied.
"But if you can read her mind, can't she read yours?" Helio asked. "Or is the communication system only one way?"
"It's both ways, but as an animal, I can't interpret my thoughts the way humans do. But I can show my thoughts. And as humans, you can't understand what I am doing. And to do that, it will be even more complicating." Her wolf replied.
"So, maybe you can start from the beginning and explain every bits of it?" Helio's lizard asked. "When did she get you as her system? And how do we all have a system which gets activated the way she had told me to do." Helio asked.
"That's even more complicated. But I will try my best to explain it, see if I can interpret it like a human." Her wolf hesitated. Finally, Aefia turned around and spoke. "You don't need to explain it. I am pretty sure that if you take a closer look into the the weapon's wooden body, you will see even more smaller and invisible encrypted texts." She stood up and picked up the bow.
"Aefia, I know what you are thinking, but don't do that-..." Her wolf tried to stop her. Aefia pulled the string of the bow and suddenly, a wave of red magic spiraled around a narrow wooden pole with a sharp tip and three feathers appearing behind the string her fingers were pulling. She aimed at the smallest, most furthest chandelier in the ruined building and released the arrow.
The red arrow flew with a vibrant red glow, trailing it as far as it went. It strick the lit candle as melting wax fell to the ground and the fire went out. After it hit its target, the arrow dissappeared, reappearing in Aefia's hand. "Or maybe I don't know how to read your mind." Her wolf spoke with its ears sent all the way back.
"I definitely felt a small wave of magic, and it wasn't big enough to corrupt my mind. But within that small magic, I could sense a tiny streak of ritualistic magic, so it is obvious the fact that the weapons do have rituals written on it's body. If you check right below the larger letters, you will be able to see the written ritual engraved in it." Aefia explained. "But what truly fascinated me was that the arrow travels very fast in air. Does it go any faster in the future?" She asked her wolf with anticipated eyes.
"Ugh...I am afraid not. So what are you planning on doing to the smaller encrypted text?" Her wolf asked. "Are you going to carve it off?"
"Will that destroy the weapon's sturdiness?" Aefia asked back.
"Well if it is that small, I guess not." Her wolf said while inspecting the other weapons. "Hmm...I can see the rituals too. But I have no hands to actually carve it out, you two humans will have to do it. By the way, aren't you both curious about what the rituals might say? Because I am very questioned to know what is so dangerous about it."
"Fine. You can do so, but do it at your own risk." Aefia said while sitting on the ground and using her kitchen knife to cut off the engraved ritualistic text. "Oh and also, if you do that, I will not let you sleep. Because sleeping after chanting a ritual will often turn you into the victim of the ritual." She said while pointing her knife at her wolf to show it some fear.
"Just when are you going to stop being so rude with me?! I didn't mean it for real!" Her wolf replied with an upset voice. "Because, you have tried to do me enough harm and I won't accept it the next time." Aefia replied while continuing with her work.
"So what? The harms that I tried to pull on you, didn't even work! For everything that I have tried, it would always end up misfiring and bouncing back at me! Do you know how emotionally damaged I was?!" Her wolf said while whimpering.
"That red wolf really is such a burden. I can already understand why its owner hates it so much. At least I don't do those sort of things to my owner." Helio's lizard bragged. Helio, who was also busy looking for the ritualistic text on his new dagger, put his weapon down and dragged his lizard by the tail.
"You don't speak to me like that, but you have done me some injuries! So you are obviously no different from the wolf!" Helio spoke to the lizard, who hung for its life. "Ow...just leave me on the ground and continue with your own work. That girl and her wolf aren't fighting with each other using their hands or paws." His lizard protested.
He set it on the ground in front of him and continued scratching the encrypted text. While doing so, the lizard ran up to the now sleeping wolf and crawled onto its head before it too, fell asleep.
"So what exactly did you tell the demon king that made you so afraid of what you had done? You are not always as harsh as you seem, did you really threaten him like that?" Helio asked after a long moment of silence.
"If you are really going to say the word 'threatend' with the same meaning as the one from Earth, I will say yes, I did threaten him for if he was actually going to lay the trap that I feared he would do once I left the dining room." Aefia replied with slight hesitation in her voice.
"So what did your tell him? Isn't he going to be provoked by whatever you told?" Helio asked.
"I don't think that will be the case, because I had a small conversation with him while I was choosing the weapons. I don't think it would matter anymore because I threatened him before I had a better and more human conversation with him. My uncle taught me how to incite people's mind in case they try to accuse me to my own doings." Aefia replied while smiling.
"So you incited him into giving you the weapons and all?" Helio asked. "I don't think you get it. But I am pretty sure I don't need to explain the fact that I am actually a very fearful creature in this dimension. Although, even I don't know the reason behind it, I can act like I claim my unclaimed title and choose to rule over them. That way, I get to know their true intentions." Aefia explained.
"Your uncle must have been a psychological player than. He kind of reminds me of the one time when my father's far friend was talking to him about a colleague and his niece and he had described the both of them as instigators. He even told my father that they both were such a powerful mind player, that they could make the enemy fear them in an instant." Helio spoke.
"Your father's far friend told him?" Aefia asked with eagerness in her voice. "Did you hear him say which country they were both from? Or which country he visited?" Something was circling her mind but she couldn't trace out what it was.
Helio said the name of a country she very well knew. She belonged to that country and she knew who the 'father's far friend' was. "That is the country he had gone to? Can you describe what he looked like?" She asked again while putting away the finished bow and dusting her clothes.
"Why? Do you find him pretty close to anyone you had ever met?" Helio asked.
"Doesn't matter now. Will you be able to describe the appearance, or maybe which company he was from?"
"Well, he is the owner of a refugee organization, and his company is also said to be associated with a Mafia company. He had a British accent with blond hair a little lighter than mine. He had somewhere between blue or green eyes and wrinkled skin. He is extremely slim and always dresses formally. Is that enough description?"
"Yes...that is enough." Aefia nodded. "So...one of the instigator that your father's far friend had described...that's me. I am the niece of the boss of the Mafia company your father's far friend is associated with. I believe that the day you left Earth, that friend of your father's was at my country. Am I right?"
"Yes..." Helio answered with shock. "How many things have you done in the short amount of time you have lived you life?! Are you that determined at the thing you have done up until now?"
"Well, you can say that I was determined to become strong and stand up for my brother in case he ever suffered the things I had suffered in my childhood. I was determined to learn how to be armed with strength for those situations. And I believe that I am currently determined to return back to Earth as soon as I can. And that determination makes time seem very short and small to achieve it." Aefia explained while remembering the things she had to go through at her younger ages.
"The last time I had heard, you were the Underboss for your uncle's company?" Helio asked. "Yes, I was and still am. I was planning, that after I returned to Earth, I would continue as an Underboss until I finished university or whatever level of education I want to achieve." Aefia replied.
"Before you became an underboss you were an assassin grade spy. How were you allowed to accumulate the kill counts needed to become the Underboss?"
"I didn't. In fact, the number that I killed, it was erased from the record under my name at my uncle's office because he thought that if he had kept track of how many people I have killed, I might as well start killing in huge numbers."
"So like a mass murder? But you are killing in huge number right now. Just today you had killed up to at least a hundred. Doesn't it bother you?"
"It does bother me, but when I am determined to achieve something, I forget about my own six senses. I think that is one reason why the demon king kind of fears me. It doesn't take me time to take down the entire population with my temper. I believe it was also mentioned in a revealation, about my absolutely chaotic anger." Aefia said while laughing.
Helio laughed too. "Anyway, has the four unknown entities told you anything?" He asked after a short while.
"They did. In fact, they said that if you want, the mission that we have to complete, it will be brought front so we don't need to worry about it tomorrow. Sorry that I forgot to ask." Aefia replied. "If you all give the clearance, I will ask them to do it now. And if the mission is brought front, after the completion, we will be able to return to our current timeline back at Nikoan."
"Yeah sure! It is better to do it now than wait for tomorrow. But don't we need to complete these carvings first? And what about the last spear? Who are you going to give it to?"
This spear had a long, pointed metal head with glowing orange cracks that looked like fire or magic flowing through it, it was the same colour as the flames of the orange flamed chimera dragon. The center of the blade featured a square gold symbol, and the bottom of the metal tip was decorated with small blue gems and hanging gold tassels. The long handle was wrapped in brown leather to make it easy to hold, and it ended with a smaller metal point and another gold tassel at the very bottom.
"Anyone of us with adequate knowledge about the dragon can wield it. I think it is better to have her lady handle it. By the way, weren't they supposed to be here by now?" Aefia remembered. She turned back to see what they were doing.
Upon noticing both, Helio and Aefia staring at the three of them, they hurriedly started to come forward to their location. Aefia abruptly turned her head to Helio and pointed at the two animals resting on the ground with her eyes.
Helio, realizing the situation, scurried towards his lizard and Aefia to her wolf. "Wake up lazy bone! Turn back into a screen!" Aefia told her wolf while nagging its nose.
"But how do they turn back?!" Helio panicked but remembered to keep his voice low. "I don't know! Just wave at their face like before?!" Aefia panicked and continued poking the nose more rapidly like when she would tap her keyboard during a boss fight in her video games.
Finally, both the animals woke up. "Just leave us alone, we will transform back in any second possible." Aefia's wolf replied. She glanced at Helio and slowly walked back towards their weapons. Helio followed a few moments later.
"I have no time to explain. But I will need those weapons back." Aefia spoke with panic still lingering in her voice.
"I know." The demoness replied while handing the spear back. Aefia lifted it to notice that it had already had the rituals removed from it's body.
