I know that Erebus and Pandora, added along was the Guardian of Time and the Guardian of Destruction, they all knew about my short-lived alliance with the demon king. But they never quite opposed it back then, so I had always questioned myself again and again whether they really not know for a fact that their intersections to these demons were life and death situations.
A demon's easiest prey are the Guardians. Demons can take away powers and elements, and they crave the ones that have more of it. Guardians in particular are owners of their own elements. Such as wisdom, health, time, space, fire, water, air and so much more. Not to mention, no one in the entire world of Nikoan ever questioned the powers of a Guardian or the protector of their nations.
But although demons do only crave magical powers, they also crave political power. Up to date, it is noticable that the demon king only wants to conquer lands which were left abandoned. Although, I still had doubts as to why he never set foot on the land I had claimed.
However, I am pretty sure he actually wanted to rule over the lands where people lived. So that he could feed his little pests and then use them to conquer everything. That way, when people helplessly came begging to him for mercy, he could challenge the Guardians personally to take over the Aethalgard and save the humans.
I have been able to deduce more then half of the twisted lies I had been told, but I was still incapable of knowing just what is up with the demon king. What is it that he wanted? Is it truly power? Or was it something else much bigger like how he had said about a revenge back then. Although it had been a long time since... I still have our conversation tucked neatly at the corner of my brain.
Either ways... I couldn't let someone like Erebus enter the battlefield and at a time when I am using my powers against the demon king. I could deal with anything my way if I ever put my mind deep into it. And it would always have ended up successful unless someone chose to intervene, even if he were my own biological brother... Because to me, my plans are more important then the situation that the person is trying to bring abrupt hold to.
And... Should I add more? I was already almost done with the entire thing. I was simply adding the final touches now. After this, I had many ways I would have dealt with this matter. The matter between the demon king and the Guardians as a Guardian myself. I know I am putting my life on the line yet again. But this time... I have the upper hand in almost everything. If I can make him fear the other Guardian in my steed... With my position... Then it is an easy problem solved to me.
Ugh! Why was I even dragged that much away from the current situation?!
I wanted to finish the task nearest at my hand, but with Erebus in it, I was simply too dragged away to even focus!
I am not mad at him for entering this suddenly! I am just... Exhausted and draining faster with my bleeding forehead! Although it is just a scratch... The salt from my sweat was mingling with it... And it burnt!
Still! I didn't want any harm to Erebus!
Why was I even thinking about Erebus back then? Because I was supposed to let the demon suffer its demise.
Erebus had called me by 'Seraphina'... Not Aefia, the name I mentioned to the beast I was holding down.
At cases like this... There was a high possibility of a suspicion. Because I told him one name, and he heard another. Of course he would be thinking that I was just using someone else's name to make him fear my face. It was an obvious mistake that I couldn't quite calculate how I would solve. I was... Too worn out to think of it anymore.
I just stared at the approaching Erebus while left startled to the point that my fingers shook. The demon could sense my scare and he seemed to be proud of the Guardian of Wrath for exposing my true nature in front of him. I sensed his strength recollected and mine loosening. It was as if he might be pulling out my energy and trying to use it against me.
Then... Snap!
The chain and the strings broke... Because I lost my focus completely. My skills had deactivated to keep my mind from collapsing and Spectrum was shouting into my ears. The situation escalated too fast... I could feel almost pitiful for my own self...
The demon dissapeared from view and seemed to be missing in the short time that took me to even notice. Then his racoon-like stench happened to be somewhere around Erebus. Right... I had lost him completely and I was definitely the person to blame more than anything. The fat covered monster also happened to be steering.
This is why I hated an immediate battle that doesn't even give me time to think... They are just too... Much to think about and calculate through at a time where I was the only person who had to deal with the rest of them.
I had been stripped of any help and any weapons... Forcing me to use my sixth sense and turn my brain into a harbour for the most insane unrealistic tactics. I still can't tell how I was able to fight off paranormal beasts... Solely by the help of a few scapels and my hairclip. I think... It was just my brain overreacting to keep myself alive. Those scenes... Blood covered once... I still get them once I shut my eyes.
"My bloodstained life... I don't seem to be able to get myself a plain page with no blood stains in any day of my life..." I sighed to myself as I moved with my hazy brain toward where Erebus was standing. I didn't walk because I could see through the next row of attacks and how it was going to end up...
The demon... Was aiming for my weakness.. which was Erebus right now. He knew I couldn't resist it if someone I was trying to protect was going to fall at my feet today. So he was precise about that.
After he happened to regain his physical form right behind the young-looking Guardian... I felt the urge to run with my skills. But only one in specific that I wanted to use.
[Urgent Message: Using skill 'Dash' can lead to tiring as an immediate affect. Proceed?]
Proceed.
I whispered to myself as I recollected myself and reached my left hand towards Spectrum's handle and my right hand held onto the obisidian one of my blades. I felt the oxygen from my lungs completely transfer to my arm muscles. Erebus seemed to still not be aware, so I didn't give a mind to it much.
As the demon swung his axe above his head, I had already reached there and blocked the large blade with my black-bladed with its lava-like patterns flaring to life with a deep reddish hue on it. I could use it to ignite a fire and burn the axe down to the ground... But I don't want to. Let's be more realistic... Finish this once and for the time being.
My wrist groaned as I held onto the blade. "Is it really alright for me to use you one last time? No damage?" I asked Spectrum just in case... Into my mind.
[My Master's life is in danger... Spectrum will oversee this matter as emergency. Since I am getting quite the will to do whatever I want... I will forgive you.]
"Huh... You are really a strange sword..."
I gritted my teeth as I painfully reached Spectrum above my head to stab it into the demon, slaughter... Or do the most gruesome of them all.
"Erebus... Are you afraid of... Seeing organs splattered around the ground?" I asked while gazing his way. He seemed quite shocked with my appearance and sword, everything in full... Actually I don't know.
"Not at all. Do whatever you would like..."
Perfect... Then I proceeded to move Spectrum to the direction I wanted. And during that time, I realized that an excrutiating pain had risen at my side, but I continued with my task anyway...
I stabbed the sword into the demon's eye, and making sure that Spectrum's acid melted the skull as I felt it pierce out the otherside. I smiled to myself and then withdrew the sword completely as I watched the demon stumble backwards and fall. The axe falling along with him.
"Here is my revenge for you all... An eye for an eye... My left eye for your left eye..." I whispered to myself as a way of taking victory and glaring at the way blood covered the lush green lands of the garden.
"Ha!"
I took a step back in relief, but I immediately collapsed to the ground due to extreme exhaustion. But that is also when I saw it... A dagger... Covered in my blood. I withdrew it with my own hands too, I didn't care to do this sort of things out of recklessness. I was used to this.
The blade was poisoned as I had thought, but Spectrum's poison was much stronger. So I managed to fight it off unlike before. I was stabbed, drained, bleeding and unfocused... Maybe a little too much of a battle for all one day?
Oh hell naw!
I still have one more to go!
So I forced myself up.
"Seraphina! You are critically injured! You shouldn't fight your own body to stand up and ignore its orders!" Erebus panicked as he clenched his sword at his side. Either out of rage or as if to protect.
I only placed a hand on his wine red hair.
"If I were your real sister... I would have told you one thing... Your life comes first before the fun you crave. Battlefields aren't something to join in the middle of." I told him while smiling gently.
He was readily shocked at the way I was able to stand straight despite having suffered a literal knife to the gut.
"Don't worry... I have suffered this enough to say this is normal and I am not actually hurt much. After all... If my intestine was gone... Well... That would have been the most pain and the most scary, don't you think?"
"But still... I could have handled him myself too!"
"You still need to get your response checked. There was a significant delay that could have led to your limbs being chopped off." I replied, without quite noticing the way Erebus was still questioned by my fighting skills.
The fat demon suddenly trembled, meaning it was starting to wake up. But I was too tired and injured to move a proper muscle. However, there was on thing I wanted to try and I knew would give me good results if only I knew the proper way.
"Erebus... Since this garden is somewhat going to need to be cleansed... Is it alright if I... Light it on fire?" I asked with my usual, mischievous and kidish smile. I think Erebus was able to catch what I meant and somewhat jolted back to his senses.
"Wait... What?!"
"I mean... That demon is mostly made up of fat and particularly the ones which could be turned into wax later on. Since its only skill is to slow down the opponent by spitting fat onto the ground, you can say that I am really looking forward to burning it up." I explained while pointing at the direction of the beast. "I know it will be a massacre... But I can actually clean up the crime scene as easily as I created it."
Erebus looked as if he was deep in thought about that situation. So I let him to decide before I moved on. I was sure to do it either ways... Even if he said no.
"It seems to be fun to watch... Do it. I won't oppose it. You are have a free will in this realm since you have become the Guardian of Death. " He declared while shrugging.
I nodded in excitement. Then, I held out my index finger and thumb, bringing the index near my mouth and blowing on it. A small fire ball lit up at the tip of my finger, and I pointed it forward at the fat covered beast. You could say it was a mini flamethrower with huge potentials.
"Pew! Pew, pew, pew!"
Okay... I was childish... But that was exactly what I wanted to do. Come on! Life is too short to avoid doing stuff like these! Plus, I am not that old alright!
Erebus held onto his stomach as he laughed, watching as the four fireballs flew towards the beast with the flash of an eye.
"Seriously? Those small fireballs won't do anything..."
"I don't know."
As soon as I had said it, the entire beast's body went up in flames and melted. I side-eyed Erebus, as he watched completely astonished and caught off-guard. The field went from red to bright orange in the matter of second, and it was too hot to escape for the demon too.
As the fat dissolved onto the ground, the fire died down by itself. It was the feeding type of fire. It would feed and clean away fuel, leaving behind only charred land, nothing more.
"That was... Terrific!" Erebus shouted with joy in his eyes. "Are you that powerful already?!"
"Who knows?"
I looked back towards the place where lush greenery had been laid and now, just complete ruins were left behind. The bodies that I had stacked up a few minutes prior, they all started to rot instantly. Afterall... All organism had some sort of fat in them.
I frowned at the scene, and snapped my fingers. Immediately clearing the land back to the original state, even removing the bodies along with it. Now, I knew why I had this restoring skill with me.
Because a killer like me always needs to get rid of the evidence after the slaughtering.
