The air grew heavier and much larger, poisonous mist of fog spreading faster than before, wrapping the entire chamber in a choking fog. Alex could barely see through it, the once-green walls now glowing with a sickly purple hue. The serpent that had once been Veregon was gone. What stood, or rather slithered, before him now was something far worse.
A Venom-Tyrant, a fusion of serpent and insect, wings humming like a thousand hornets as it lifted its massive body off the ground. Its scales shimmered between black and violet, oozing acid from the cracks between them.
The system's voice echoed sharply in Alex's head:
[Boss Veregon (Venom-Tyrant Form): Level 35]
[Warning: You are under-leveled for this encounter.]
He spat to the side, and grabbed his dagger tighter. "Yeah, as if I thought I'd really be able to beat this thing"
The monster moved first. Its wings sliced through the fog, releasing a sonic wave that shattered the stone columns around them. Alex dashed aside, barely dodging the blast, the shockwave throwing him into a wall. He coughed, his ribs burning from the impact.
So fast. Okay!! Too fast.
Before he could catch his breath, the Venom-Tyrant's tail struck from the side. Alex rolled forward, sliding across the ground and grabbing a fallen shard of crystal as he rose. The serpent swooped down, jaws wide, fangs dripping with a mix of acid and venom.
Alex jumped, planting one foot against the beast's snout and using it as a springboard to launch himself higher. He slashed downward, cutting through the membrane of its left wing.
[Critical Hit: -12% HP]
The creature screamed, its flight faltering for a second. But that second was all Alex needed. He hit the ground running, dashing for cover behind a half-collapsed pillar.
His breathing was ragged. His stamina bar blinked red.
And yet, a smile crept across his lips.
"I'm starting to get the hang of this…Fuck, I should've stayed at the hospital, but it's all good I can level up more...." He kind of smirked I think, wow this boy just can't give up.
The Venom-Tyrant roared again, firing multiple venom projectiles from its mouth. The green orbs exploded on contact, melting everything they touched. Alex dove and rolled through the attacks, each dodge just barely in time.
When one projectile splashed near him, a few drops hit his arm, and once again, his passive skill activated again.
[Toxin Negated]
[Venom Conversion Activated]
[Buff Duration Extended]
A rush of energy surged through his veins. His movements sharpened, faster, more precise. His vision narrowed, everything slowed down around him.
He sprinted straight toward the monster.
It lunged down, and Alex ran up the slope of its tail, dagger blazing with system-light. He reached the base of its neck and drove the blade deep, not once, nor twice, but over and over until the venom started to came out like oil getting seperated off from the ground soil.
The beast thrashed wildly. Alex held on, gritting his teeth. "I'm not letting you go till you die, you oversized fucking peanut ball!"
[Boss HP: 18%]
The serpent reared back, wings snapping. The force threw Alex into the air. He twisted mid-flight and landed hard on his feet, sliding backward across the floor. His dagger spun across the ground, out of reach.
The monster rose again, standing over him as if it was gonna blow up everything. Its fangs shifted, glowing with that green-poisonous energy. Wow! Nice now, a FuCkIng beam, AS IF THAT TORTURING ME WITH A MOSQUITO WASN'T ENOUGH!!!
[Skill Detected: Ultimate— Toxin Perex]
Alex's eyes widened as the monster opened its mouth and launched a massive beam of poison-light.
Never have I seen that attacked in my writing before, neither I will write it again.
The attack tore through everything, walls, air, ground, vaporizing everything it touched. Looks like the system has to do a clutch.
He had no time to think. He ran forward.
Straight into the beam of what looked liked the monsters own vomit, ewwwww..
For a moment, everything went white then dark.
Then—nothing.
As if Alex wasn't gonna die.
Cause he won't you see. Hehe sorry for spoilers. My bad.
The next second, Alex's head heard that same noise once back and forth. Yup, the system and his passive skill activated, spreading all over Alex's body.
[Passive Skill Activated: Toxin Resistant]
[Incoming Poison Converted to Energy]
[Overdrive To All Stats: 200% Increase For 15 Seconds]
The beam went around him like water that had been parted by the ways, that still leaded to the same destination, the sea.
His body had been erased off the poisons of that serpent, steam of heat rising off his chest and his clothes torned. The serpent paused, confused and feeling something it had never felt once, Fear.
Yeah, that's it my boy Alex!! Your author is proud of ya.
Alex looked up, his eyes determined with killing that monster, he smirked and said. "Your poison give me strength you see, it's better not to mess."
He sprinted straight aiming for monster's head.
Ahh!! Yessss!!! We bout to see his moment reader!!!
The dagger had shined brighter than any, pure energy coming from within it. With a single leap upward as Alex strucked, stabbing through the serpent's eye, the only one remaining, Then, with a clutched effort, he slashed downward through its whole skeletal, cutting through bone and venom sacs as if it was just a jelly with fresh honey that still had bees inside of it.
The beast shrieked it's noisy voice, convulsing and not reataining its body, and collapsing on itself. The wings melted and only bones remain, the acid across and poolong beneath it. The light in its eyes went off. Like when we switch off the lights of our houses
[Boss Veregon (Venom-Tyrant Form) Defeated.]
[Quest Complete: 4/4 Bosses Eliminated.]
[EXP Gained: 13,500.]
[Level Up: 29.]
[New Skill Unlocked: Toxin Resistant (Advanced).]
Alex fall onto his knees, hand to his chest, panting and breathing hard as if he was on the verge of death.
He was you know that.
Shut up!
The green mists of fogs began to clear away, showing most of the cracked floor beneath his feet. Alex was still in awe that he had figured a literal boss, and not just 1 but 4!! And he defeated all of'em.
He heard the system's clicking sound in his head. And it showed up a new notification.
[Portal to Exit Unlocked]
He looked up, and he saw that bright light of swirling energy across the dungeon.
The blue energy of the gate forming right where the he had finished. The same portal, the portal that would be his way home.
He stared at it for a long moment, eyes softening.
The dungeon had gone quiet. Only the sound of the poison drip reached his ears faintly in the distance.
Hmmm...Wow!! I've made a masterpiece of Alex, agree or not.
Alex stood straight quite, wiping the dust off his torn jacket. As he approached the portal, he remembered something that he never wanted to, a memory of what he thought he had let go of a long time ago, he didn't knew he'd have this memory once again.
Well sadly he remembered.
His father's voice.
The way he smirked and grinned about how he was gonna kill the monsters and will come back the day he left.
"I'll come back once I'm done killing all those bad monsters, alright? Stay strong, okay? Take care of mommy and you little sister for me!"
The news went on for months of a certain Yeilder never coming back, Alex's Dad.
Sad, isn't it author!
Yeah buddy, yeah.
Alex breathed heavenly and under his breath he proceeded to say, "Guess, you were right, old man. I did get strong, but you ain't here to see"
He clenced harder onto the dagger, as if he knew that he don't want to end up like his father.
He stepped through the portal, and then pooff!! He was gone from the dungeon.
When the light went off, he found himself once again inside the abandoned train station, where he opened the portal. The night's cool breeze went along his face, fast and atleast better than what he had inhaled in there, pheww....
The sound of the system's flicks of the system went into silence and much better stats as he expected himself to get after all that levelling up.
The key he used to open the portal shake up a little in his hand, and then shattered into millions of particles of dust.
[Portal Closing in process]
[Portal Closed Successfully]
Alex looked up at the dark sky through the broken roof of the station and exhaled.
"Heh! Never thought I'd be happy to even see the old station here."
