Chapter 6 - 2nd path, Eternal Darkness

Pov: "Death Pathway"

Daisy walked every afternoon among the gravestones of the old cemetery, where the wind seemed to whisper stories that no one else wanted to hear.

Since she was a child, she had felt a strange curiosity toward the stillness of that place.

It wasn't morbid curiosity, nor fear; it was a kind of calling, as if something there had known her all her life.

While others sought noise, laughter, and movement, she sought the opposite. Not because she despised life, but because she was hurt by its constant falsehood.

For her, loneliness was not an empty room, no, it was something diferente, it was being surrounded by people who never looked beyond the surface, who preferred comfortable lies over the truth, or who simply never recognized that anyone else existed apart from themselves.

One day, as she walked along the worn paths of an abandoned trail, she saw a figure seated beneath a cypress tree. It had no distinct face, no precise form, yet it was undeniably present.

She didn't know how she understood it, or where its voice came from, but she could comprehend it perfectly.

Its voice was not sad, nor frightening, nor threatening. It was calm, gentle, harmonious, like seeing an old friend you had been waiting for all your life.

"You have walked these grounds many times, especially the cemetery,"

The entity said, its voice more suited to reciting poetry than speaking.

"I usually go there to think,"

Daisy replied, surprisingly calm considering what stood before her.

"There, no one shouts to be heard, nor dresses to be noticed, nor tells stories to seem special. Everything feels… peaceful, real, quiet."

The entity nodded.

"The living fear forgetting that they feel, that they laugh, that they rejoice, that they are unique.

Those who are no longer here do not need to worry about that."

Daisy sat beside it with a look of understanding. She did not feel fear, only relief, as if she had finally found a language she had always spoken alone.

"…I feel like I am alone,"

She confessed after some time sitting beside the being in silence.

"You are not alone,"

Said the presence, as it gently touched her head. Its touch was cold, but it radiated peace.

"I am with you, though not for long, for I must leave. Still, I hope you can enjoy my company while I am here."

Daisy thought for a moment, wanting to disagree. To her, solitude was not something bad, but a window into oneself; not absence, but space.

"Why does everyone fear death?"

She asked instead, changing the subject at the last moment.

"Because they believe it comes to take something away,"

The entity answered unhurried

"But Death only accompanies, closing one circle so that another may begin."

Daisy looked up, surprised yet happy, so happy she couldn't help but say:

"I wish I could go with you, to become like you,"

She whispered, gazing at the entity with longing

"Not to escape life… but to understand it better. To understand why everyone hates Death."

The entity smiled, though it had no mouth.

"I cannot let you follow me yet. But I can walk with you while you remain here, though you will not see me.

If you learn to live without fear of Death, then you will have understood what few ever do, and you may one day stay in my place."

And with that, the entity vanished just as mysteriously as it had appeared. Daisy was not surprised, though she felt a touch of sadness, until she remembered its final words.

From that day on, Daisy lived differently. She did not abandon the world of the living.

She simply observed it with more gentleness, she Listened, she Felt, she accepted sadness as part of the grand painting of life.

Years passed, and she grew into adulthood.

During this time she learned that she did not have to await Death with desperation, but with serenity, like one waiting for an old friend with whom to share a long journey.

She also learned to love Death without seeking it. For in accepting it, she found companionship, love, and above all, understanding.

Things she wished others could feel, so they too could see the truth who was simple, ignored, yet necessary.

And as if fulfilling a promise, the entity returned to her once more, this time with a scythe in hand.

"You have done what I asked. Now I will do what I must. But I will ask you once more: Do you wish to come with me?"

"Yes, I do,"

Daisy replied, taking the hand that Death extended to her moments later.

"Then I will show you a path, one through which you may walk beside me once you reach the end.

One where you may soothe the souls of others. One in which, if you reach the end, you may become the "Death." "

Pov: protagonist

"Ahahahahahaha, yes, this time it really is better. Not only did I finally make the story behind "Death" avatar, but I also figured out "Darkness" avatar as well."

★ "If you say so. Still, I hope you make sure those two really do merge to complete "Eternal Darkness" . Otherwise, I'll have to file a report, and I'd rather not do that."

When I heard that, I couldn't help but smirk. Thanks to my talent (or absolute paranoia), I can already predict what the system will say to some extent.

This only makes me even happier, because I'll be able to use that advantage to shape the system to my favor, controlling him to my favor

ensuring not only that it won't betray me, but that I'll be able to influence its way of thinking entirely.

"Relax, I know what I'm doing. The Twilight Giant will handle the fusion between the two later on.

As for me, I need to make sure that Death has no choice but to take my mother according to my new plan.

I can feel that if I don't do it soon, something will happen, something absolutely bad.

And believe me when I say I plan to follow my instincts."

I said it with a voice that left no room for doubt. The arrogant expression I had before had completely disappeared.

★ "If you say so. I just hope all your plans don't end up failing. It would be annoying to have to start everything from scratch."

The system said, clearly dissatisfied. I couldn't help but mock him:

"What's wrong? Don't they pay you for overtime?"

★ "They do, but the time I los— …Wait. Was that sarcasm?"

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA, and you fell for it! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

I laughed so hard that even my real body reacted. Good thing no one saw me, otherwise they'd think I've gone insane.

(Death: Poor little boy, he's already fallen into madness. I'll have to heal him once he finally comes to me.)

"Anyway, send the avatar of "Death" and "Darkness" to a world recently massacred by Thanos, they will flourish there"

★ "Alright, If you said so, I just hope those to didn't die"

*Weeks later*

Pov: "Mother Pathway"

"...Thank you... truly, thank you, great priestess."

Those were the words another mother told me through tears after I was able to cure her child of his illness.

"It's no problem. Don't forget, it is all thanks to the Great Mother."

I said it with genuine warmth. What else could I say? It is beautiful to see a mother cross two entire cities in this continent that has suffered so much, all just to heal her child.

"...Thank you, really."

Those were her last words before I left. I couldn't afford to stop my mission just for her, since I am still far from my final goal, much too far to simply relax.

You know, when The Great Creator brought me into this world, I was disoriented. I didn't know where to begin my journey to follow the "Mother Pathway".

Though I knew I simply had to understand what each "Sequence" meant, that proved to be much harder than I imagined, for a while, at least.

That was until I made contact with the natives of the land I found myself in.

Hungry, filthy, dying, hopeless—those were the words that came to my mind the moment I saw them.

A entire race with a skin tone I had never seen before. For a moment, I thought they were monsters, if not for their familiar shapes.

I even believed at first that I had no obligation to heal them, simply because their appearance was so alien to me.

But after listening to their stories, and remembering the promise of that great being, I decided to act.

At first, I could only make a few plants and fruits grow to feed them, since I was still "Sequence 9" .

But apparently, that alone was more than enough for them. The moment they saw me make plants grow, they began to worship me.

It surprised me, because they understood what I was doing and because I knew myself that what I did was nowhere near enough to be called a "Goddess." But they didn't care. So, having no other option, I decided to create the Goddess I would one day become, and proclaimed myself her priestess.

They believed it instantly, and soon the Cult of the Goddess Mother was born.

Time passed, and I continued training and learning the "Sequence" I was in until 10 months later, when I finally advanced to "Sequence 8".

This allowed me to help this species, who called themselves Africans, a name given to them by other nations, even more

Once word spread that Mother had blessed me again and that I could now heal them, more and more of these so-called aliens came to me seeking salvation.

In a way, I enjoyed it, being needed, respected, protected… loved. It was beautiful.

This led me to finally take their training seriously. Not only did I create a proper mythos around their faith, I even organized their growing religion.

They seemed to like that, because they began spreading my teachings like wildfire. So much so, that just a year and a half after my arrival, I was already known across the land.

It's now been two years on this continent, and although I have yet to encounter more like them, I've learned that there are also humans in this world. And from what I understand, my followers are close to unifying the continent under my faith.

One could say everything is going well for them. As for me, I am truly happy. Even though I haven't yet reached "Sequence 0" the promise that great being made to me has already been fulfilled.

Still, I will not stop my path. They told me their people have suffered greatly under the humans, and I promised myself that once I become strong enough, I will save them all.

Because they were the ones who first showed me what it meant to be loved, I decided I will protect them, just as a true mother protects her children.
