That night was unbelievably intense. The two tested each other endlessly. With Diana's warrior physique, dealing with Thea—a bow-user-turned-mage—shouldn't have been difficult. But ever since undergoing the yellow ring's baptism, Thea's mental strength had grown tremendously. She gritted her teeth and held on stubbornly. Only when even Diana reached her limit—both of them trembling to the soul—did they ascend together to a new height.
"Wake up… come on, get up…"
Diana shook Thea, who was sleeping soundly like a little piglet.
It took a full ten minutes before Thea, mentally drained, finally regained her senses and slowly sat up. Both her stamina and spirit had been completely emptied. She had basically burned through an entire bar of HP and MP just to take down the big-boss-level Diana, who had an absurdly long health bar. The difference in base stats was just too huge.
When she got back, she definitely needed to pressure Damian—had he stolen that sword yet or not?!
Thea pulled on a few pieces of clothing at random, then flipped herself onto the hotel rooftop to sunbathe and replenish her energy.
Half an hour later, to her surprise, she realized her mental power had increased slightly. This was astonishing. Not a single spellbook had ever mentioned it—but doing that kind of indescribable act actually strengthened mental power!
Excellent. Fantastic.
For the safety of humanity and the peace of the universe, this kind of activity should be done often—regularly—even elevated to the level of social responsibility and carried out long-term, with both quality and quantity guaranteed.
Once Thea recovered, she ordered room service. The two ate a fierce, hearty breakfast.
"In a bit, we're heading to Oa. Just treat it as our honeymoon!"
Thea declared their upcoming schedule domineeringly. Ordinary people would collapse from hearing something this outrageous. Fortunately, Diana was far from ordinary. She nodded.
"I've never been to another planet. Perfect chance to see it. Is the universe really that big? Earth is just one planet in Sector 2814…"
Thea thumped her chest. "Don't worry. There aren't many in the entire universe who can beat you."
Diana didn't realize this was Thea's genuine opinion. She thought she was just being flattered. Her proud brows rose slightly, and the corners of her lips curved into a small, blissful smile.
When they were about to leave, they noticed an awkward problem—there was far too much moisture in the room. The carpet, the walls, the floor… everywhere bore freshly formed water stains. Neither of them had mortal bodies, which meant the leftover "traces" were far from ordinary. Left unattended, some of that lingering essence might persist for a long time.
Diana, embarrassed, instinctively drew the God-Killer sword, planning to scorch the entire scene clean.
Thea quickly stopped her. If old Hephaestus found out she'd used his divine forging masterpiece for this, he'd probably burst out of Olympus to kill her. Superpowered beings like Diana—or a max-level warrior decked out in divine gear—had no technique for handling such a situation.
But Thea's arsenal was far more diverse, and now it showed its value. "Water Extraction!"
She cast it three times in a row. The room instantly dried like a furnace. A sphere of slightly murky liquid gathered in Thea's palm.
Now the real problem was what to do with this water. Diana avoided her gaze, and Thea hesitated as well. Both of their bodies contained divinity and divine power. That meant this water was packed with potent energy.
If someone with malicious intentions got hold of it and used it to create some enhanced super-soldier… that would be horrifying. Imagine a super-soldier infused with their essence battling a clone made from Superman's hair and blood. Just imagining the scene made their skin crawl.
For the safety of mankind—fine! Bottle it!
Thea took out a small vial and poured all the liquid inside. "You…!"
Diana nearly bit her own tongue. This wasn't something you just… kept! Shouldn't it simply be flushed down the drain?
Thea argued with perfect seriousness. "We can't be selfish. With great power comes great responsibility. We have a duty—an obligation—to contribute to Earth's safety."
After a long chain of solemn nonsense, she finally soothed Diana's worries. They agreed that in future sparring sessions, all moisture must be collected immediately. No giving villains any opportunities.
The two tidied up the "crime scene," checked out of the hotel, found a secluded spot, then flew out of the atmosphere. Thea opened a wormhole, and the two left the Milky Way behind.
Of course, they wouldn't go to Oa directly. Bringing Abin Sur's corpse—cut into over a hundred pieces—was far too dangerous. Diana could take a Green Lantern one-on-one, but they had numbers. Hundreds charging at once? Only a handful in the universe could withstand that.
They chose a planet with signs of intelligent life and landed there. Thea needed to restore Abin Sur's body—at least enough to resemble a normal corpse.
Diana, having nothing to do, wandered off with the Lasso of Truth to study the local life forms.
After two full hours, Thea wiped her forehead. Abin Sur looked much more whole now. To reflect that he had died at Parallax's hands, she even created a large wound on the restored body, using yellow fear energy—something she had in endless supply—to forge an eerily realistic injury.
After putting the corpse back into her storage ring, she went to find Diana.
She found the Amazon princess in high spirits, holding a creature that looked like a rabbit-dog hybrid and interrogating it. Athena's blessing of wisdom was no joke. Even with a complete language mismatch, after a short while, Diana managed to speak a few basic words of the alien tongue.
It was clear Diana was genuinely happy. Without the burden of protecting Earth weighing on her, she finally seemed relaxed. Outside the Milky Way, with her duties momentarily gone, her entire demeanor felt lighter, freer.
Their original plan to rush to Oa was quietly tossed aside. Thea had already contacted Sinestro; hearing that his friend's body was coming home, he warmly invited them to visit Oa at their leisure. Earth was peaceful, Star City was stable—nothing urgent.
So Thea decided not to use wormholes. They would travel slowly, taking ships across the stars.
Diana claimed she didn't want to—but her actions showed otherwise, following Thea eagerly onto the first vessel. Thea's ring translated every language. Diana's combat power let her steamroll even technologically advanced civilizations.
The two traveled leisurely toward Oa, hopping from ship to ship. Some races were friendly and hospitable. Others were bullies and pirates. This gave Diana plenty of chances to show her prowess.
She had been uncertain at first when they left Earth, but by the second month of travel, her confidence was soaring— There wasn't a single being in the universe who could beat her!
…until they came across one particularly sinister planet. There, a group of half-meter-tall creatures taught her a harsh lesson.
A colossal super-cannon disguised as a mountain silently completed its charge—and had Thea not used a wormhole instantly, the consequences would've been catastrophic.
After that scare, the two became more cautious. Finally—three months after leaving Earth—they arrived at Oa.
