"Wake up! You need to see this!"
Theron's urgent voice pulled me from sleep. I'd only been resting for a few hours but apparently that was all I was getting.
"What? What's wrong?"
"Daemon's supporters. They're not accepting the result. They're saying the fight was invalid because Arianna interfered. That you cheated and should be disqualified."
I sat up too quickly and immediately regretted it. Everything hurt. "Arianna manifesting her own curse isn't cheating. The arbiter ruled in my favor."
"The arbiter was neutral. But now Daemon's people are claiming he was biased. That the whole thing was rigged from the start." Theron looked worried. "They're refusing to withdraw their support. Refusing to acknowledge your victory. Some are even talking about continuing to fight."
"So winning the single combat changed nothing. We're still facing the same enemies with the same problems."
