"America... Germany... France... Japan... China..."
"The first batch of unmanned Jaegers has been absorbed by local militaries of several major powers. The rest won't be far behind."
Leiman sat in a dim room, watching a massive screen ahead displaying the locations of each unmanned Jaeger.
He constantly monitored the transport movements of these unmanned Jaegers.
"Once all subsequent Jaegers are produced and transported, I can launch a full-scale offensive." Leiman spoke with a smile, confident in completing this mission.
Right now, he was absolutely the strongest force on Earth.
No matter where the other two Travelers were, they couldn't possibly threaten him anymore.
He had multiple nations backing him. Until he turned on them, he was absolutely safe.
Moreover, his whereabouts were kept completely confidential. As long as time naturally progressed, he could overturn the entire world!
Maryland. Goddard Space Flight Center.
"That's right, a completely unknown alien lifeform."
"With just our instruments, we can't analyze its physical structure at all."
"Target currently stationary in Earth's satellite orbit. Orbital altitude 1,850 kilometers, orbital inclination 25 degrees, true anomaly 270 degrees... No obvious movements so far."
Wilson spoke urgently in communication with NASA headquarters.
"Many astronomical institutions across the Western Hemisphere have already detected its presence. Please notify Congress immediately—this is absolutely a major discovery that could affect international standing!"
Though the Precursors were the first alien civilization known to humanity, they'd remained hidden behind the Breach. Humans didn't know what they looked like.
But today, this giant appearing in satellite orbit would become humanity's first opportunity for direct contact with an alien civilization.
However, with the Precursors as invading predecessors, humanity held a rather unfriendly stereotype toward unfamiliar aliens.
What stance this giant held, what purpose brought it to Earth—these were questions they had to consider.
Astronomical institutions across the Western Hemisphere moved quickly, reporting the giant's existence to their nations' leadership.
"Just caught our breath from the Precursor threat, and now another alien shows up..." Taylor, the United States representative to the UN, hung up the phone, expression grave.
"Able to survive independently in space without spacecraft... we can't even detect when it appeared in Earth's orbit... It must come from a civilization far surpassing humanity."
"Perhaps... even more advanced than the Precursors."
"If it harbors malice toward humanity like the Precursors... No, we must convene a UN meeting!"
He envisioned the scenario if the giant held hostile intent toward humanity, immediately telling his secretary.
This was no longer something one nation could decide. All nations had to respond together to possibly avoid the worst outcome.
Not just Taylor—his nation's president and other countries' leadership, upon learning this news, also exploded into action.
Over these ten-plus years, they'd witnessed the terror of alien invaders. With the situation just starting to improve, they couldn't withstand another invasion.
Collisions between civilizations weren't child's play. One small error or accident could result in a civilization's extinction.
Fortunately the giant hadn't made any moves yet, giving them a moment to breathe.
After issuing a series of notifications, Taylor immediately donned his coat and left the office with his secretary, boarding a chartered flight to the meeting.
Unable to extract useful intelligence from the giant, leadership of various nations grew extremely tense.
They contacted each other remotely, deliberating, trying to devise a plan for negotiating with it.
Simultaneously, representatives from each nation boarded flights, heading to New York at maximum speed.
En route, Taylor received another call.
From NASA headquarters.
"Has the giant made any moves...?" He frowned, answering.
A panicked voice came from the other end.
"Mr. Taylor, a comet over one hundred kilometers in diameter is approaching Earth's orbit. Based on trajectory predictions, it will make contact with Earth in ten hours!"
"What!?" Taylor's eyes widened instantly. "How is that possible!?"
"Are you all incompetent!?"
Though budget cuts to astronomical institutions over these years due to the Kaiju disaster had been severe, basic astronomical observation never stopped. A comet this large should have been detected weeks or even months ago.
How could it only be discovered when it was about to strike Earth!?
This made no scientific sense!
"I... apologize, Mr. Taylor."
"Ten minutes ago our instruments detected nothing. It appeared suddenly. We're still searching for the reason behind this." The NASA director hurriedly explained.
They felt wronged too. This comet appeared in complete violation of scientific principles, utterly beyond human understanding. They had no idea where it came from!
At this moment, all astronomical institutions were terrified by this comet. They understood better than anyone the consequences of this comet colliding with Earth.
Taylor instantly felt suffocated.
A comet over a hundred kilometers in diameter—once it struck Earth, the entire planet's ecosystem would suffer devastating impact.
Even though humanity was Earth's absolute hegemon, standing above countless species, facing this level of natural disaster, they were no different from any other animal!
Suddenly, another thought struck him.
After the giant appeared, this comet followed immediately. Was there some connection?
"Have we angered God...?" Taylor's hand trembled slightly as he gripped the phone.
If this comet truly was summoned by that giant—being able to do this, what difference was there from God?
The Precursors had to create a Breach wormhole to destroy human civilization, then craft Kaiju for war and send them to Earth one by one.
Facing the Precursors and Kaiju, they already thought they were facing the apocalypse.
But now—
All leadership learning this news realized: now... this was the true apocalypse.
