Texas, Army military base.
Inside a spacious armory, five white tech-styled unmanned Jaegers were secured by multiple restraints, locked in like prisoners.
"The perfect fusion of organic tissue and machinery—truly genius design." An engineer inspecting the five Jaegers couldn't help but marvel.
They'd received notice early that these unmanned Jaegers risked going rogue, so they'd prepared control measures in advance.
Why not just destroy them directly?
That would require asking why they'd purchased these unmanned Jaegers in the first place.
If these things didn't malfunction, they'd be perfect weapons.
"The internal systems aren't even activated. How could there be any risk of malfunction?" Another engineer held a tablet, checking the Jaeger systems while speaking.
"Even if they do malfunction, we can shut them down immediately."
In their view, the higher-ups were overthinking things.
They were just waiting for when they could dismantle these Jaegers and properly study their internal structure.
But suddenly.
An invisible energy wave spread to the vicinity of this base.
"Crack crack crack!"
The five secured unmanned Jaegers instantly reacted!
"What!?" The engineer stared at the five suddenly activated unmanned Jaegers, disbelief written across his face. "How did they start up!?"
Seeing the Jaegers attempt to break free, the entire armory instantly became chaotic. Alarms blared.
"Benson, what's the situation with the unmanned Jaegers?" A communication connected to another engineer's tablet.
The caller was the base commander, Winston Walker. His voice boomed through the tablet.
"Sir, we haven't provided them any power source—they started moving on their own!" A bead of cold sweat dripped down Benson's forehead as he answered.
The unmanned Jaegers were now struggling even harder. The entire armory shook.
"Don't you have control of their systems!?"
"Use whatever means necessary—make them stop!" the commander shouted through the comm.
More sweat appeared on Benson's face.
"We started hacking their systems immediately... but we haven't succeeded yet."
The other engineer who'd confidently claimed they could paralyze the unmanned Jaegers' systems was now frantically busy, leading other engineers in attacking the systems—but it wasn't having any effect.
"Crack!"
"Roar... ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
Suddenly, gaps appeared in the outer armor of the five struggling unmanned Jaegers. Kaiju carapace extended through the openings. The previously sealed helmets showed vicious cracks, now looking identical to Kaiju heads.
They'd completely gone rogue!
"Everyone evacuate the armory!"
Commander Walker's voice rang through the broadcast, ordering everyone inside to evacuate.
Though reluctant, they had to make the decision to destroy them now.
"Armed forces deploy—prepare for destruction operation!" He immediately ordered from the base command center.
"Copy that!" Multiple voices responded through the comm.
During this time, not just this military base—several other countries' bases that had acquired unmanned Jaegers experienced the same chaos.
"Retreat, retreat!"
"Everyone evacuate immediately!"
Inside the armory, engineer Benson hurriedly called for all technicians to fall back. Those Kaiju-transformed unmanned Jaegers were about to break free—this was no joke.
Simultaneously, large numbers of armed soldiers poured into the armory. Facing those massive Kaiju Jaegers, they raised their weapons.
"Rat-tat-tat—"
Personnel hadn't fully evacuated yet. They could only use these weapons for now.
"ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
But clearly, such weapons couldn't inflict significant damage on the Kaiju Jaegers. After breaking free from their restraints, they roared, intimidating the soldiers.
They stepped forward, crushing surrounding mechanical equipment into scrap metal.
They seemed to have received some kind of order. Rather than engaging the military immediately, they circled together. Their chest energy cores lit up as they rushed to execute their command.
"Whoosh!"
The cores in the five Jaegers' chests released beam-like energy that converged and gathered, causing energy fluctuations.
"Sir, those Jaegers... they're likely opening a wormhole!" Benson had already run outside the armory, surrounded by tanks and armored vehicles at the ready. He shouted into the comm.
"A wormhole just like the Breach at the bottom of the Pacific!"
On the other end of the comm.
Commander Walker in the command center gazed remotely at the armory exterior, his brow instantly furrowing.
They could handle these five Kaiju-transformed Jaegers. But if they summoned Kaiju, the entire base could fall.
Large-scale thermal weapons could certainly kill Kaiju—at the cost of everyone on the base going up with them.
"Shit..." Commander Walker cursed, his mind racing for countermeasures.
These Kaiju Jaegers weren't even engaging them—they'd started opening a wormhole immediately. This was even trickier.
The armory originally meant to contain them had instead become their sanctuary.
After all personnel evacuated the armory, soldiers brought more powerful weapons to attack the five Kaiju Jaegers.
"BOOM!"
"ROAR!"
One Kaiju Jaeger took an RPG hit and roared in pain. It immediately stopped channeling energy into the wormhole, turned around, and grabbed the steel frame previously used to restrain it as a shield.
The wormhole was nearly formed. It chose to stall for time alone, using surrounding steel to build a shield against the military's firepower.
However, the military's firepower wasn't to be underestimated. Though weapons hadn't developed much in this era of Jaegers and Kaiju, they still easily tore through its defense.
"ROAR!"
The Kaiju Jaeger soon fell under the military's suppressing fire.
But because they'd started preparing the wormhole the moment they went rogue, even without stalling much time, it was enough.
An arc-crackling Breach had already opened inside the armory.
"ROAR!!!"
Accompanied by a violent roar, the giant beast that brought doomsday to this world once again emerged!
"Oh... No..."
The soldiers watching the Kaiju slowly materialize from the wormhole instantly recalled their helplessness when facing Kaiju before.
