Passing through the Breach, a vast blue space immediately came into view. Countless Kaiju poised to strike surged forward.
"Whoosh!"
Without need for explanation, a Spacium Beam erupted from between the giant's palms, sweeping across the entire space and leaving blue-white traces.
"ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
Kaiju after Kaiju were manufactured from the Kaiju factories, continuing to join the battle.
"As expected... we simply cannot match it in raw power." In a hidden corner of the space, an archbishop-level Precursor watched the red-and-silver giant effortlessly dissolve their offensive, his eyes full of gravity.
He'd received news of the previous colony space's fall but hadn't yet witnessed the giant's combat firsthand.
"This space will fall soon... it's time to evacuate." The archbishop slowly vanished under the escort of lower Precursors, preparing to transfer to the next colony space.
But at that moment, the giant in battle glanced their way. His bright eyes seemed to have already captured traces of their movement.
"These creatures... just how many planets have they invaded?"
Natsuki could tell this space was still inside some dead planet. The civilization on this world had long been buried in dust with the Precursors' arrival. The Precursors' structures couldn't conceal traces of that civilization—or perhaps they simply didn't bother.
Hard to imagine how many civilizations the Precursors had invaded over these billions of years.
Two hundred million years ago they'd set their sights on Earth but didn't strike immediately, instead waiting for Earth's environment to gradually transform. This meant they had many planets to colonize and weren't desperate for Earth alone.
"Need to speed this up."
Those Precursors were transferring to another colony space. Natsuki planned to see just how many colonies they still had.
Light gathered between his palms. Two light wheels took form.
"Swish!"
"Swish!"
As another wave of Kaiju rushed forward, two Ultra Slashes shot out, cutting through their bodies entirely before flying toward the Kaiju factories and destroying the source of Kaiju production. The entire space was instantly covered in massive firelight.
"Quick! Faster!" In the hidden corner, the archbishop-level Precursor saw how rapidly this space was falling and hurriedly urged the lower Precursors to speed up opening the small wormhole.
They frantically opened a five-meter-diameter wormhole and had barely stepped one foot inside.
"Whoosh!"
An extremely fast miniaturized figure pursued close behind. Powerful wind pressure directly swept up their bodies, carrying them all into the wormhole together.
Shatterdome.
Rocket boosters were being installed at breakneck speed by countless technicians.
Several Jaeger pilots already stood on the catwalks in their drivesuits, ready to deploy at any moment.
"I heard the Marshal say this battle will be our last." Wei Tang, wearing his red drivesuit, looked at Crimson Typhoon nearly finished with booster installation, his expression solemn.
"Yeah. If all goes well, Kaiju will never appear in this world again." Raleigh stood beside him in his black drivesuit, looking toward Gipsy Danger.
They all knew some of the inside story. They understood this would be their last time piloting Jaegers in combat.
The noisy sounds in the Jaeger bay couldn't hide their surging emotions.
When Kaiju no longer appeared and doomsday turned to dawn, they would no longer be Jaeger pilots. But that... was exactly what they sought.
If this world could be completely saved through their struggle, what regrets would they have?
"Shaolin Rogue... now that's one cool Jaeger." Chuck Hansen leaned against the catwalk railing, his gaze burning as he looked at Shaolin Rogue.
His mind still held images of this Jaeger dominating the battlefield.
"You don't love your Striker Eureka anymore?" Hearing this, Raleigh beside him raised an eyebrow.
"Of course I do." Chuck immediately turned his head. "She completed a great enough mission. I'll never forget her... but she's at rest now."
Every Jaeger pilot cherished their Jaeger deeply. Because of the Drift, they could even treat their Jaegers as family.
"You know, I really looked down on you at first." Looking at Raleigh, thinking the final battle was coming, Chuck suddenly spoke.
"You abandoned your Jaeger once. Disappeared for five years."
"You probably think it's nothing, but... Jaegers have souls. They're not cold machines."
Raleigh had expected Chuck to insult him like before in the mess hall, but was surprised when the kid actually said something with depth.
"You're right. She's not a cold machine." Raleigh looked at Gipsy Danger, his gaze complex. "I spent all that time running away."
"Running from the Jaeger... running from Kaiju... running from my brother's death..."
"Those weren't happy days. Just running away... only makes the pain worse. So now, I'm done running."
"I want to end this with my own hands. I don't want to see anyone else go through what I did."
Raleigh opened his heart, speaking earnestly.
Chuck listened, his evaluation of Raleigh changing somewhat. He hated cowards but didn't hate people who could overcome their cowardice.
"That's right."
"The Kaiju took our loved ones from us. So what we need to do is kill every last one of them in our Jaegers."
"Not just for this world, but for our families."
"Our last battle has to be spectacular." Chuck spoke with full confidence.
These words and attitude improved Raleigh's impression of Chuck as well.
"I feel like you've changed." Raleigh looked at him. "Some... good changes."
He remembered Chuck's personality being more arrogant and domineering. Insulting him a few times would be the normal progression.
But people were multifaceted and complex. They hadn't spent much time together—he'd never fully understood Chuck at all.
"Well..."
"Maybe... a little." Hearing this, Chuck scratched his head, several images flashing through his mind.
He looked at Shaolin Rogue and said, "I used to think I was the best pilot in the world."
"But reality told me there's always someone better."
"Fighting Kaiju all these years, I'd barely experienced despair. But when I truly faced despair, that light saved me."
"My father and I were surrounded by countless Kaiju, but the moment I saw that light, courage surged in my heart."
"I realized... even if shattered to pieces, I absolutely couldn't give up."
Chuck clenched his fist. When held hostage inside the Breach, this very courage had made him choose self-destruction.
And that had completed his transformation.
"Right... never give up." Herc looked at him, face full of pride. "We can end this."
"We can end this." The other pilots also looked at their respective Jaegers and said the same.
