King Ghidorah
The three-headed dragon rose from its icy tomb and claimed the glacial continent. It dominated the storms rolling across that dim, frozen world. Ice and snow swept against its golden body and scattered, driven back, as if the blizzard itself refused to touch it. A deathly pressure radiated outward in every direction.
Every creature living near the South Pole ran. Antarctic wildlife bolted across the ice. Marine life beneath the frozen sea fled into the deep dark. It was the kind of fear written into DNA — the instinct that says run before the mind can form a reason.
One hundred and fifty-eight meters tall. A wingspan of five hundred meters. Golden lightning crackling at its flanks. King Ghidorah stood atop the ruins of the outpost and looked down upon the world below with three massive, contemptuous heads.
It saw the eco-terrorists' abandoned transport helicopter. It saw Monarch's Sky Carrier not far off. Dr. Ishiro Serizawa was pushing Dr. Emma Russell and Madison toward the carrier. Jared and Old De were moving to board and get to the fighter jets.
On the blizzard-scoured ice, one tall, lean figure stood perfectly still. The storm snapped his floral shirt against his ribs. Golden light stirred in his eyes as he stared up at the colossus. No fear. Not even a flinch. Just the cold, measuring gaze of someone who had already decided what came next.
"ROAR!!"
King Ghidorah noticed him. All three heads swung toward that single, unmoving human and bellowed — the same sound it had used since ancient times to drive lesser creatures to their knees.
"You cannot stop it."
"You cannot stop Earth from saving itself." Dr. Emma Russell, being pushed along by Serizawa, heard the roar. She turned and looked back at the beast, and something in her face went slack with relief , the look of someone whose faith had just been confirmed. "It's already done."
Watching it rise with her own eyes had settled it for her. Humanity had no chance against this Titan. None.
"Earth saving itself?"
"Stop talking nonsense!"
"That thing is not an Earth creature. It came here to invade!" Serizawa's voice cracked with anger. The woman's thinking was beyond foolish.
"That's impossible. What proof do you have?" Emma was past listening. The obsession had gone too deep.
"The proof..." Serizawa paused, then looked toward King Ghidorah. "Is right there."
The small figure on the ice had not moved. Had not flinched at the roar.
He felt the vibration travel up through his feet.
He smiled.
THUD!
"HISSS ROAR!!"
The ice sheet split open across a massive stretch. Just as King Ghidorah's heads swung down toward that lone figure, a Titan erupted from below. It slammed headfirst into King Ghidorah's body with a shockwave that sent ice exploding in every direction.
BOOM!
And from the chaos of shattered ice and churning snow, a blinding column of light tore straight into the sky.
A red-and-silver giant rose within that light. He was already moving, already airborne, seizing the opening Godzilla's charge had ripped open. His fist drove into King Ghidorah's body with full force, and the impact sent the three-headed dragon skidding back, crashing through ice sheets and collapsing snowbanks until it went down.
King Ghidorah dragged itself upright from the dark ice. It looked across at what stood before it: a Titan with savage fire burning in its eyes, and a giant whose gaze was steady and bright as a judge's.
"Godzilla... and..." Emma had been shoved through the Sky Carrier's rear hatch, still partially open. She stared at the scene below, something she couldn't quite process crossing her face.
Godzilla wants to stop Monster Zero?
She'd always understood Godzilla's relationship with the MUTOs , ancient enemies, natural rivals. But that had been the extent of it.
That giant. What was it? It had interfered with Rodan's awakening in Mexico. And now it was here, trying to stop Monster Zero?
"Ultraman."
"That is Ultraman." Serizawa watched the giant and the beast standing side by side, and his voice was quiet with something close to awe.
The Titan , guardian of Earth's natural balance. And the giant who had crossed the stars for peace. Standing together, facing the invader that had been sealed away since before recorded history. He believed, watching it, that he was witnessing something that would outlast all of them.
"ROAR!!"
King Ghidorah spread its golden wings and rose. The moment all three heads fixed on Godzilla, ancient memory flooded back , the war, the defeat, the ice closing over it. Being frozen was its eternal humiliation.
And now, barely awake, Godzilla was the first thing it saw.
The rage that had been compressed across an immeasurable span of time ignited all at once.
It stood taller than both of them. Its presence pressed down heavier. It didn't know what this glowing giant was or where it came from, but it was standing here, and that was enough. It would burn alongside Godzilla.
Hmmm. Hmmm.
Golden energy gathered deep inside its body. Even through its armored hide, the lightning was visible, coiling and building, surging up through its throat toward all three heads. One strike. Both of them, gone.
Hmmm. Hmmm.
Godzilla's eyes blazed. Its dorsal fins lit up one by one, blue light spreading down each ridge as it charged its Atomic Breath.
The giant did not move yet.
"I am a member of the Space Garrison from the M78 Nebula." The voice came from nowhere, low and resonant, landing directly in King Ghidorah's mind. "You have two choices. Come with me to the Space Prison and face judgment for your crimes. Or resist, and be put down here."
King Ghidorah understood the words. It didn't know how. It didn't care.
Judgment. Someone wanted to judge it.
It was the apex predator. The destroyer of Venus's civilization. No living thing in this universe had the standing to judge King Ghidorah.
"ROAR!!" Three Gravity Beams erupted from three heads simultaneously, golden and blinding. That was its answer.
"HISSS ROAR!!"
Godzilla answered back. Blue Atomic Breath surged out and met one of the Gravity Beams head-on, the two forces grinding against each other until they canceled out.
The other two Gravity Beams swung toward the giant, the one who had dared to speak of judgment. King Ghidorah would reduce him to nothing.
HMMM!!
The giant raised his hands. No wind-up, no charge, just the motion, and Specium Rays erupted from his palms in a blaze of white light. Faster than the Gravity Beams. He drove them forward, pushing into both beams at once, neither slowing nor yielding.
The Specium Rays burned at temperatures that had no business existing in this world. As they crossed the ice field, the frozen surface beneath them melted instantly, solid ice to water in a heartbeat, then water to steam in the next, vapor drifting upward into the frozen air where it would eventually fall again as snow.
Godzilla's Atomic Breath, running at full output, hammered the surrounding icebergs. They cracked. They fell. Whole formations that had stood for centuries came apart in seconds.
Three colossal beings. Three weapons that rewrote geography with every exchange. The ice field became a no-man's-land, a place no human could survive, the moment the fight began.
The Sky Carrier had already cleared the area. That was the only reason anyone watching was still alive.
"Thank God this is the South Pole." Serizawa stared at the collapsing glacier below and let out a slow breath.
If this had happened in a city, the death toll would have been beyond counting. Even with Ultraman there, he wasn't sure anyone could have protected enough people.
"Dr. Serizawa!" A technician's voice cut across the carrier's main hall the moment he stepped inside. "Mothra is moving toward the South Pole — fast!"
