"How is this possible?"
"Monster Zero actually..."
Inside the Sky Carrier, Dr. Emma Russell watched the footage , Monster Zero caught off guard, one of its heads severed clean by the giant's blade , and felt something shift in her chest.
A giant with no record in any historical text, displaying power that dwarfed the Titans. How? What was this thing?
If Godzilla had faced King Ghidorah alone, the outcome was never in question. Godzilla would lose. But now, with this mysterious giant fighting alongside him, Godzilla had the clear upper hand. None of this was supposed to happen.
If King Ghidorah fell, her plan fell with it.
Whether the remaining Titans could even handle Godzilla was already uncertain. Adding a giant like this into the equation made the math terrifying.
"You suspect Monster Zero is an invader," Dr. Emma said, turning to Dr. Ishiro Serizawa. "Doesn't it follow that this giant could be one too?"
He had hitched a ride on a Monarch transport to reach the South Pole. Serizawa had led them here.
If the giant were just a powerful creature, she could work with that. But that bracelet , the one that transformed into a weapon , pointed somewhere else entirely. Something that could create tools came from a civilization. And a single individual with this level of power, if the civilization behind him held even a sliver of malice toward Earth...
They would be fish on a chopping block. Nothing more.
"Ultraman is not an invader."
"He is..." Dr. Ishiro Serizawa turned to look at her, his voice quiet and certain. "He is the hero who saved an entire town."
In Mexico, the giant had countless ways to end that fight fast. He chose the slowest one. The most careful one. The one that saved the most lives.
That giant, straining under a dying sun to shield people who couldn't protect themselves , Serizawa would never call something like that an enemy.
He cared for human life more than Godzilla did. That much was plain.
And after learning about the two retired veterans, Serizawa had only grown more certain. The giant was the kind of being you only found in stories , and yet here he was, standing in the real world, offering it something that felt almost like grace.
"Godzilla trusts him. That means this planet trusts him."
"You are the one who is wrong, Emma." Serizawa's voice didn't waver. "Without Godzilla and Ultraman right now, you would have brought a catastrophe down on this world."
Dr. Emma Russell said nothing. On the screen, King Ghidorah was losing ground.
An existence with that much power, choosing to fight for the weak. She didn't want to believe it. The idea hit her worldview like a fist, and she had no answer for it.
...
"HRRAAUGH!!"
Another Atomic Breath tore from Godzilla's jaws, blazing across the dim glacier, slamming into King Ghidorah where the giant had it pinned.
Atomic Breath could punch from the surface to the Earth's core. It was not a technique anyone took lightly.
The giant felt it coming. He was mid-swing, shield driving into King Ghidorah's body, when he broke off, one sharp roll to the side, and came up with the shield raised to his right.
"BOOM!!"
"RRRAAUGH!!"
The beam hit King Ghidorah full-on, tearing into its hide, burning and breaking. Not fatal. But the pain was absolutely real.
The shockwave rolled outward and hit the shield. Absorbed.
Anyone else would have eaten that blast alongside King Ghidorah. Natsuki had the experience to feel it coming, get clear, and catch the energy on his way out. Nineteen thousand years of fights had a way of sharpening those instincts.
"BOOM!!"
He turned and fired it straight back.
King Ghidorah's regeneration was obscene. The severed head was already budding , flesh knitting, a new skull taking shape right before their eyes.
The reflected Atomic Breath hit the regrowth dead center. Secondary damage. The wound tore open again before it could close.
"RRRAAUGH!!" King Ghidorah screamed. Its two remaining heads answered , one Gravity Beam shoving back against Godzilla's Atomic Breath, the other swinging hard toward the giant.
It was done playing. It understood now: if it didn't fight like its life depended on it, being frozen in ice would start to sound like the good outcome.
This giant was a nightmare. Too many tools. Mechanics that had no business existing. And the raw numbers to back it all up.
Nineteen thousand years old. When the stats favored him, he just ran them over. When they didn't, he had the experience and the tricks to dismantle you anyway. Genuinely, unreasonably dirty.
In the ancient world, King Ghidorah had stood over every Titan like a king. It crushed them all , every one except that white giant lizard. It had taken every Titan working in concert to drag it down and seal it in the glacier.
And now this. Some giant appearing out of nowhere, radiating pure energy so clean it was almost tempting, and fighting like a one-man law enforcement nightmare.
The Gravity Beam broke against the shield. The shield folded away. In its place: a spear, sharp and ready.
Natsuki had already read the play. King Ghidorah was going airborne.
"THUD — THUD — THUD —" Godzilla came charging across the fractured ice, the glacier groaning under each step, the light blazing along his dorsal fins. "HRRAAUGH!!"
He had held back before this. Conserved, waited, prepared. Now he was running at full power.
"WHOOOM , WHOOOM ,"
King Ghidorah spread its massive golden wings. The storm hit like a wall , wind screaming across the Antarctic ice, hammering into both the giant and Godzilla, throwing off their footing and their aim.
Then the enormous body lifted. It rose into the dark Antarctic sky, gold against black, lightning crackling around it in shapes that weren't natural. The sight pressed down on everything below it.
Godzilla couldn't fly. In the air, King Ghidorah only had one enemy left to deal with.
At the same time ,
"CHREEEE!!"
Far out across the Antarctic waters, something broke the surface. It rose into the sky on wings that moved like silk, luminous and vast, casting a dreamlike glow across the dark ocean. Her eyes were fixed on the glacier continent ahead.
Even from this distance, she could see the storm swallowing the ice. The darkness that had swallowed it whole.
She worried about Godzilla. She had always known his strength alone wasn't enough to beat King Ghidorah. The moment she sensed it wake, she had come at full speed, crossing the ocean without stopping.
There was only one path to victory now. Her and Godzilla, together.
Even if he had already fallen by the time she arrived , she would use everything she had left to bring him back to his feet.
Mothra.
