"Come on, Ella, sit next to me."
Ella Grant walked over.
"I didn't even see you, Ella. I heard you bought a new dress today. You should try it on for Mom later."
Sabrina Anderson was determined to make things uncomfortable, and there was nothing Elle could do about it.
"I told you, you don't deserve to be my mom".
Leo chuckled lightly, ignoring the dark scowl on Sabrina's face as he handed a glass of water to Ella.
"Here, drink some water. It'll help your throat so you can speak more easily."
Sabrina felt increasingly awkward and had no choice but to find a way to save face.
"Seeing how close you two are, I'm really happy for your dad."
Happy? Ella didn't buy it. Sabrina was probably on the verge of losing it, but Ella felt surprisingly cheerful, even eating a bit more than usual.
After heading upstairs, Ella finally checked her phone. There was a missed call from Sean Anderson. After a moment of thought, she decided to call him back; after all, he was her best friend here.

"If you win, the prize is five hundred thousand!"
To be honest, Sean wasn't too sure about this either. After all, Ella Grant had only had that one impressive performance. But that prize money was too tempting to pass up; they had to give it a shot.
Ella Grant paused for a moment.
"It's okay if I don't go. After all, this competition sounds really tough. We can look for other opportunities."
What Sean didn't realize was that Ella's hesitation wasn't due to the difficulty of the competition, but rather that the prize was too low. Only five hundred thousand? Was it really worth her time?
But then again, she thought, if she had nothing else to do, why not spend some time gaming?
"Alright."
Sean quickly sent her the organizer's website. Ella logged in on her phone, her fingers flying across the keyboard.
Suddenly, a message popped up on the screen. Ella Grant sneered, wondering what kind of clueless fool dared to approach her.
