Chapter 57 - CHAPTER 57: Mischief

"Should I start calling you a miracle worker?" Lenn joked.

"I wouldn't mind," Ella Grant replied with a laugh, enjoying the rare moment of lightheartedness.

After the massage, Lenn hesitated, wanting to say something but holding back.

"Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable?" Ella asked.

"No, it's just that I have a small favor to ask," Lenn admitted shyly.

"You saved my life, so any request is reasonable," Ella encouraged him.

Finally, Lenn spoke up, "Maybe you could come to see me more often. It would make it easier for you to help me with my health, and it would also give me someone to talk to."

"If you want, the doors of the Pei family will always be open for you. If I'm in a better mood, maybe my health will improve faster," Ella said thoughtfully, though she had no knowledge of the Pei family.

"If you don't want to, then forget it," she added, noticing a hint of disappointment on his face. She felt a twinge of guilt; after all, she would still need to use Lenn's name in the Grant family. It seemed that he had always been helping her without her doing anything in return.

"Alright then."

Lenn Pei had already lost hope, so when he suddenly heard Ella Grant agree, he wondered if he was imagining things.

"Really?"

Ella nodded firmly.

For the first time, Lenn smiled—a genuine smile that came from the heart.

When he got home, Dalton Grant had been going on and on about the family dinner.

"None of you better embarrass me tomorrow!"

"Everyone in the family will be there, and if anyone messes up, I won't let you off easily."

Just then, Ella Grant walked in through the door.

Stella Grant's eyes lit up with mischief as she feigned surprise. "Oh, so you've been gone this whole time? Dad has been talking for ages, and if the family dinner flops, it won't be good."

Dalton Grant turned to see Ella and immediately erupted in anger, hurling a teacup at her!

"Unruly girl, sit down!"

Ella Grant calmly dodged the teacup and casually found a place to sit.

Dalton Grant felt a wave of concern wash over him as soon as he saw her. No matter who else was around, he thought they would be more reliable than this daughter of his. His other children—two, three, and four—were all capable and could handle things on their own. Stella Grant was a good kid who wouldn't cause trouble. The question of whether the other sons would even come back was still up in the air, but if they did, that would be a good thing. It was only Ella that he felt uncertain about; he had no idea what kind of trouble she might stir up this time.

"Ella, you're to stick with your sister tomorrow. Don't wander off."

"Stella, keep an eye on your sister tomorrow. Don't let her cause any trouble
