Remy's heart was pounding in their chest as they realized the other two hadn't noticed their presentence yet, just the little boy who was now running right on their tail. Remy was practically running for their life.
They could never know what the unfamiliar people wanted. Nobody could be trusted here and Remy knew it so damn well.
Remy had already given up on trying to catch up on Hexa and Aatos's pace at the point they were barely in sight anymore. They needed to get away from the boy. Quickly.
Remy turned their path to go into a nearby forest. There was an old, wooden sign near the enterance. It read 'Eternal Forest', or something similar, but Remy didn't have time to read it. He quickly disappeared into the woods.
After running deep into the forest, Remy finally stopped and turned around. There was no one. Hah, the boy lost the chase because of a simple forest, Remy thought to themself.
But then their they froze in fear as they felt a warm hand on their shoulder. When they realized they didn't get killed right away by the person, they turned around to see a darker-skinned woman with long, green hair, which was tied back in two uneven braids, and eyes a reddish shade of pink. She had a sweet smile on her lips.
"Are you lost, kiddo?" The woman asked.
Remy looked at her with slightly widened eyes. They didn't expect anyone to actually care. Their words got stuck in their throat, so they just nodded as a response.
"Where are your parents?" She asked with a sweet tone, her smile still present.
Remy felt like crying as they heard the word 'parents'. They felt torn. One side of them wanted to tell her the truth and let it all out, but their logical side told them to stay strong, keep quiet and not tell this stranger anything. Their eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"Do you not want to tell? Did something happen?" She said, her tone changing to a slightly more worried one, her smile fading slightly as she saw the struggle on Remy's facial expression. It was obvious they were holding back tears.
That's when Remy couldn't hold back their feelings anymore. The sweetness, the topic; it all broke through their walls they were trying to keep rebuilding. They started crying quietly.
Meanwhile Hexa and Aatos had found their way to a small village. It was called 'Etherium'. The name of the village was carved into a rusty metal board that was attached to a wall with some nails.
In the centre of the house-crowded town, there was a spaceful area where nothing was built. Judging from the amount of houses cramped together in the village, there lived quite a lot of people, but there was just a few people to be seen outside.
Aatos's eyes found someone. This guy was using some kind of a wand to summon a flame. He approached, his eyes gleaming with interest.
"That's so freaking cool! What kind of a system are you using for this machine? Can I see the prototype?" Aatos said, excited like a little child in the candy shop.
"What?" The villager asked, seeming confused.
"I'm so happy I got to a place with others who know advanced technology!" Aatos said euthusiastically.
The villager sighed. "Look, whatever you're trying to explain here goes in from one ear and out from the other. I don't know what this 'advanced technology' is. I'm a wizard and this is a completely normal magic wand. I don't know what the hell you want." He said before walking away.
That left Aatos stunned, his eyes wide. Hexa, standing next to her, placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know this wasn't want you wanted, but we can get out of here whenever you want to." Hexa said before pushing Aatos by that shoulder.
Aatos stumbled back, trying to keep his balance. "I know. Let's get out of here before word about how we got here goes out." He said with a small frown.
The two started walking, but their trip was cut short by the sight of Remy and the green haired stranger walking towards the village.
"Strange. Wasn't Remy supposed to be home to get us out of he.." Hexa trailed off. "There's nobody to get us out of here!"
