Chapter 23: Are We Still Breaking Up?
"Should we just break up then?" Xie Yang said.
Qi Xu stared at him quietly for a long time, then suddenly smiled. "Xie Yang, are you deliberately trying to provoke me?"
Xie Yang shook his head, about to speak, when warm lips covered his again.
Qi Xu's slightly parted lips facilitated Qi Xu's entrance, his agile tongue exploring into Xie Yang's mouth, curling around his soft tongue.
Passionate entanglement.
Xie Yang was pressed against the wall by him, his hands held up over his head by Qi Xu's hand, and he could only tilt his head to endure his hot kiss.
Instinctively, Xie Yang closed his eyes. He was kissed all over, feeling numb all over, and didn't know how to resist.
But subconsciously, he didn't want to reject Qi Xu's closeness.
He was even addicted to it.
It wasn't until he was almost suffocating from lack of oxygen that Qi Xu finally let him go.
His hands were weakly held by Qi Xu, his half-closed eyes misty with tears, innocent eyes hinting at spring tides.
Qi Xu swallowed and looked down at his slightly swollen lips, his voice hoarse as he asked, "Are we still breaking up?"
Xie Yang: "I…"
Before he could finish his sentence, Qi Xu leaned down and bit his lip.
Their eyes met, and Xie Yang's eyelashes trembled slightly.
"Are we still breaking up?"
He asked again like this.
Xie Yang's cheeks were flushed, his heart beating faster, unable to resist the excitement surging up.
The feeling of kissing Qi Xu made him dizzy all over.
Two and a half years of secret love, fragments of memories scattered in his mind, chaotic and disorderly.
The slight pain on his lips seemed to still carry Qi Xu's breath.
Looking up at Qi Xu's fiery eyes, Xie Yang shook his head and softly replied, "No, let's not break up."
Qi Xu released his grip on Xie Yang's hands, a smile spreading in his eyes, a tenderness on his brows that Xie Yang had never seen before.
"I promise you."
"We won't publicly announce our relationship for the time being."
"Will that put you at ease?"
Xie Yang was slightly stunned. He hadn't expected Qi Xu to agree.
He had just shown so much resistance.
Now he agreed to such an unreasonable request.
Qi Xu held his hand, feeling the chill in his hand again, frowning slightly. He leaned his head against Xie Yang's and rubbed his cold hands with his warm palms, saying, "I know what you're worried about, but Xie Yang, life doesn't have that many spectators, we're not characters in a story, nor do we need to please others."
"Or perhaps, do you feel their gazes are so important that you'd rather choose to give up on me?"
Xie Yang's heart trembled suddenly, looking down at his hand in Qi Xu's palm.
In truth, he understood all this, but for now, he didn't have the courage.
He needed a little time to digest, to settle down, to affirm their feelings.
He wanted to have so much love, but even if he didn't have it, it was okay.
Because he already had what he most wanted.
This was good as it was now.
His humble secret love had finally come to a perfect conclusion.
The person he loved had come to him actively.
Countless days and nights of longing, at this moment, received their echo.
Xie Yang lifted his head to meet Qi Xu's gentle gaze, recalling the scene of their kiss just now, suddenly blushing, unable to say what he wanted to say, and could only stutter, "Qi Xu, thank you."
Hearing Xie Yang call him "Qi Xu" again made him feel a little helpless. "Clearly, when we were online dating, you called me 'Brother' affectionately. Now that we've met, it's 'Qi Xu'."
Xie Yang bit his lip in embarrassment, blinking his innocent big eyes at him.
Calling him "Brother" was too shy; he couldn't say it for a while.
Qi Xu took out his phone and checked the time. It was already very late.
Although he wasn't hungry, Qi Xu thought about Xie Yang still being ill.
His little assistant indeed looked as he had expected—thin and frail, with signs of malnutrition.
Even wearing so many clothes, he still appeared very slim.
His pointed chin and small face.
Seeing Sheng Fei's message to him, Qi Xu suddenly remembered that Xie Yang hadn't added him on WeChat yet.
Qi Xu looked at Xie Yang again, his gaze deep and contemplative. "Take out your phone."
Xie Yang was startled. He had always been very obedient.
He took out his phone from his pocket and handed it over to Qi Xu obediently.
Qi Xu tapped the screen with no response, and his gaze darkened a little as he looked at Xie Yang. "Did you turn it off to avoid me?"
Xie Yang dared not speak, silently hugging the book in his arms.
After Qi Xu accepted his friend request, he deliberately changed his own nickname to "Husband" right in front of Xie Yang.
Xie Yang suddenly looked at Qi Xu, somewhat shocked.
He felt like a ripe shrimp now.
Despite the freezing temperature outside, he felt overheated.
Qi Xu warned him with a glance, "Don't change it back, understood?"
Xie Yang could only nod. "Understood."
In fact, the nickname didn't matter.
As long as Qi Xu liked it.
As long as Qi Xu liked it, he wouldn't object to anything.
If these little things could make Qi Xu happy, then that was the best.
He hoped Qi Xu would choose him without regrets and be happy with this relationship.
That would be enough for him.
Qi Xu returned the phone to Xie Yang, rubbed his bangs on his forehead, and helped him readjust his hat. "Are you hungry? Let's go eat."
Xie Yang hesitated for a moment, then remained silent for a few seconds before waving to him uncertainly. "Then… goodbye?"
Qi Xu's heart twitched slightly, and he calmly said, "Are you planning to leave me here?"
Xie Yang thought he was asking if he wanted him to go eat alone and didn't dare to think too much.
He wanted to ask but didn't dare, fearing he was being presumptuous.
He didn't feel like he was really in a relationship with Qi Xu now.
Hearing the dissatisfaction in Qi Xu's tone, Xie Yang could only explain softly, "The cafeteria is a bit crowded."
Qi Xu's face was too eye-catching in the crowd.
And they had agreed not to reveal their relationship yet.
Qi Xu pinched his cheek. "Hmm, you go back to the dorm first and put away your books. I'll bring the car to wait for you at the school gate."
Xie Yang nodded. "Okay."
As he turned to leave, Qi Xu suddenly pulled him back.
In Xie Yang's puzzled eyes, Qi Xu spoke seriously, "When saying goodbye to your boyfriend, you should kiss him proactively to express your love."
Xie Yang was somewhat shocked. Was that so?
He had never been in a relationship before and didn't understand how lovers should interact.
Qi Xu spoke earnestly, making up nonsense, "That's the only way to keep our romance alive."
Xie Yang suddenly realized.
Nervously and shyly, he tiptoed and lightly kissed Qi Xu's corner of the lips under his burning gaze.
This dragonfly-kiss was just like Xie Yang's character, pure and obedient.
Qi Xu smiled satisfactorily. "Good boy, go ahead."
Watching Xie Yang's fleeing figure, Qi Xu's eyes filled with amusement.
He had lost his treasure for a few days.
Finally, it returned to his side.
Xie Yang didn't dare linger, hurriedly turned and left. He was too shy.
On the way back to the dormitory, his mind was filled with images of kissing Qi Xu.
Apart from the peck on the cheek, they had kissed a total of five times.
He had never dared to imagine being so intimate with Qi Xu.
They had become lovers.
If it weren't for the slight tingling sensation in his lips, he wouldn't have believed it was real.
He was so happy, returning to the dormitory with a smile on his face.
He and Qi Xu were together!
Xie Yang put away his books, went to the bathroom to wash his face with cold water, trying to cool down his flushed face from the shyness. The icy water even turned his hands red.
Thinking that Qi Xu was still waiting for him at the school gate, he didn't dare linger in the dormitory too long, afraid that Qi Xu would become impatient.
He hurried to the school gate, and when he saw the car with hazard lights on, he hesitated for a moment before choosing to open the passenger door. There, he found a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
Xie Yang was slightly stunned. Was this bouquet meant for him?
Qi Xu watched him dumbfounded there and smirked, "If you don't hurry up, you'll attract a crowd."
Hearing Qi Xu's words, Xie Yang quickly picked up the flowers and got into the car.
Qi Xu moved closer to him, lightly kissed the corner of his lips under Xie Yang's nervous gaze, and then pulled the passenger seatbelt across to buckle him up, saying in a not entirely serious tone, "I just wanted to buckle your seatbelt."
Xie Yang's face turned red again.
So, it was just a misunderstanding on his part.
At that moment, he had thought Qi Xu wanted to kiss him.
He looked at the flowers in his hand and gently sniffed them. Roses didn't actually smell that good.
But he could smell a faint scent of gardenia, which was Qi Xu's scent.
Looking at the vibrant roses, Xie Yang furrowed his brows slightly.
He clearly remembered that Qi Xu didn't like flowers, and he was even allergic to pollen.
But Qi Xu seemed to be in a good mood and showed no signs of allergies.
He still wasn't used to being alone with Qi Xu in such a small space, in the car. He could even hear Qi Xu's shallow breathing.
He couldn't boldly interact with Qi Xu like he did with others.
For so many years, he had been like a little tail following Qi Xu.
For a while, he couldn't correct himself. He realized that he could stand beside him now.
The car was quiet. Xie Yang swallowed the words he wanted to say.
In the end, he obediently held the flowers and looked straight ahead, not daring to look at Qi Xu more than once.
Qi Xu: "You said you really liked flowers."
His initiative to speak made Xie Yang breathe a sigh of relief. "Thank you, I really like them."
This was the first bouquet of flowers Qi Xu had given him. If Qi Xu wasn't sitting next to him, he would have wanted to take a picture to remember it.
Qi Xu: "You're still so polite to your boyfriend. It's either 'thank you' or 'sorry'."
Hearing the word "boyfriend" made Xie Yang feel a bit shy. The relief he had just felt was replaced with nervousness again. He was so nervous.
This was their first date, and he didn't want to mess it up.
At the same time, he was annoyed with his clumsiness. He didn't want Qi Xu to think he was boring or dull.
Summoning his courage, he stammered, "Aren't you allergic to pollen?"
Qi Xu replied instinctively, "No."
Xie Yang was surprised. Qi Xu had mentioned not liking flowers himself, and almost everyone who knew him from high school knew that.
Qi Xu explained, "I just said that because I find it annoying when someone confesses to me."
During every holiday, he would return to the classroom to find all sorts of flowers on his desk.
He doesn't like it, so he deliberately said he's allergic to pollen.
Xie Yang nodded, he understood now.
Qi Xu tilted his head and glanced at him, smiling with his eyes, teasing him intentionally, "I only give flowers to people I like."
