Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: Prelude to the Min Family Legacy

now this one : They skidded to a stop behind a corner, lungs burning, shoes soaked from puddles, hearts still racing.

Minjae dropped the lie detector on the ground. "Finally... freedom! I swear this thing weighs more than my entire life!"

Yuki grinned, pulling out her phone. "Relax. Delivery friend's here. Hand it over."

A guy appeared from the shadows, looking slightly terrified but ready. "Uh... okay. Where do I—"

Yuki shoved the lie detector into his arms. "Just take it! Fast. Don't get caught. And don't drop it, genius!"

Momo collapsed onto a low wall, panting. "I can't believe we just ran from cops... and boss's friends... with electronics!"

Jihyo laughed, swiping water off her hands. "Next experiment: survival skills. Five-star difficulty!"

Jennie leaned against a lamppost. "And we all survive because... why exactly? Oh right, Yuki's genius plan. That's why."

Minjae groaned. "YAHHH, I'm never trusting you again! I can't go to jail! And you made me carry this!" He gestured at the lie detector like it had personally insulted him.

Yuki smirked, brushing her hair back. "Oh, come on! You'll thank me when we're rich. And remember, you are part of the chaos class legacy now."

Momo snorted. "Legacy? We almost got arrested... for science!"

Jihyo waved a hand dramatically. "And it was totally worth it. Heart-rate study—success!"

Jennie laughed. "Next time, remind me to stick to normal experiments. This is insane."

Yuki threw a victorious glance at the group. "Nah... this is perfect. We ran, we recorded, we survived. And now? Riches. Glory. Chaos. And everyone's gonna hear about it in future."

Minjae groaned. "Yeah, yeah... just don't forget me when you're rich, Yuki."

Yuki smirked, leading them down another alley. "Don't worry. When I get rich... you all get rich too. Now move, we're five minutes away from the main part of the plan!"

They are panting heavily, hands on knees, sweat dripping, hearts still racing.

Momo wiped her forehead and gasped, "Okay... okay... Yuki... why are you so obsessed with getting rich? You had a comfortable life! We've always seen you enjoying life. Then why?"

Yuki smirked, brushing hair out of her face. "Come on... let's go to my apartment. Sleepover. I'll tell you why... since you guys almost risked your lives for me."

Minjae groaned, holding his chest. "Uh... I have a girlfriend, guys. Not me!"

Momo and Jihyo burst out laughing. "Your girlfriend is our girlfriend too! You forgot we would call her!"

Jennie nudged him. "Come on, slowpoke. Let's move!"

Minjae waved his hands dramatically. "I'm not running anymore! You guys are insane!"

Yuki rolled her eyes, smirking. "Exactly why you're still alive, Minjae. Now get moving before I start running again."

They finally reached Yuki and Jennie's apartment, still panting and laughing, adrenaline slowly fading.

Jennie flopped onto the couch. "I swear... my legs might file a complaint tomorrow."

Yuki smirked, pulling out her phone. "Let's order some food. Chaos calories required."

Momo leaned over the menu, giggling. "I vote for everything. We earned it."

Minutes later, their food arrived, steaming and delicious. They dug in like absolute chaos warriors.

Just then, Minjae's girlfriend appeared at the door, holding an extra set of clothes. "Hey... I brought something for him."

Momo peeked at the oversized dress clothes. "Ah, perfect. Girls, grab the comfy oversized stuff from Yuki and Jennie. Floor beds for tonight!"

The team quickly changed into comfy clothes—oversized sweaters, soft pants, socks—and sprawled out on blankets and cushions they arranged on the floor. Jennie kicked off her shoes, plopped down, and sighed.

After finishing the last bite of their food, all of them plopped themselves in floor bed and then someone finally brought up the topic on everyone's mind.

"So... Yuki," Jihyo said, leaning on her elbow. "What's this big reason you wanted to be rich?"

Yuki took a deep breath, sitting cross-legged on her blanket. "Alright... listen carefully. I guess... I've never really told anyone the whole story before."

The group leaned in, eyes wide, elbows brushing, anticipation buzzing in the room.

"Its the story about my family...... Background Story of Happy Min Family

35 Years Back then.......

It was a crisp autumn afternoon, and 10th grader Min Hyun Ki had no idea that his quiet stroll was about to turn into pure chaos. His best friend, Jihoon, had convinced him to join a "mission of epic importance" — to sneak into the park orchard and pick the ripest apples in the city.

"They're not just any apples, Hyun," Jihoon whispered conspiratorially as they crouched behind a bush, "these are magical apples. Eat one, and your brain gets smarter. I read it online. Totally true."

Min Hyun rolled his eyes. "Magical apples? Really? You believe everything you read?"

Jihoon shot him a look of horror. "Of course I do! And besides, we're only taking a few. No one will notice. It's a victimless heist."

So, the two boys tiptoed toward the orchard like amateur spies, backpacks open, ready to fill with fruit. Min Hyun's coat got snagged on a branch almost immediately, leaving him tangled and flailing. Jihoon, ignoring his friend's struggles, climbed the tree like a squirrel possessed, reaching for the "smartest apple" at the very top.

"Hyun! Help me! This one is glowing!" Jihoon cried, dangling dangerously from a thin branch.

Min Hyun ki sighed and tried to grab the apple from below — only to knock another branch, which sent a cascade of apples tumbling down. One hit Jihoon on the head, another bounced off Min Hyun ki's shoulder, and a third smacked into a passing jogger, who yelped in surprise and gave them a suspicious glare.

"Run!" Jihoon whispered urgently, as Min Hyun tripped over a tree root, fell flat on his face, and sent his backpack flying into a puddle. The "victimless heist" was quickly turning into a disaster.

Their mischief caught the attention of the park's gardener, an elderly man with an impressive glare and a rake that looked far too menacing to ignore. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" he shouted, waving the rake like a sword.

"Nothing! Just... uh... picking... apples!" Jihoon stammered. "For science!"

"For science?" Min Hyun muttered under his breath, crawling out of the mud with an apple stuck to his hair.

Before the gardener could advance, a stray dog appeared, barking and chasing one of the runaway apples. In the ensuing chaos, both boys screamed, ran, and collided into a low bench — right under a cherry tree where a beautiful girl was sitting. She looked up from her sketchbook just as Min Hyun crashed on the bench upside down, mud-spattered, apples rolling around him, and Jihoon hanging upside down from a branch like some kind of clumsy acrobat.

Min Hyun froze. All thoughts of embarrassment, yelling gardeners, and slippery apples vanished the moment he saw her. She sat there quietly, sketching, completely unfazed by the comedic disaster that had unfolded at her feet. The sunlight hit her hair perfectly, and for the first time, Min Hyun felt something strange in his chest — a flutter he had never noticed before.

Jihoon, oblivious to romance, finally dropped to the ground with a loud thud, sending one final apple bouncing off Min Hyun's knee. "Hyun! Did you see that? I almost caught the magical one!"

Min Hyun could only stare, his heart pounding and his brain half-frozen. He didn't know her name, didn't know her class, didn't know if he should even speak — but he knew one thing: he would never forget the girl under the cherry tree who had somehow made this ridiculous, chaotic day feel... strangely perfect.

And from that moment on, Min Hyun decided — no more ignoring Jihoon's nonsense, because maybe, just maybe, it had led him to the most important person he would ever meet.

After the chaotic apple orchard incident, Min Hyun couldn't stop thinking about the girl — the cherry girl. Her calm presence in the midst of utter chaos had captivated him. He wanted to speak to her, to know her name, to somehow tell her how striking she was.

Gathering his courage, he started toward her bench, careful not to slip on the fallen apples. But just as he opened his mouth to say something, a car horn blared loudly from the park's edge. The cherry girl's head snapped up, and Min Hyun saw the reason: her parents' car had just arrived.

She gave him a quick, fleeting glance — just long enough for him to think she might smile — and then, like a ghost, she was gone, walking briskly toward the car. There was no chance for him to call her name, no chance to introduce himself.

Min Hyun stood frozen, mud-smeared coat and apples rolling at his feet, watching her leave. His heart pounded — part embarrassment, part longing. That single moment cemented a determination he hadn't felt before: he had to see her again, no matter what.

From the day he first saw the cherry girl, Min Hyun had a secret goal behind every adventure: encounter her again. And Jihoon, of course, had a knack for dragging him into the most absurd schemes, all without realizing the real purpose.

The Hill Treasure Hunt: Jihoon claimed that an old abandoned villa on the outskirts of Seoul, atop a little hill, hid a "treasure chest" left by some wealthy eccentric decades ago. Naturally, he convinced Min Hyun to come along. They climbed the hill, slipping over loose rocks, swinging from tree branches, and accidentally setting off a nest of crows that attacked them mercilessly. Min Hyun ended up face-first in a bush while Jihoon dangled from a cracked balcony railing of the villa, screaming about "hidden riches." In the end, the "treasure" turned out to be a dusty tin of expired candy — but the adventure was unforgettable.

The Old Factory Exploration: Jihoon insisted they explore an abandoned textile factory in the city. With no lights, creaking wooden floors, and stacks of crates everywhere, the boys crawled through narrow passageways and climbed broken staircases. At one point, Min Hyun slipped on spilled oil, sending him skidding across the floor while Jihoon toppled into a pile of cloth rolls, making a thunderous noise that echoed through the empty building. They barely escaped before a security guard found them, running down the street covered in dust and bruises.

The Flower Market Incident — The Sketch Girl Appears: One Saturday, Jihoon dragged Min Hyun to the bustling flower market in central Seoul, declaring it a "cultural exploration." Jihoon immediately ran amok: climbing ladders to inspect pots, tipping over crates of oranges, and narrowly missing a stack of flower baskets. Min Hyun sighed, bending down to gather the rolling fruit, when he finally saw her: the cherry girl, calmly selecting flowers at a stall, sketchbook tucked under her arm.

Time seemed to stop. She moved like a ghost through the crowd, focused entirely on her flowers, completely unaware of the chaos around her. Min Hyun ran toward her, hoping to say something — but before he could reach her, a loud shout from a vendor and a cascade of fallen crates forced her to slip away into the crowd. She vanished again, leaving him frustrated, breathless, and even more determined.

Min Hyun wasn't just any teenager. Born into a wealthy family, he was the only son of a powerful industrialist whose printing empire spanned Seoul and beyond. They owned multiple properties, luxury cars, and even a small villa in the countryside. Though he had the privileges of wealth, Min Hyun had a restless curiosity and a love for small adventures — especially if Jihoon was involved.

One autumn afternoon, Jihoon convinced Min Hyun and a few friends to explore the school's art department, claiming it was "the perfect secret lair to discover hidden treasures." Naturally, their curiosity got the better of them. They slipped past corridors, climbed staircases, and accidentally knocked over paint cans, sending streaks of bright color across the floors.

Their mischief didn't go unnoticed. The teacher caught them in the act, shaking her head at their ridiculous antics. "Detention. You'll be mopping the art room and cleaning the stage for the next art showcase. And don't think you'll be sneaking out early!"

The punishment seemed almost too perfect. While scrubbing floors and organizing supplies, Min Hyun noticed someone quietly arranging her sketch materials in the corner of the room. She was calm, composed, and utterly absorbed in her work — unmistakably the same cherry girl from the park and the flower market.

Min Hyun froze, mud and paint forgotten. The way she moved, her careful, deliberate gestures, made him feel both nervous and mesmerized. And then, the teacher addressed her directly: "Kang Soojin, could you help me set up the stage for the art talk?"

There it was. Her name. Kang Soojin.

Min Hyun's heart skipped a beat. She wasn't just a mysterious figure anymore; she was a real person, with a name and presence that made the room feel different. She was also from a wealthy family like his, introverted, and new to the school that year — all details that made her even more fascinating.

As he watched her quietly follow the teacher's instructions, Min Hyun felt a mix of admiration, curiosity, and determination. For the first time, he knew: this was no fleeting crush. He wanted to know her, to understand her world, and perhaps, one day, to find a way to talk to her — without Jihoon's chaos in the way.

And so, amidst the smell of paint and polished wood, a quiet chapter of destiny began. Min Hyun now had a name, a place, and a clear goal: slowly, carefully, he would get closer to Kang Soojin.

Lets see what happnes next. Do their heart tangles or is it just a mere part of life?
