Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : The Task Appears

The mansion was silent again, its corridors still humming faintly from Raagini's wrath. Moonlight spilled through the tall windows, painting pale streaks across the floor. The air was heavy with the echoes of screams and whispers that had only just faded.

Alex stood in the study, his face half-lit by the flickering glow of a dying candle. On the desk before him lay an open ledger—one that hadn't been touched in decades. He traced the worn pages absentmindedly, his mind replaying the trio's terrified faces.

Raagini materialized beside him, her form softer now, calmer, her anger spent. "They will not escape," she said quietly. "Fear has bound them to this place."

Alex gave a faint smile. "Good. Fear is only the beginning."

Then it happened.

A sudden chime—sharp and metallic—cut through the stillness. Ding.

Alex froze. A faint, glowing text appeared in midair before him, floating like smoke made of light.

> New Task Unlocked

Objective: Capture the hearts of the trio's wives — Rekha, Sapna, and Nisha.

Reward: Personal Domain Access + 5,000 Points.

Alex's eyes narrowed, the flickering reflection of the letters dancing in them. He didn't flinch. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, intrigued.

Raagini watched him, confused. "What is it? What do you see?"

He glanced at her, lips curling into a slow, thoughtful smile. "It seems... my work here isn't over yet."

The glowing text pulsed once, then dissolved into the air, .

Raagini stepped closer, her curiosity tempered with unease. "what happened "

Alex turned away, pacing slowly toward the window. "It means," he said softly, "it seems more ghost are coming ."

Outside, the wind rose again, carrying with it the sound of engine approaching the mansion gates.

Raagini's translucent eyes widened. "other guests …"

Alex nodded, his expression unreadable. " yes i think most likely their wives Rekha , Sapna and Nisha. ."

"Raagini," he said, each word deliberate, "you must not be seen by their wives. Not for any reason. Hide yourself. If they find you—if Rekha, Sapna, or Nisha set eyes on you—everything collapses."

She watched him with unreadable eyes. "And the trio?" she asked.

Alex's jaw tightened. "They must be made to understand the stakes." He stepped closer, so close that the warmth from his body brushed the cold of her form. "Tell them—no one must know of you. If they betray us, if they tell a soul about you… they die. Make them understand the consequence. No hesitation. No mercy."

Raagini's lips curved—half a smile, half a snarl. "You would have me kill to keep them silent?"

"I would have you protect the plan," Alex corrected softly. "Not murder for pleasure. But do not be sentimental. Fear preserves obedience."

She considered him for a long moment, then inclined her head as if accepting both the weight and the logic of his words. "Very well. I will be the shadow behind the curtain. I will not speak to their wives. I will not be seen."

"And let the wives arrive first," he continued, his mind already running through possibilities. "Observe them. Learn them."

Thunder rolled in the distance, a low, hungry sound that made the old windows tremble. Outside, the sound of engine had grown louder, then died down again as if the world itself was drawing nearer to the mansion's edge.

"There may be other coming as well ," Alex said, his voice deliberate . "People who come with them , we will turn it to our advantage after observing them ."

Raagini's eyes shone with a strange light, hungry and amused. "You plan to act after observing all of them.

"Yes," Alex said simply. "But patience first. Let the wives come themselves. Let the men believe they are safe, caged by their own promises. We will pull the strings from behind the veil."

She laughed then, a sound like bells clinking in a deep well. It echoed once and faded. "Very well," she said. "I will be your invisible queen." Her voice dropped to a shade of silk.

He smiled without pleasure. "So is power."

They stood there, conspirators under a silvered sky, while beyond the window seeing the car stopped seeing this Alex look a ragini. And said "Hide, then ."

Raagini smile and then, as though swallowed by the darkness itself, she dissolved—no fanfare, no trace—leaving only the faint scent of jasmine and the whisper of silk.

Alone in the study, Alex seeing people coming out of car.
