Chapter 26 - 26: The Resurrection Cross, and the Thunder God Damon

Damon opened his Map Editor's Inventory System,

selecting ten basic items to equip: Boots of Haste, Cloak of Invisibility, Gauntlets of Power, Doran's Blade, and others.

The moment they were slotted in,

a strange power surged through his body—energy spreading into every limb.

Immediately, his status screen updated:

Attributes:

Strength: 170 (150 + 20)

Intelligence: 165 (150 + 15)

Agility: 180 (150 + 30)

Endurance: 160 (150 + 10)

Energy: 240 (150 + 90)

"Just as I thought," Damon murmured with a grin.

"The inventory doubles as an equipment slot. As long as I store special gear inside, I get permanent stat bonuses."

"And more than that…"

He clenched his fists—light flashed, and a pair of crimson metal gloves materialized around his hands.

A gray cloak shimmered into existence on his back.

Then, with a thought, he vanished completely—his body fading into transparency.

"Hahaha! I can even hide my equipped gear. That means I can treat every item in my inventory as either a passive buff or an active skill!"

"I get the bonuses and I can still wear physical armor on top of it."

He laughed out loud.

"Two words: Absolutely busted."

His mind raced.

If he could someday collect all Six Infinity Stones,

he wouldn't need to fear their backlash at all—

he could simply store them inside the inventory and harness their power freely,

absorbing their attributes without any side effects.

In other words—

the stronger the relics he gathered,

the stronger he himself would become.

"The only drawback," he noted, "is that inventory gear doesn't stack. No duplicates."

Then another thought struck him.

He unequipped one item and placed a small blue potion in the slot.

Instantly, he felt the link form—

with just a thought, his energy began to recover rapidly.

"Nice. Red and blue potions can restore health and mana instantly,

and I don't even have to take them out. I can also materialize them to heal others if I want."

Scrolling further through the system, Damon saw an entire catalog of powerful tools:

Resurrection Cross

Revival Coins

Mass Resurrection Scrolls

Substitute Puppets

And even more—unique character-exclusive artifacts.

Each was practically a divine relic, capable of amplifying the user's power immensely.

"Looks like I'll need to upgrade my golden finger's version again soon," Damon said, eyes gleaming.

"The more modules I unlock, the more godlike I become."

After finishing his testing, Damon finally released Yurenka, Madison, and the others from the Mirror Dimension.

Madison, cheeks flushed with excitement, immediately grabbed his arm.

"I want to learn that! That kind of power—absolute control—it's incredible!"

Even Yurenka's usually calm eyes were wide with awe.

"Father," she asked eagerly, "can I learn those spells too?"

Damon shook his head with a patient smile.

"One step at a time. Even if I teach you, your mana reserves aren't high enough yet to cast them."

Then, suddenly—

Veronica, who had been watching him with a strange look, swayed and went pale.

"Hm?" Damon caught her before she fell,

instantly casting Holy Light to stabilize her.

A bit of color returned to her cheeks,

but she was still weak.

"When Morgana fled," she murmured faintly,

"she cursed me with a form of black magic. Only the Heir of Merlin's Dragon Ring can undo it."

Damon frowned.

"The current Dragon Ring heir? He's barely started learning magic. Until today, he didn't even know the magical world existed."

"Even if I took you to him, he couldn't help."

Veronica's expression turned to despair.

Just as she began to whisper her final wishes—

Damon's voice changed.

"Actually, there is another way to save you."

"But it requires a… certain price."

"And you'll have to trust me completely."

Hope flickered back into her eyes.

"I do trust you. Tell me what I need to do."

Damon's smile deepened.

"You don't have to do anything."

"Just… relax and enjoy it."

With that cryptic line, he teleported all of them back home.

At that exact same moment—

WEE-OO! WEE-OO!

The sharp blare of alarms echoed through S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.

Nick Fury looked up, frowning.

No earthquakes. No explosions.

But on the far horizon—

a massive streak of lightning tore across the night sky,

so bright it turned night into day.

The light persisted for a long time before finally fading.

Fury had a bad feeling.

A knock came at his door.

Agent Hill entered briskly.

"Sir, you'll want to see this."

Fury followed her to the analysis room.

On the massive central display, a satellite feed showed a terrifying image—

lightning raging over a familiar skyline.

Stark Tower.

Fury scowled.

"Stark's not behind this one. This… feels bigger."

He didn't even have time to finish the thought when the zoomed-in feed updated—

and revealed a colossal thunder god,

a hundred meters tall, forged entirely of lightning arcs—

and beneath him, a gigantic Qilin, made of the same destructive energy.

Fury's single eye widened.

The resemblance was unmistakable.

"That… looks exactly like Damon."

"Don't tell me—he's the Thunder God?"

Agent Coulson stepped forward, face grim.

"Sir, I think that is the answer."

"If Damon hails from the East, it's possible he's a mythological Thunder Deity. That being could be his true form."

The entire control room fell silent.

They'd seen aliens, gods, monsters—

but this was different.

This was divine judgment made manifest.

Fury's expression hardened.

"Get me every mythological reference you can find—Eastern pantheons, thunder gods, celestial punishers… hell, even meteor deities."

"And update the database. Assign Damon the codename: THOR."

He pinched the bridge of his nose.

First the meteor event… now a thunder god appearing over New York.

If they didn't figure out who—or what—Damon truly was,

no one would sleep easy.

Because from what the satellite showed,

this "Thunder God" didn't smite randomly—

he punished evil.

A divine enforcer of heaven's will.

And that terrified the people who held power the most.

"If someone like him decides we're sinners…"

"There's nowhere to hide," Fury muttered.

From New York to Washington, it was only a few hundred miles.

And lightning traveled faster than thought.

The mental image made Fury's face darken even further.

Then—

BEEP! BEEP!

The alarms screamed again.

"Now what?" Fury barked.

An analyst's voice came through, panicked.

"Sir, we're detecting an abnormal thunderstorm in New Mexico—the energy readings are off the charts!"

"Even higher than the New York event!"

Fury froze.

New Mexico…

"Oh, hell no," he muttered.

"Don't tell me there's another one."
