Dr. Genus stared blankly at the gaping hole punched in the base. Outside, dusk had fallen. Orange light washed over him, lonelier still.
"Becoming this strong by training alone? Then what have I been doing?" Confusion swallowed him.
He felt like the ostracized youth again—but this time, even he doubted himself.
Then anger—boundless—erupted like a volcano. Why! Why should an ordinary mortal, using the most primitive, foolish method, touch the realm I've dreamed of?!
He clenched his fists. Nails bit deep into palms.
"Doctor…" A low voice came from behind.
Armored Gorilla, somehow still alive, looked at him—with a hint of pity. Genus wanted to scold him, but couldn't muster the strength.
After a long time, the fire in his chest cooled. His face went frighteningly calm. The mad scientist returned to the helm.
"Looks like I need a new research direction…"

"Teacher Saitama, Mr. KING." Genos bowed deeply. "Forgive the sudden visit."
He paused. His golden cyber-eye locked onto Saitama. "I wish to live at Sensei's home, to study his secret up close. May I…"
"Huh?" Saitama cut in, displeased. "No way. My place is small as it is. KING is over nearly every day…"
Genos produced a fat wad of cash. "I can pay rent and cover all utilities. I will not freeload."
"Ah? Ah! That so…" Saitama's voice shrank. His gaze wavered, fixed on the thick stack.
He counted on his fingers. That much would buy months of supermarket specials.
"Then… fine… Do you have a toothbrush and bedding?" he coughed, embarrassed.
"I'll buy them shortly. Please don't worry." Genos brightened.
"I will discover Sensei's secret of power…" he vowed. He clearly didn't buy the earlier regimen.
"Well… in that case, join us for dinner," Lin Mo said at the right moment, lifting the shopping bags with a smile. "We bought a lot. Hotpot tonight."
Genos bowed slightly. "Thank you for the hospitality."
