"That was the craziest night I've ever had," Bong-gu muttered between heavy breaths as he leaned against the side of the Hilux. "I swear, I almost died like ten times."
"When is this going to end?" Sumiko asked, still clinging tightly to Isabel. Her voice trembled as she looked toward the distant streets.
"Shh… it's okay. We're safe for now," Isabel reassured her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
The others slowly gathered around the vehicles, taking whatever chance they could to catch their breath. Their clothes were stained with blood, their weapons were nearly hot from constant firing, and several of them were still trembling from the adrenaline.
Jaxon wasn't much different. Even with his enhanced physical abilities, exhaustion was beginning to settle into his body. He jumped down from the roof of the military truck and looked over everyone. "Everyone alright?"
Hae-in, Jannah, Hiromi, and Claire gave tired nods. They looked exhausted, but at least they were unharmed.
