CHAPTER 42
~Xena's POV~
That night, Xade texted me the moment I got home.
Call time is 6 a.m. Tomorrow. First shoot begins at dawn. Be prepared.
There was no greeting or softness. Just instructions. I did not know what I expected from him, seeing as this was professional.
That alone further made me ignore the flutter in my stomach whenever I thought of him.
I stared at the message for a long second before replying with a simple Okay, then tossed my phone aside and sank onto the couch. My body felt heavy, not exhausted exactly, but off, like something was sitting wrong beneath my skin.
I brushed it aside. First-day nerves, I told myself. Nothing more.
By the time morning came, I was running on adrenaline and determination.
The set of Over the Stars was already alive when I arrived; lights were being adjusted, cameras gliding on tracks, crew members murmuring into headsets. The air buzzed with that unmistakable electricity of a first shoot.
