~Xade's POV~
Dad's words kept replacing in my mind. Not only did he decide something on the spot, but he also decided the timing.
What a joke.
I dabbed my lips clean and dropped the handkerchief near my plate.
"There will be a welcoming party," Dad added. "In honour of the Zane family's return after five years. You two will be announced."
That was enough.
I stood, the chair scraping against the tiled floor.
"I'm sorry," I said, keeping my tone controlled. "I have somewhere important to be."
"Xade," my father began, trying to keep his temper in check when I obeyed.
"I apologize, Mr. Zane," I said, turning to him. "This isn't something I agreed to."
I did not spare any other person another glance, and I walked out.

I had barely reached the living room when heels hurried after me. I groaned internally, knowing who it was. The last thing I wanted was to humiliate her by telling her off.
"Xade." I did not slow down and kept walking.
