~Author's POV~
"He was… cold. Colder than I expected."
There was a pause, not the sympathetic kind.
"No more complaints, Natasha," her father said flatly. "Xade is not a boy you win over by whining. Those years of him indulging you are gone."
"But Dad…" Her fingers curled around the phone. "He barely listens to me. He treats me like an inconvenience."
"Then make yourself impossible to ignore," Mr. Zane replied. "The ball is in your court now. His father has done his part. The rest is up to you."
Tasha's brows knit. "What do you mean?"
"I'm making arrangements for you to start working at his company," he said. "A proper role for close proximity and daily interaction."
Her breath hitched slightly.
"You'll be where he can see you," he continued. "Where he can't dismiss you so easily."
"And if he still resists?" she asked quietly.
