Viona's POV
I drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly while staring at the eight food boxes in front of me, caught in strange, mixed feelings of hunger and anger. I hadn't even had the chance to taste the creamy lobster with corn and cheese that would probably melt on my tongue.
Damn it.
Should I just pack all of this back up, go home, and eat it with my children instead?
My gaze swept across the row of church sisters seated around the long table. Most of them looked confused and couldn't meet my eyes. Except for three sisters standing near Clara Kleith. Those three had been the ones stirring things up from the beginning, constantly chiming in with comments that made my ears burn hotter with every word.
Did they think I was stupid?
Of course, I had done my research.
But Clara's message only came yesterday, and she deliberately asked me to bring kinds of high-quality dishes, while the other sisters only brought one box, maybe two at most.
It was a test.
