As Brand and Ruby went further into the ruin, there was the sound of water dripping. Each drop echoed softly against the stone floor, a rhythmic tap that seemed to calm his nerves, despite the ruin's gloom.
But the shadows still twisted.
What Brand saw through the beetle's vision was far from peace. A restless flicker of movement. A familiar scene.
"There was a giant gate… similar to the one we encountered before entering the ruin," Brand shared his observations with Ruby.
"Hmm… It's always fascinating to see you release the beetles." Ruby poked at the empty socket where his finger should be, and curiosity flickered in her eyes. "You can do it for all your fingers?"
"Actually, yes," he admitted, and his cheeks flushed. "I've only done it once before though."
"You remember the fight with Raml-d'ah? Four beetles hovered beside me." He shook his head at the memory.
