Brand and Ruby quietly sneaked through the foreboding gate, worried that some eerie presence might detect them. In fact, there was already something ahead.
A large cocoon, as clear as crystal, lay in the center of the chamber. Strands of silk wove through the ceiling, walls, and floor.
Each one connected to the cocoon, as if the chamber itself were some kind of… womb.
Brand glanced around the interior of the final chamber, admiring the intricate design of its walls and columns.
Floral motifs were etched into the chamber's linings, and even the floors were laid with delicate tiles.
Brand leaned close, placed his hand on the floor, and felt the texture of the tiles.
"Can we loot the chamber before doing the mission?" he joked. "Think about the money we could earn… antiques… from the demon realm!"
If Lena were here, maybe she'd agree with him. He started to miss the merchant in disguise and glanced at his missing finger. With that thought, he refocused on the task at hand.
