Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Son of the God King? Divine Words?

The whooshing of giant bat wings echoed in the air. Li Yu, a bolt of lightning, remained at the edge of the clouds, maintaining a not-too-far, not-too-close distance from the monster.

After flying for about an hour, the giant bat landed in a dense forest.

The zombies carried the girl, who had already fainted from extreme terror, on their shoulders and walked towards a low hill not far away.

They kept growling, as if communicating in some way.

Li Yu stood on the treetop, his gaze shifting slightly.

Watching these zombies communicate, had they evolved their own language?

Coupled with the extensive underground structures he had seen along the way,

Li Yu could roughly confirm that the Reincarnation Space he was in was likely "I Am Legend"!

The zombies in the "I Am Legend" world hated sunlight, possessed considerable intelligence, and could communicate simply with growls. All these characteristics matched the Night Demon Clan from his memories.

Everything aligned with the zombies of this world.

It was just unknown why the zombies of this world had evolved into a zombie race that could speak human language and possessed a complete civilization.

Looking around, Li Yu could even say that, apart from their terrifying and ugly appearance and their taste for flesh and blood, the zombies of this world...

Were no longer fundamentally different from humans; they were an independent civilization.

"Is there a way for me to understand what they're saying?"

Li Yu directly asked the Main God.

[You can spend 100 Credit Points to exchange for the language of this world's zombie race. Due to your status as a Hunter, the Reincarnation Space grants you the ability to communicate freely in all worlds.]

Countless characters flashed before Li Yu's eyes, and then he could understand what these few zombies were communicating in their tribal language.

"We only got one wild human. I wonder if it's enough for the King to enjoy."

"These days, wild humans are getting rarer and rarer. It's good that we managed to get one."

"Sigh, the taste of farmed and fattened humans can't compare to wild ones."

"Exactly. Farmed humans are force-grown in a few years, injected with all sorts of catalysts. Eating them is like chewing wax..."

"This woman smells good. I wonder what the King will reward us with this time."

"Just give me a beautiful woman..."

"Caw caw, you wimp? Even that thing of yours has rotted away, and you still want a beautiful woman?"

"..."

Are humans being farmed?

It seems the world's progress has degenerated to an irreversible state.

Seeing the cave below the hill, with its artificial entrances carved into the mountain, and zombies constantly coming and going,

Li Yu knew that this was likely an important gathering place for the zombies.

A slight smirk played on Li Yu's lips. "Then, let the hunt begin!"

His form transformed into a dazzling golden lightning bolt, tearing through the night sky and plummeting downwards!

Crack!

A thunderous roar exploded in the dense forest. The top of the hill was instantly split open by the lightning, leaving a huge gap, and gravel and soil poured down like a waterfall.

The ground trembled violently, and the distant trees shook incessantly.

A few zombies stared dumbfounded, not even noticing the girl on their shoulders falling to the ground.

"What happened? What fell into the King's palace?"

"Is it a meteor?"

"Doesn't quite seem like it. Why do I feel like it's a person?"

"What a joke. Can a weak race like humans achieve this? Even the strongest God Warriors among us, the God Clan, can't do this!"

...While they were arguing, Li Yu had already passed through the collapsed rock layers and plunged into the underground palace.

The sight before him made his pupils contract slightly. It was an extremely spacious hall, with chandeliers made of human bones hanging from the dome. The dim firelight illuminated the walls, making them resplendent.

Dried human skins hung on the walls, with bizarre symbols painted on them in dark red pigment.

Long tables filled the center of the hall, and on each table, a naked human was bound. Their skin was as pale as paper, and their eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.

They didn't react at all even when Li Yu broke in, as if their souls had long been drawn out.

"Intruder!"

With a sharp shriek, a large number of zombies in black armor poured in from the side doors. Their weapons included both cold weapons and firearms, clearly models once used by human armies.

The clicking of bullets being chambered rose and fell, and dark muzzles were uniformly aimed at Li Yu.

"Everyone, stop."

A deep growl sounded, and the zombie army lowered their guns and stood at attention, their movements so orderly they didn't seem like zombies.

Li Yu followed the sound and saw a zombie in a blood-red robe descending from a high platform at the end of the hall.

His crown was crafted from gold and skulls, and his robe was embroidered with dark red patterns, as if dyed with congealed blood.

Most surprisingly was his face; although his skin was still ashen, his features were complete, and apart from his long fangs, he was almost indistinguishable from a human.

The zombie wiped a trace of blood from the corner of his mouth with a napkin and sized up Li Yu with interest, his eyes gleaming with surprise and greed.

He was like the gourmet Hannibal, seeing a prized, top-tier ingredient.

"A human? Your physique is quite good. Your muscle density far surpasses those pigs in the farms. You look very delicious."

His articulation was clear and fluent, even carrying a hint of aristocratic cadence. If one didn't look at his appearance, he was no different from an ordinary person.

This zombie's intelligence was sufficient for effective communication.

"You're the one!"

Li Yu knew he was in the right place. He stared into the other's eyes, his voice as cold as ice.

"Are you the King here?"

The zombie spread his hands, completely unfazed by the mysterious human who had descended from the sky before him.

"I am Born Phillips, the King of the God Clan within a thousand miles. You may call me Prince Born! My grandfather is Arthur Phillips, who is the famous Arthur God-King!"

"The Creator God of the God Clan!"

Li Yu chuckled.

"If you were to die, would your grandfather come to save you?"

Prince Born covered his face with one hand, as if he had heard the biggest joke ever.

"Hahaha, human, you are very brave, but you may not quite understand what kind of existence the bloodline of Arthur God-King truly is!"

The zombie named Born pointed at Li Yu with one hand and shouted in the zombie language.

"Humans are forbidden to move here!"

Li Yu felt his body sink, as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on him, instantly giving him the oppressive feeling of being a hundred meters underwater.

But that was all. This restraint was even less than the weighted training he underwent during his Saint cultivation.

He once carried an iceberg hundreds of kilometers on foot at the bottom of the sea near Siberia!

However, the ability displayed by this zombie made him quite curious.

Prince Born leaned in, sniffing near Li Yu.

"This alluring scent of flesh and blood... It's rare to find such a pure human nowadays. I've decided, I'm going to keep you in a golden cage and cut off a piece of meat every day to slowly enjoy..."

Before he could finish speaking, his throat was suddenly seized by a cold hand!

Li Yu's fingers tightened slightly, and Born's neck bones let out a crisp snap.

The zombie's cloudy eyes widened in disbelief, the greed in them instantly replaced by terror.

"H-how is this possible... Why aren't you bound by the Divine Word Art?"

Li Yu did not answer, only increased the pressure on his hand.

With a sharp crack, Prince Born's head completely separated from his body and rolled to the ground.

The head tumbled a few times on the smooth floor tiles, finally stopping at Li Yu's feet.

Prince Born's gaze was fixed on Li Yu's face. The human man revealed a cold smile, his voice carrying an bone-chilling coldness.

"What kind of trash dares to call itself a god!"
