"Are you ready?" General Ross asked his subordinates, and his Deputy quickly replied.
"General, everything is ready. Our people are also ready."
"Good, signal that guy. Have him lead the Hulk to the designated location." General Ross waved his hand, and the Soldiers under him began to get busy again. The Hulk's appearance was within his expectations, though he didn't know why the Hulk hadn't shown up before, but it didn't matter. His goal was to capture the Hulk, and he didn't care about anything unrelated to that goal.
However, even if he only wanted to find trouble with the Hulk and didn't want to deal with anything else, trouble still found its way to him, come what may.
"Officer, our people found the Hulk near Columbia University, and he is now heading towards Broadway Street." A Military Officer from the National Guards appeared on the communication channel and began to report what they saw to General Ross.
"Soldier, are you joking with me? Or did you get the direction wrong? The Hulk just came out of Broadway Street, how could he be where you said?" General Ross didn't believe a bit of what this Officer said. Or rather, he was unwilling to believe his words.
You see, the Hulk was under his surveillance right now, and target number two had been taken away by Dawn Knight. Where else would he find another Hulk? He genuinely believed that this Officer must have lost his mind, because he simply didn't want to see another Hulk.
However, facts are destined and will absolutely not change because of his thoughts.
"Officer, who do you think my men are engaging with? I have footage here, we need support!" The Officer said, activating the transmission device on his helmet, which was standard U.S. Military individual equipment, capable of real-time monitoring and analysis of the current situation encountered by Soldiers.
And when he transmitted the footage to General Ross, the old man fell silent.
Before his eyes, a green giant was wantonly destroying everything in front of him, with destroyed vehicles and public facilities everywhere. Soldiers were firing frantically, but the bullets only splashed sporadic sparks on his body, as if he were wearing armor.
Seeing this, General Ross knew that this guy was definitely not the Hulk. He had dealt with the Hulk for many years and was very clear about the Hulk's abilities. Bullets hitting the Hulk would not produce such sparks, because his muscles would cause the bullets to lose kinetic energy but not ricochet. So this giant was definitely not the Hulk. And realizing this, General Ross found that things were starting to develop in the worst direction, and the foolproof plan in his eyes had become fragmented due to this sudden variable.
However, he still wanted to make one last effort, no matter the outcome, he had to try.
"Soldier, I'm giving you a mission. A mission you must complete!" General Ross began to issue a dangerous mission to this Officer. A mission that could lead to utter destruction if one was not careful. He understood how dangerous this mission was, but an order was an order, and he only demanded results. No matter what, this group of Soldiers had to complete this order.
Of course, this mission was not a certain death mission; there was still a glimmer of hope, provided they could make it in time.
"As long as they can make it in time!" General Ross muttered to himself, beginning to pin his hopes on vague luck.
"I must have stepped on something dirty when I left the house today." Spider-Man ran wildly towards Times Square. He had just received a tip from the U.S. Military, telling him to lead the Hulk in that direction. Based on the principle of being a good citizen, Spider-Man chose to trust these Soldiers. So he tried every means to attract the Hulk, keeping him right behind him.
The enraged Hulk indeed followed him, but he was very unfriendly. The Hulk chased Spider-Man, casually picking up anything and throwing it at Spider-Man's head. These things included trash cans, phone booths, and even cars.
To the Hulk, these were trifles. But to Spider-Man, he didn't want to be hit by any of them. Fortunately, his Spider-Sense always saved his life at critical moments, otherwise, just these projectiles flying everywhere would have made him collapse halfway.
"I say, put me down." In Spider-Man's arms, Betty, who had gradually recovered, spoke indistinctly. Although she spoke softly, Spider-Man still heard her clearly. And when he heard her, he immediately began to shake his head.
"Madam, I don't know what setbacks you've encountered. But you have to believe that Life is beautiful, and the World is lovely. Even if you're looking for death, you don't have to choose this way to die. I, for one, think jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge is better than being flattened into a pancake. Of course, please don't jump off a bridge in front of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man of New York City, because I will definitely save you."
Listening to Spider-Man's nonsensical ramblings, Betty began to understand why the Hulk was so angry. You see, this guy hadn't stopped his verbal assault on the Hulk the entire way. Just imagining it, one could guess what kind of mental torment the Hulk had endured.
"He's my boyfriend, he wouldn't hurt me," Betty explained with difficulty, but in Spider-Man's wavelength, it was immediately understood to mean something else.
"Wow, Beauty and the Beast? If I may be frank, this big guy behind you isn't very good. I think King Kong might be a bit more suitable."
Spider-Man was still running his mouth, and this time, the Hulk's roar answered him, along with an entire bus thrown over. It was clear that the Hulk was very angry.
"Alright, I misspoke. You're a bit more handsome than King Kong. Because you're much smoother than him, and you're wearing pants!"
This time the effect was quite good, because the Hulk finally didn't throw things randomly. Spider-Man had just let out a sigh of relief when he heard a loud crash. He turned his head and saw the Hulk take a huge leap, directly blocking his path. Then, with a massive fist, he swung it towards him.
This time, even Spider-Sense couldn't save him. Because his speed was a bit too much to control, even if he had already reacted, inertia still made him rush towards the Hulk. In a panic, he could only close his eyes and shout loudly.
"Stop, I have a hostage!" This shout indeed produced a miraculous effect. The Hulk's face instantly changed color, and he quickly stopped his actions. But it was clear that the consequence of not thinking earlier was that he also couldn't stop himself completely.
At this moment, Spider-Man desperately pushed Betty. Both of them narrowly avoided the blow. And seeing that this punch was ultimately a false alarm, both Spider-Man and the Hulk breathed a sigh of relief. And then, Spider-Man did another suicidal thing.
He splattered the Hulk's face with webbing again, then turned and ran.
Imagine how anyone would feel after being splattered in the face twice by the same person with the same thing. Some people might keep their composure, but that definitely did not include the Hulk.
He tore off the webbing from his face, whispered "Get out of the way!" to Betty, then took a huge leap, flying hundreds of meters, and once again got behind Spider-Man. It was clear that he really wanted to crush this annoying little bug.
Spider-Man ran and ran desperately, finally arriving in front of Times Square. Looking at the square not far away, he was physically and mentally exhausted. In fact, he really hadn't expected to fight for his Life to such an extent. Thinking about the Hulk's terror, he felt his legs turn to jelly. This kind of monster, it shouldn't be his turn to deal with it.
And just as he squatted on a lamppost, preparing to watch the Military take over and deal with the Hulk, a Shadow landed in front of him with a heavy thud. This time, the Hulk's jump was exceptionally accurate, because he landed directly in front of the lamppost Spider-Man was squatting on.
The huge Impact and vibration instantly turned the lamppost into a constantly shaking mast. Spider-Man swayed back and forth on it, almost being flung off. And when he finally managed to steady himself, he realized things were serious.
The Hulk had already grasped the lamppost in his hand, and a massive green face was directly in front of Spider-Man, with less than a meter between them.
"Hey, how are you? Looking this close, I just realized your skin is really good. Not a single pimple. What brand of facial cleanser do you use?!" Spider-Man chuckled twice, trying to lighten the mood, hoping to get the Hulk to let him go. But he found that it didn't seem to work.
The Hulk still stared at him with a scowl, his green eyes filled with raging Fire. He ground his teeth and made this sound.
"Little bug, must die!"
How could Spider-Man just surrender? To survive, he quickly exposed his wrist. A blob of webbing immediately shot out limply, sticking to the Hulk's face.
"Uh, seems like I ran out. If you don't mind, maybe I can try another one!"
The Hulk ground his teeth and raised his massive hand. And just then, a Military vehicle suddenly flew over, crashed into the building next to them, and turned into a large fireball.
The Hulk was Divided Soul by this, and Spider-Man immediately jumped out. Seeing this, the Hulk immediately let out a roar. And at the moment he roared, another roar, like hot wind wrapped in fierce Fire, also came out.
Immediately after, the wall in front of the Hulk was violently smashed open, and an equally massive body rushed out of the swirling dust, crashing into the Hulk's embrace like a cannonball. Then, it suddenly erupted with a sound like an oversized drum being beaten in one's ear; that Impact actually produced a deafening effect.
And that wasn't all; a wave of Qi formed an Impact, shooting out from where the two giant figures collided, directly sending Spider-Man, who was still in mid-air, flying backward to crash solidly against a wall.
It made him wince in pain, but Spider-Man was still a superhuman after all. This blow wouldn't do him in. But even if it did, he wouldn't have the courage to seek revenge on the culprit.
Because in front of him were two giants entangled, fiercely clashing with punches and kicks. Watching their mere fist and foot collisions generate explosive Impact, Spider-Man felt both lucky and immensely proud. The Hulk was so powerful, so if I lasted this long against him, wouldn't I be amazing?
He was a person with extremely good psychological fortitude, as it seemed at the moment. This was truly for the best.
