Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Fangs of Freedom.

Chapter 3: Volkaris Vanguard: The Fangs of Freedom.

Act 1

[Scene 1: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: House of Ignis - Evening]

(The Vanguards have finished their meal. Theron Ignis, the Grandmaster of Flames and Master of Blue Flames, calls his son, Kael Ignis, for a private conversation.)

Theron: Kael.

Kael: Yes, father?

Theron: You've made allies along the way. I know you enjoy a good fight, but I didn't expect the Felithria tournament to have a necromancer hiding in the shadows. I'm glad you made it out unharmed.

Kael: (nods) Thanks, father.

Theron: That girl... Zyra Swiftfang, is it?

Kael: Yes. She's one of us now.

Theron: So, it's a team?

Kael: (smirks) Yeah. We call ourselves the Volkaris Vanguard. Our mission is to protect Volkaris from necromancer threats.

(Valtara, Kael's mother and Theron's wife, enters the room.)

Valtara: Theron, honey, someone wants to speak with you.

Theron: (nods, then looks at Kael) I have to go.

Kael: Alright.

[Scene 2: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: Small House - Night]

(In a small house within Elementia, Zyra Swiftfang, a Kitna warrior and member of the Volkaris Vanguard, rests. Suddenly, she wakes up, sensing danger.)

Zyra: (thoughts) I feel like I'm being watched... (sniffs the air) No way... it's her. Lunya.

(Suddenly, both the front and back doors are smashed open. Lunya and her men step inside.)

Zyra: (springs to her feet) What the-?! Lunya! What are you doing here!?

Lunya: The coach wants to see you. You come willingly... or we drag you there by force.

Zyra: (glares) You're not taking me anywhere!

(A fierce battle breaks out - three against one. Zyra fights against Lunya and her men.)

[Scene 3: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: House of Lyrien Flynn - Night]

(Lyrien Flynn, another member of the Volkaris Vanguard and the strongest Raven in Flambrise, wakes up abruptly. His instincts scream danger.)

Lyrien: (sits up, alert) Something's wrong... (pauses) Zyra!

(Without hesitation, he grabs his blades and dashes out into the night.)

[Scene 4: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: Forest - Night]

(Lyrien sprints through the dark forest, hoping to reach Zyra's cabin in time.)

Lyrien: (panting) I have to make it...! Come on, legs, don't fail me now!

[Scene 5: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: Small House - Night]

(Lyrien finally reaches Zyra's cabin-but it's too late. The house is in shambles, and Zyra is gone.)

Lyrien: (thoughts) Damn it... I was too late.

Act 2

[Scene 1: Elementia - Flambrise Territory: Zyra's Cabin - Day]

(Kael Ignis and Lyrien Flynn investigate the abandoned cabin. The place is in disarray-broken furniture, claw marks on the walls, and a torn piece of a coat left behind.)

Kael: (holding the torn fabric) Lyrien, what do you sense?

Lyrien: (eyes narrowing) There's danger... but not from necromancers or the undead. It's familiar-like the energy I felt before Tharvos could transform during the tournament. It's from the Kitnas.

Kael: (clenches fist) Then we have our answer. Zyra was taken by her own kind.

Lyrien: (nods) That means Felithria Jungle.

Kael: (thoughts) Hold on, Zyra. We're coming.

[Scene 2: Felithria - Unknown Location - Day]

(Zyra is bound in chains, her body bruised but her spirit unbroken. She is inside a rundown hideout, face to face with her former coach. Lunya stands beside him, unable to meet Zyra's gaze.)

Lunya: (grinning) Hey, Coach! Look what we got. Zyra.

Coach: (turns around) Zyra. (voice darkens) Where have you been? Where's the money?

Zyra: (breathing heavily) I... I don't have it.

Coach: (slams his fist on the table) You WHAT?! You won against Tharvos! That prize money should've been ours!

Zyra: (glares) Yours? You never cared about me or any of the Kitnas you raised! It was never about us-only about your greed!

Coach: (scoffs) You think I don't know how hard it is?

Zyra: You don't know a damn thing. You think you're strong? Then fight me! I'm the champion of every tournament you sent me to, and still, you only cared about the money!

Coach: (grins) Very well, then.

(Zyra lunges at her coach, fueled by anger. The fight is brutal-she lands a few strikes, but he's stronger. Eventually, he overpowers her and throws her to the ground.)

Coach: (laughs) You see?! You can't beat me!

Zyra: (panting) Then why use me?! If you're so strong, why don't you earn the money yourself?!

Coach: (grins darkly) Because male Kitnas love watching female Kitnas fight. You're a fighter, fit, and a looker. The more eyes on you, the more money I make.

Zyra: (voice trembling) ...So I was just a tool to you.

Coach: (coldly) Lock her in the cage.

Lunya: (hesitates) ...Yes, Coach.

(Zyra is thrown into a cage. Lunya lingers outside, tears welling in her eyes.)

Lunya: (whispering) Zyra... I'm sorry. I'm powerless against him. I couldn't save you... We were friends once, but now... I...

Zyra: (softly) Lunya... crying won't change anything. It's hopeless.

Lunya: (sniffles) But-

Zyra: STOP. Leave me. I know it's hopeless... but someday, we will be free.

(Lunya turns away, silent.)

[Scene 3: Felithria - Marketplace - Noon]

(Kael and Lyrien move through the crowded marketplace. Stalls line the streets, filled with merchants selling food, weapons, and rare trinkets. As they search for clues, a familiar voice calls out.)

Akirra: (cheerfully) Kael! Lyrien!

Kael: (turns) Oh, Akirra.

Akirra: (grinning) Thanks for bringing me home yesterday! I won't forget!

Lyrien: It was nothing. But we're on a mission now.

Akirra: (excited) Ooooh! Can I join?!

Kael: Ah-no. It's too dangerous. Go back to your parents.

Akirra: (pouts) Hmph! Meany! But fine... I'll go home.

Kael: (chuckles) Alright. See you!

(Akirra leaves, and Lyrien suddenly stops, sniffing the air.)

Lyrien: (thoughts) Wait... this scent... I've smelled it before.

Kael: (raising an eyebrow) What is it now?

Lyrien: (focused, whispering) His scent is strongest near that food stall. Sit down, act natural, and let's grab a bite while I pinpoint his exact coat color.

Kael: (smirking, sitting down) Always looking for an excuse to eat, aren't you?

Lyrien: ...

Kael: (groaning) Alright! Let's eat.

(They sit at a food stall, eating roasted meat and fresh bread.)

Kael: (to the owner) How much?

Owner: 10 gold nuggets.

Kael: (hands over the payment)

(As they eat, Lyrien's senses go on high alert. His eyes land on a male Kitna wearing a coat-the same type as the torn fabric from Zyra's cabin.)

Lyrien: (thoughts) No mistake... same scratch, same scent... it's him.

(He suddenly stands up and shouts across the marketplace.)

Lyrien: HEY, YOU!

Mysterious Kitna: (startled) W-What?!

Kael: (surprised) Lyrien, what's going on?!

Lyrien: It's him. The one who kidnapped Zyra!

(The Kitna's eyes widen in panic-then he suddenly turns and runs.)

Lyrien: HEY! DON'T RUN!

(Lyrien chases after him, shouting things like "Come here!", "Stop running!", and "You're not getting away!" Meanwhile, Kael is forced to chase after Lyrien, trying to calm him down.)

Kael: (frustrated) Lyrien, STOP SCREAMING!

(The chase continues through the market, knocking over crates and startling merchants.)

[Scene 4: Felithria - Dead End - Noon]

(The mysterious Kitna reaches a dead end in an alley. He turns, trapped, as Lyrien and Kael corner him.)

Lyrien: (grabbing him by the collar) Alright, you-TALK.

Mysterious Kitna: (panting) A-Alright! I'll talk!

Kael: Lyrien, calm down.

Lyrien: (growling) Where is Zyra?!

Mysterious Kitna: (nervous) She's in the north! A big mountain... there's a bunker inside it! Please, just-don't hurt me! Save my friend too... we were all just tools to them.

Kael: (processing) A mountain to the north...?

Lyrien: A hidden bunker... (looks at the Kitna) Hey, you.

Mysterious Kitna: (freezes) W-What?

Lyrien: We don't know where this bunker is. Lead us there. We'll save Zyra-and your friend.

Mysterious Kitna: (hesitates) I... I could be killed if they catch me.

Kael: (firmly) Whatever happens, we'll protect you.

Mysterious Kitna: (eyes widen) ...Thank you.

(The mysterious Kitna nods and begins leading them north-to the mountain where Zyra is held captive.)

Act 3

[Scene 1: Felithria - Northern Mountain - Outside - Afternoon]

(Kael and Lyrien follow the Mysterious Kitna up the rugged mountain path. The air is thick with tension as they approach a hidden bunker entrance.)

Mysterious Kitna: (whispers) This way.

(Suddenly, a group of Kitna guards steps out of the shadows, weapons drawn.)

Guard: (eyes narrowing) Riven?! What are you doing?!

Mysterious Kitna (Riven): (firmly) I'm done taking orders. We all are. The coach has abused us for too long. These warriors are here to save us!

Guard: (hesitant) No... We can't.

Riven: (pleading) He's been using us! You know it! How many of our own have we lost just to fill his pockets?!

Guard: (voice shaking) Y-You know how terrifying he is!

Riven: (angry) He killed your friend! And you're still afraid of him?!

(The guards glance at each other, uncertain.)

Guard Leader: (coldly) Enough. If we let them in, we'll be the ones in those cages next. We stop them here, traitor included! Attack!

(The guards charge at Kael, Lyrien, and Riven.)

Lyrien: (panicked) Oh, come on!

Kael: Lyrien! No lethal blows, just knock them out!

Lyrien: (grinning) Right. Just... "put them to sleep."

(An intense fight erupts. Kael and Lyrien dodge strikes and counterattack with precision, knocking the guards out one by one. Riven fights alongside them, his movements fierce yet desperate.)

(After a brutal skirmish, the last guard falls unconscious.)

Kael: (catching his breath) Alright... That's all of them. (turns to Riven) Riven, right?

Riven: (nods) Yes.

Kael: (determined) Take us to the coach.

Riven: (grimly) Follow me.

[Scene 2: Felithria - Inside the Bunker - Hallway - Afternoon]

(The narrow halls of the bunker echo with the sounds of footsteps. Kael and Lyrien follow Riven, their senses sharp.)

(Suddenly, a towering Kitna warrior steps into their path-his presence alone radiating menace.)

Kitna Warrior: (smirking) I'm not letting you near the coach.

Riven: (gritted teeth) Vexis...

Lyrien: (cracking his knuckles) Kael, Riven, go. I'll handle this.

Kael: (hesitant) You sure?

Lyrien: (grins) Trust me.

(Lyrien launches himself forward with a burst of fire, slamming into Vexis.)

Vexis: (staggering) Ugh-!

Lyrien: (yelling) GO!

(Kael and Riven exchange a glance before sprinting past the fight, deeper into the bunker.)

[Scene 3: Felithria - Bunker Gym - Afternoon]

(Kael and Riven enter a vast gym-like training room. At the center stands a massive, battle-hardened Kitna, his arms crossed, his gaze piercing.)

Kael: (calm yet burning with anger) ...Where is Zyra?

Coach: (smirks) If you want her, fight me.

Kael: (turns to Riven) Go find her.

Riven: (nods) On it.

(Riven dashes away. Seconds later, Kael erupts forward, flames surging around him, launching a fiery assault at the coach.)

(The fight is brutal, Kael lands fast, precise strikes, but the coach barely flinches, his sheer brute strength overwhelming Kael.)

Kael: (gritted teeth) He fights better than a necromancer...!

(The coach suddenly roars, grabbing Kael mid-attack and slamming him into the floor.)

Coach: (laughing) Huuaaah! Is that all, Volkaris Vanguard?!

(Kael groans, struggling to rise. The coach prepares to strike again-until a figure stumbles into the doorway and collapses.)

(Vexis. Defeated.)

(Lyrien enters, breathing heavily, fire still flickering around his fists.)

Lyrien: (grinning) Kael... Need a hand?

Kael: (smirks) Took you long enough.

Coach: (chuckling) Two against one?

Kael: (eyes burning) Never underestimate the Volkaris Vanguard!

(The final battle begins, Kael and Lyrien against the coach, flames clashing against raw power.)

[Scene 4: Felithria - Bunker: Cage Room - Afternoon]

(Riven steps into a dark, damp room filled with cages. His eyes scan the cells, until they land on a familiar face.)

Riven: Zyra!

Zyra: (blinking) Riven?

Riven: (urgent) I'm here with Kael and Lyrien. Where's the key?

(A figure steps from the shadows, Lunya. She tosses a key to Riven.)

Lunya: (softly) Here. Take it. If I die for this, so be it.

Riven: (surprised) ...Thank you.

(He unlocks Zyra's cage. She steps out, rolling her shoulders.)

Zyra: (grinning) 'Bout time.

(Riven glances around, searching for another cell. His eyes widen in horror as he sees a lifeless body inside.)

Riven: (whispering) No... No...

Lunya: (somberly) He's been here too long.

Riven: (clenching his fists) Why...

Zyra: (urgent) We need to go!

(Riven doesn't respond. His hands tremble, staring at his fallen friend.)

Zyra: (gritted teeth) Hey!

Lunya: (gently) Let him be.

(Zyra hesitates, then turns and runs. Lunya follows. Riven remains, paralyzed in grief.)

[Scene 5: Felithria - Bunker Gym - Afternoon]

(The gym lies in ruins, broken beams, shattered stone, and embers flickering from the wreckage. Lyrien Flynn is unconscious, motionless on the floor. Kael Ignis, barely able to stand, grips his last remaining blade. His breaths come in ragged gasps, his energy nearly spent.)

Coach: (burned fur and scorched skin, his eyes filled with fury) You're finished. (raises his claws, ready to strike) I'll tear you apart.

(With a sudden lunge, the Coach drives his claws into Kael's stomach.)

Kael: (grits his teeth, a choked gasp of pain escapes him)

Coach: (leans in, his voice a low growl) You actually thought you could defeat me? (glances at Lyrien's unconscious body) Your friend won't last much longer. But I'll make sure you go first.

(Kael, trembling, lifts his blade.)

Coach: (narrows his eyes) What do you think you're doing?

(Kael's grip tightens, then, with a flicker of determination, he ignites his blade. Flames dance along the steel, casting a fiery glow across his face.)

Kael: (mustering his strength, he swings the blade in a desperate strike) Ember!!!

(The blade slices across the Coach's eye. He roars in agony, staggering backward, releasing Kael from his grasp.)

Coach: (clutching his wounded eye, snarling in pain)

(Kael collapses, his vision blurring as unconsciousness takes hold.)

Coach: (panting, rage boiling over) I'll kill you all!!!

(Just as the Coach prepares to finish them off, footsteps and voices echo from outside. His ears twitch, Zyra and Lunya are approaching fast. Injured and knowing he can't take them both in his current state, he curses under his breath before retreating into the shadows.)

Zyra: (rushing in) Kael! Lyrien!

(She skids to a halt, eyes widening as she sees them lying motionless amidst the destruction.)

Zyra: (kneeling beside them, voice urgent) Stay with me...

(The scene fades, tension hanging heavy in the air.)

[Scene 6: Flambrise - Infirmary, Night]

(Kael wakes up slowly, groaning as pain shoots through his body. His vision clears. A girl with silver hair and a firm, watchful gaze sits beside him. It's Lunya.)

Kael (groaning, voice hoarse): Where… am I?

Lunya (relieved, but guarded): You're alive. That's what matters. I dragged you, and your friend out before the authorities arrived, and Zyra is fine.

Kael (blinking, trying to sit up): Authorities…?

Lunya (nodding): I called them. The truth finally came out—his real name is Draeven "Bloodclaw" Varros.

Kael (eyes narrowing): You never knew his name?

Lunya (quietly, bitter): None of us did. Not really. The authorities and I only uncovered it after they raided his records.

(Kael listens as Lunya's voice grows colder. Her expression hardens, shadows from the lantern's fire flickering across her face.)

Lunya (arms wrapped around her knees): He was once Felithria's greatest fighter. But he wanted more—more glory, more power, more control. He started with tournaments… then the underground matches… then adoption.

(Flashbacks show Draeven in dim arenas, glaring at young Kitnas bruised and broken. Papers with names and "fight earnings." A cage. Chains. The glint of red eyes in the dark.)

Lunya (grim): At first, he trained us. Said it was to help us "survive." But when we got hurt—or disobeyed—we became property. Broken things.

Then he stopped adopting. He started stealing. Killed parents. Took children. Shaped them from infancy. We weren't daughters to him—we were weapons.

(Kael remains silent, his fists clenched.)

Kael (voice low): And Zyra?

Lunya (softly): She was one of his favorites. That's why she was pushed the hardest. But she fought back. That's why I saved her.

(A heavy pause. Then—)

Lunya (looking away): …Your friend is still unconscious. He hasn't woken up since the fight.

Kael (freezes): What?

Lunya (soft but firm): He took a blow in the head. The healers did everything they could, but… he's in a coma.

(Kael stares at the fire. The weight sinks in. His face twists with guilt.)

Kael (voice cracking, fists trembling): I should've been faster… I should've protected him… He trusted me to lead us.

Lunya (quiet): He knew the risks, Kael. We all did.

Kael (tears in his eyes, whispering): He was more than just a Raven… he was my brother.

(Lunya says nothing—just lets the silence hold. Then, Kael wipes his eyes and forces himself to sit upright.)

Kael (resolute): I won't let his sacrifice be in vain. If there's even a chance he can wake up… I'll make sure this world is worth waking up to.

Lunya (soft smile, voice gentle): Then fight for it, Kael.

[Scene 7: Felithria - Deep in the Jungle - Night]

(Riven silently buries his fallen friend, grief etched into his face. He stands there, alone, sorrow consuming him.)
