Kael then pulled his sword as the spear-wielder goblin lunged forward.
Afterwards, Kael gave a quick snap kick at its knee, crushing it as the cartilage popped out. In the same motion, Kael reversed his grip with his sword, and stabbed his sword at its temple, piercing its head through and instantly killing it.
Three down in just a few seconds.
A thin goblin leapt from a picnic table, twin daggers glinting with the sunlight. Kael dashed up the table after it—one, two, three steps up the slanted surface, meeting the creature in mid-air.
Kael stopped the goblin's attack as he quickly grabbed both of his wrists. He then head-butted the goblin full in the face, cracking its skull.
'It's been a while since I haven't head-butted someone like this.' Kael smiled wickedly, and shook his head as he thought to himself. 'Why did I use this move when I'm not even in a desperate situation?'
Looking at the goblin who fell on the grass and tried to roll away, Kael noticed a metal thermos that was probably left by someone and instantly kicked it. The thermos shot forward like a cannonball, caving the goblin's temple and killing it instantly.
He then used his [Heal] skill, patching up the cut across his eyebrow where an arrow had skimmed him as the fight hadn't ended yet.
Three archers knelt by the duck pond, strings thrumming. When Kael saw flashing arrowheads, he threw himself behind an iron park bench.
Thunk!
Thunk!
Thunk!
Arrows pierced the wood, brushing his cheek.
With a grunt, he shouldered the entire bench, uprooting it from the wet soil and spinning like a cakram thrower, throwing it at them.
The bench cartwheeled in the air. Two of the archers immediately dived, dodging the iron bench while the third one was a heartbeat slow, resulting in an iron leg impaling its torso and nailing it to the ground.
Kael blurred in the distance. One of the archers tried to scurry upright, but it was too late as Kael's blade slashed through its body, slashing it into two as Kael slashed diagonally.
As Kael charged towards the last archer, it managed to launch a desperate shot. Kael leaned sideways, the arrow barely slicing his sleeve. He then grabbed the bow, not letting it go before stabbing his sword at the goblin's throat in one clean motion, instantly killing the last archer.
Clang after clang rang behind him and Kael noticed that one of his undead Goblin Captains was severely injured while Fenric wasn't that good either. Kael immediately used his [Heal] skill on them, instantly healing them.
As Kael used his [Heal] skill, four goblins closed in on all sides. They each wielded a cleaver, a machete, a curved scimitar, and a crude warpick.
Looking at them, Kael tapped the ground with his toes twice before exploding upward with a vertical leap.
The four weapons swished under the empty air. As gravity dragged him down, Kael planted his sword tip in the ground, using it as a pivot, and scissored his legs outward.
His left boot heel cracked the scimitar wielder's skull. Right heel stomped onto the warpick haft, driving it downward so its spike slammed into its owner's foot. Screams followed along.
In a vicious parry using pure strength, Kael turned and snapped the edge of the cleaver in half, ripping the sword free as he landed.
Shards flew as the steel broke. The machete goblin's eye was punctured by one shard. The shrewd goblin gazed at its blade stub before Kael's follow-through split its body in half, from shoulder to hip.
The machete goblin dropped, gripping its eye. Kael put a thrust through the heart to end it.
Still pinned by its own weapon, the Warpick goblin attempted to break free. Kael spinned around and ended its life by separating its head from the body as Kael slashed a horizontal slash with a swift motion.
Now that the field parted, the biggest of the twenty goblins stored forward. A brute in a scavenged plate, wielding a two-handed great-hammer longer than Kael.
It roared, bringing the hammer down in an overhead smash meant to pulp stone.
Kael sprinted straight toward it.
Just before impact he threw himself into a baseball slide. The hammer slammed the turf behind him, creating a fountain of dirt. While sliding, Kael used a reverse stab to cut both of the brute's Achilles tendons.
The goblin toppled. Kael popped to his feet behind it, vaulted onto its broad back, and thrust his sword through the gap between breastplate and neck—straight into the spine.
He then twisted his sword, before pulling it out and slashed his sword to the side, cleaning the blade from the blood.
Sigh!
'I think too highly of these stupid goblins.' Kael sighed and thought to himself as the goblins weren't attacking him at once.
He was used to people ganging up on him all at once, so when he saw 20 goblins with their eyes on him, his initial reaction was that it would be a difficult fight because he hadn't entirely adapted to his current power and might even have made some blunders that could result in an injury.
As Kael had killed more than half of them, the goblins started to fear and regroup.
Kael only glanced and let them regrouped since he felt that he hadn't warmed up yet.
They fanned out like hunting dogs as two sabers on the flanks, a spear and shield pair in front, a short-bow user scrambling up a fountain ledge, and three axe-wielders barreling straight down the middle. Their war-cries overlapped into one ragged howl.
Kael's pulse spiked, but his lips curled.
'That's more like it.'
