As Alpha Damien and Adeline walked away from the gathering, the tension between Alpha Evans and Alpha Damien was palpable. Adeline couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her as she left the oppressive atmosphere of Alpha Evans pack behind.
"We'll head back to our pack," Alpha Damien said, his voice gentle. "You can rest and get settled." Adeline nodded, still trying to process the events of the past few hours.
As they drove on, getting to Emberstone pack Adeline noticed the way the other pack members looked at Alpha Damien with respect and admiration. "Why did you decide to stand for me, you even accepted to take me in?" she asked breaking the silence.
Alpha Damien's expression turned thoughtful. "I saw something in you," he said. "A spark of strength and resilience. I want to help you learn about yourself and also find your place in the pack."
Adeline felt a surge of gratitude towards him. "Thank you" she said, her voice sincere. "I don't know what I would have done if you haven't intervened back there."
Alpha Damien smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You're safe now" he said. "You're under my protection."
As they approached the packs territory, Adeline saw that it was a beautiful and thriving community. There were children playing in the distance, and the sound of laughter and music filled the air. The packs territory was surrounded by tall trees and a bobbling brook, creating a sense of of seclusion and peace.
"Welcome to our pack," Alpha Damien said, smiling. "I hope you'll find a home here." Adeline smiled back, feeling a sense of hope that she hadn't felt in a long time. Maybe, just maybe, she had finally found a place where she belonged.
Alpha Damien turned and stared at her, a smile on his face. " if you have any questions about the pack, you can ask now." Adeline startled, looking up to see him smiling at her, and tried to hide her blush. "Well, I don't really know anything about this pack or even any other pack . It would be nice if you could tell me about your pack."
Alpha Damien's eyes glinted playful as he stared at her. "I actually feel hurt. I thought you'd be asking me questions about myself." Adeline looked at Alpha Damien, trying to hide how he made her feel, and was taken aback by his playfulness.
"Oh, I…I suppose I could ask you about yourself too," she said, trying you sound casual.
Alpha Damien chuckled. "I think that's a great idea," he said. "Let's start with something simple. What do you want to know about me?"
Adeline thought for a moment, her mind racing with questions. "What's your favorite thing about being Alpha?" She asked finally.
Alpha Damien's smile grew wider. "I think it's the sense of responsibility," he said. "I want to make sure that everyone in the pack is safe and happy. It's a big job, but it's something that has ran in my family for a long time. Now it's my turn I want to make it worth it."
Adeline nodded, feeling a sense of admiration for the man in front of her. "I can see why," she said. "You seem like a good leader."
As they walked through the packs territory, Adeline saw pack members going about their daily business. Some were training, while others were walking and discussing in groups or even tending to the packs gardens. She saw a group of children playing with a ball, laughing and shouting with joy. Adeline smiled, feeling a sense of belonging that she hadn't felt in a long time.
The pack's headquarters was a large, rustic building with a wooden exterior and a warm, inviting interior. Adeline could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting from the kitchen and her stomach growled with hunger.
As they approached the packs headquarters, Lyra a trusted member and seer of Alpha Damien's pack, was waiting for them. " Alpha," she said, her voice low.
Alpha Damien's eyes narrowed slightly, and he turned to Adeline. "Enough for today. My assistant, Eli will show you to your quarters. You can get rest and get settled . We'll talk more later."
