Chapter 7 - The Truth Revealed

Alpha Damien turned to Adeline, his eyes searching for answers. " What's going on, Adeline? Why did Alpha Evans lock you up ?

Adeline took a deep breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "My parents were dragging me out of the house when Alpha Evans guards found me. They said I was …. diffferent, flawed unlike the others. They've been keeping me locked up ever since."

Alpha Laura stepped forward, her eyes fixed on Alpha Evans. "I see, so Alpha Evans the only way to help this young lady was keeping her locked up"

Alphas Evans already burning with anger, forced a smile. "Like I said I was trying to help her. She's… abnormal, different . I wanted to get to the root of the problem before revealing it to the pack. Her abnormalities could affect the rest of the pack members. Even her parents knew this, I'm sure that's why my guards caught her being dragged out of the pack by her pack by her parents."

Alpha Damien, who was enraged by the fact that Adeline's parents were the ones that put her in this situation, asked. "And Adeline's parents, do they have anything to say for themselves?"His voice was low and even.

Adeline's Parents, who had been sent for by the guards, stepped forward, their face twisted with disgust. "We didn't know what to do with her any longer . She's not like us. She's… not normal. She has shown her difference by not transforming by the right age of 18. We couldn't handle living with an abnormality in our house any longer, besides her sister didn't shown any sign of it.

The older pack members in the office began to murmur again, their voices filled with suspicion and fear. Alpha Evans smile grew wider, thinking he had the upper hand.

Alpha Laura spoke up, "I understand the severity of her case, but as her own parents, aren't you supposed to be more welcoming of her? But you choose to disregard her and call her names. And you, Alpha Evans, aren't you supposed to preach equality among your pack members, but your actions have proven that you're the reason your pack members treat their own with disdain."

Alpha kael, who had been quiet the whole time, spoke up to the surprise of the others, as he always a man of few words. "What a pity. It's hurtful to call one abnormal. Alpha Evans, I wonder why you and your pack members use that word so loosely. Besides isn't this supposed to be treated with care, as it is a rare case?" He said with calmness, but his scrutinized Alpha Evans, as it was a known fact that he never really liked him.

Alpha Evans, realizing everyone was turning against and also accusing him, burning with rage, he raised his voice in anger, "I don't need you all lecturing me on how and what to do with my own pack members. I clearly remember never asking for advice, and besides, this is a pack matter, and I and my pack members and shall handle this matter ourselves."

But Alpha Damien intervened, his voice cold and calculating. " This is a pack matter, indeed. But kindly reduce your voice,Evans, when addressing either of us. I simply dislike when one raises their voice while speaking with me." His voice dripped with sarcasm, and his eyes were already scheming.

" But as other Alphas have been involved, we handle it amongst ourselves." He turned to Adeline, his eyes softening. "You have two choices, Adeline, you can stay here, or you can go with another Alpha to their pack . You're free to choose."

Alpha Damien's eyes locked onto Alpha Evans, his gaze piercing. "Or are you all going to be like Alpha Evans here? Not welcoming of those who are different?"

The other Alphas exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable. Alpha Laura stepped forward, her eyes flushing with anger. I'll take her in. We don't discriminate against those who are different. In fact, we welcome them."

She turned to Alpha Evans, her eyes blazing with fury. "Perhaps some of us are more enlightened than others."

Adeline's eyes met Alpha Damien's, and she felt a spark of connection. She didn't know why, but she felt drawn to him. "I'll choose… Alpha Damien's pack," she said, her voice firm.

Alpha Damien's smile was like a ray of sunshine. "Welcome to the pack, Adeline. You're under my protection now." As the other Alphas and older pack members began to murmur in agreement, Alpha Evans face turned red with rage.

Alphs Damien turned to him, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Well, Alpha Evans, it seems a decision has already been made. If you have any problem with it, then that's your concern." He said, smiling mischievously.

With that, Alpha Damien turned to leave, Adeline by his side. I think it's time for us to take our leave. The festival is almost over, and I'm sure our presence is no longer required."

Alpha Evans face twisted in anger, his eyes blazing with fury. "This isn't over, Damien. You haven't seen the last of me. This will be taken to the head of the council." Alpha Damien turned around, smirking. "Be my guest then, Evans."

Alpha Evans angry gaze burning into Alpha Damien's back, as Alpha Damien smiled and walked away, Adeline safely by his side.
