Chapter 19: Chloe's Party
Maddie's P.O.V.
I practically ignored Ethan the whole week. He kept calling me and texting me, but I just kept ignoring it all.
After what happened with Ethan,I was not really up for any parties. I tried bailing on Chloe but failed terribly. Now I know for sure that I will see Ethan in Chloe's party. What's worse is that he will be with his chick for sure.
We arrived at Chloe's house, and everything was already prepared. The house is already designed with party stuff. Party cups and chips in bowls are already set on the table. Chloe said that she even hired a DJ for her party tonight. I check the living room and there is already a beer pong table set.
We went straight to her bedroom to pick out what we will be wearing. I instantly went straight for Chloe's bed and just buried myself in her bed while they went through Chloe's wardrobe. 2 hours later, they finally found what they would wear.
Chloe wore a red knee-length dress. She paired it with red high heels and curled her hair. Brooke is wearing a tube black dress with black heels. She just let her hair as it is since she has such long straight hair. Chloe picked a gray V-neck shirt and black leather jacket paired with black skinny jeans and Vans. I just tied my long curly hair back.
People were arriving and Chloe went down to greet them. Brooke left to find Logan. I would prefer staying in Chloe's room, but I know I can't because she will look for me. I went to the backyard before the house gets a full pack. I sat on the swing near the pool area. I know Chloe would notice soon that I am not inside the house, so I wanted to make the most out of it. In any party that she would throw, I would normally be inside enjoying, but today is different. I can hear the music and the people shouting inside the house. It sounds like the house is already filled with lots of people. I was lost in my own world that I did not hear Tyler coming.
"You alright there Maddie?" Tyler asked.
"Yeah. I am good." I replied.
"You know the party is inside the house." Tyler said laughing at the end.
"Oh, really? I thought it was by the swing." I teased back.
"Well, don't stay long outside. Chloe will look for you once she notices you are having your own party out here." Tyler said before heading through the kitchen door.
I was once again lost in my own thoughts. I was still thinking of what went wrong.
Was I wrong about Ethan?Was Ethan just pretending that he was not part of their plan?
Why did you have to be so stupid,Maddie? Why did you even think of kissing him for fuck's sake?!
I was busy having an internal crisis when someone called my name.
"Hey Maddie." a voice said.
I looked up and saw that it was Ethan.I was about to leave when he stopped me.
"Please don't go. Talk to me, at least. I seriously don't know what I did, and you have been ignoring me the whole week." he explained.
'Wow! You think I would fall for that?' my inner bitch said.*
"Seriously, Ethan?! You don't know what you did? Huh! Are you that stupid or are you just a jerk like the rest of your basketball team?" I yelled. I was just done with people thinking that I am just a stupid nerd.
"I am really sorry, Maddie. If this is about me not calling you over the weekend, I already told you what happened. Please, I don't know what else I did to make you that mad." he begged.
"For someone so smart, Ethan, you are pretty dumb with making excuses. What did you think of me, huh? Was I just a bet? Was that it?" I cried out. I was just exhausted that I could no longer hide my pain.
"Maddie, you were never a bet. I am not making dumb excuses. Please believe me." he explained.
"Ethan, I am not stupid. Everyone in the school saw it. Stop lying about it and just leave me alone." I replied with anger.
"What are you talking about, Maddie?" he said, acting all confused.
*'Now you going to act all dumb?!'
"You really have no fucking clue? Ethan we just kissed and then two days later I see you walking in school with a random girl at your arms. Did you forget that part? Or were you just really so dumb in trying to find an excuse for your sorry ass.?" I yelled.
I am, for once, thankful that the music is so loud inside that no one would hear my yell of pain and anger.
"Maddie, listen to me. That girl, Jasmine, is not who you think she is. She is my cousin." he said.
I looked at him dumbfounded. That is his excuse? His cousin? A cousin who is like a gecko attached to you. Yeah, right! Cousin, my ass!!
Ethan looked like he was about to explain more when someone came out of the shadows.
"It is true, Madison. I am Ethan's cousin. I am so sorry for the trouble I have caused. Ethan and I have been so close ever since, and we are like siblings. I know I should not be even here right now, but I have been worried about Ethan because you have been ignoring him the whole week." Jasmine explained.
Holy Grill!!! I, once again, jumped into a fucking conclusion. You can't blame me though. Anybody in my position would have thought the same.
"I am sorry." I said. I was embarrassed.
"No, Madison. You have nothing to apologize for. I am the one who caused the confusion. Now I will let you two talk. See you around Madison." Jasmine said, and then she left.
"I am sorry, Maddie. I did not know you thought like that. I could have explained to you everything." Ethan said as he walked closer to me.
"I am sorry. I jumped into conclusions. I just did not know what to think. You did not call and...
I did not get to finish my sentence. Next thing I knew, Ethan was kissing me. It was longer than the last time. Ethan slowly pulled away and engulfed me in a hug.
I was still trying to process everything and overcome the sudden Cloud 9 feeling.
"You drive me crazy, Maddie. I hope you know that." he said with a light laugh.
I smiled shyly. We just hugged for minutes before Ethan cupped her face so that I was looking at him.
"Promise me you will not ignore me anymore." he said before giving me a peck on the lips.
I just nodded and smiled, knowing that my voice will betray me if I even try to make a sound. I was pulled back into a hug and he kissed my head. We stayed like that for 5 minutes.
"Do you want to go somewhere else?" he asked.
I just nodded.
"Okay. Let me just find Jas and let her know we are heading out. Meet you by my car?" he said.
"Okay." was all I could say.
He gave me a quick peck before heading through the kitchen door to find Jas. I went to the front of the house to find his car. Once I found his car, I leaned by the trunk and waited. He came out of the house 5 minutes later.
"Shall we?" he said, opening the passenger seat like a gentleman.
I got inside and he went over to the driver's side and started the car. We went to the park near my house. We sat on the swing and talked.
"Maddie, I know this is all a sudden but will you go out on a date with me tonight?" he asked.
"I would love to Ethan." I said.
A date with Ethan?! Girl, this has been my fantasy ever since Sophomore Year. Even a date by the park would be amazing.
"I know that I have kissed you quite a lot tonight, but I want you to know that I will never force you into anything. So if you don't like being kissed or anything, just let me know." Ethan said.
I don't know where I have been getting the sudden rush of confidence, but I walked over to his swing and stood in front of him.
"Ethan Walker, you are an impossible guy." I said before running off.
It took him 30 seconds to realize what just happened.
When I looked back,I saw him running right behind me. He caught me by the tree near the slide.
"You are a pretty fast runner but not fast enough for me." he said, engulfing me once more in a hug.
We just played around in the playground. It was such an amazing time.I went down the slide, and we even played hide and seek. After what seemed like an hour of running around and playing, we sat by the hood of his car looking at the stars and listening to songs. I did not want the night to end, but I had to be home before 11 and it was already 10:30pm.
He drove me home and walked me to my doorstep.
"Thank you for the wonderful night, Maddie," he said with his million-dollar smile.
"Thank you. I had lots of fun." I said smiling.
He kissed me goodnight before leaving. I bet my cheeks were already redder than the reddest tomato.
I went to my room and laid on my bed. I still could not believe that all that happened. That it was not a dream, but a reality. I, Madison Carter, went on a date with Ethan Walker.
I took a quick shower and change into my PJs. I just got out of the bathroom when I got a text from Ethan.
"You still up?"
I turned my night light on and got under my covers before replying to his text.
"Yup, just finished taking a shower."
A few seconds later, I got a call from Ethan. My heart was busy doing flips I forgot to answer. I answered the call after calming my yippy heart.
Ethan: Hi.
Me: Hi.
Ethan: Did you have fun tonight?
Me: Yeah, I did.
Ethan: I am glad you did.
Me: Did you?
Ethan: One of the best days I ever had.
~~ few seconds of silence~~
Ethan: Are you free tomorrow?
Me: I am going to Chloe's tomorrow. It's a girls' weekend and for sure she will crucify me if I bail tomorrow since I already skipped on her party last night.
~~Ethan laughed~~
Ethan: It's okay.
Me: I'm really sorry.
~~few seconds of silence~~
Ethan: Maddie....
Me: Yeah?
Ethan: Thank you.
Me: For what?
Ethan: For giving me a chance. I hope you know that this is not a bet, nor any sorts of joke.
Me: It better be not or I will tear you apart and make you a fish bait.
~~Ethan laughed~~
Ethan: You drive me crazy, you know that?
Me: hhhhmmmm....
Ethan: Maddie....
Me: Yes, Ethan Walker?
~~Ethan laughed~~
Ethan: You are so adorable, Madison Carter.
We talked about different topics for almost an hour before we said goodnight.

"I don't want to leave. I want to stay here with you." the little boy said crying.
"Please don't leave." the little girl replied crying.
The two little kids were crying. The boy is leaving with his family and he will leave his childhood friend behind.
The little boy hugged the little girl for a long time. When he let go, he cupped her face, wiping away the tears on the little girl's face.
"Please stop crying. I promise you I will come back for you. We will be together again and we will never have to be separated again." the little boy said to the sad little girl.
"You promise?" the little girl asked.
"I promise my sunshine." the little boy said.
"I will wait for you." the little girl said, hugging the little boy for the last time.
The little boy got in the car and left. The little girl watched until the car was out of her sight before crying her eyes out in her mother's arms.
The little girl waited for the little boy to come back.....
